GOT7’s Jinyoung Discusses Villain Role in ‘Hi-5’
“Hi-5” is a high-concept comic action adventure that follows five ordinary people who suddenly develop extraordinary superpowers after receiving organ transplants. As they struggle to understand and control their newfound abilities, they also find themselves being hunted by those with sinister intentions.
Park Jinyoung takes on the chilling role of Young Chun, a charismatic but dangerous cult leader who undergoes a pancreas transplant and gains the supernatural ability to absorb youth. Freed from his previously frail and vulnerable body, Young Chun becomes obsessed with achieving immortality. Upon discovering that others with transplanted organs have also acquired special powers, he embarks on a ruthless mission to track them down and steal their abilities—no matter the cost.
In discussing the film, Jinyoung shared that “the script was so interesting, there was no reason not to do it.” He also admitted that he chose to play Young Chun for a special reason.
“From an actor’s perspective, it was a great role because it let me show different sides of my acting,” Jinyoung said.
Director Kang Hyung Cheol also praised the actor for his commitment to the role. “He is an incredibly hardworking actor. He prepared thoroughly to create his own style as if he was born for the role of Young Chun, and he delivered a wonderful performance,” Kang said.
“Hi-5” will also star Lee Jae in, Ahn Jae Hong, Ra Mi Ran, and Oh Jung Se. The film promises a thrilling mix of action, suspense, and dark humor and will premiere in Korean theaters on May 30.
