Suzy may be returning to the small screen with an exciting new role in a fantasy romance drama! The “Anna” star could take on the lead role in the live-action adaptation of “The Men of the Harem”!
Bae Suzy in Talks for ‘The Men of the Harem” Adaptation
On May 12, it was reported that Suzy is in talks to star as the lead in the upcoming drama “The Men of the Harem” (literal title). In response to the news, her agency Management SOOP confirmed, “Suzy received an offer [to star in] the drama ‘The Men of the Harem’ and is currently reviewing it.”
“The Men of the Harem” is based on a widely popular web novel of the same name and features a unique twist on the traditional romance genre. The story centers on Empress Latil, a powerful monarch of the Tarim Empire, who assembles a harem of male concubines to help secure her position on the throne. Set in a lavish fictional kingdom, the drama also promises a mix of political intrigue, romance, and fantasy elements that challenge conventional gender roles in historical storytelling.
Adding to the excitement, the drama is also reportedly being directed by Lee Eung Bok, the visionary behind hit dramas like “Goblin”, “Mr. Sunshine”, and the last two seasons of Netflix’s “Sweet Home”. The screenplay will also be penned by Hwang Jin Young, known for her work on the acclaimed historical melodrama “My Dearest”.
If Suzy accepts the role, this will also mark her return to historical fantasy after previously starring in modern and mystery-themed dramas such as “Anna” and “Doona!”. Fans are already highly anticipating what kind of Empress she will portray—regal, resilient, and surrounded by a harem of men with mysterious motives.
