The fictional K-pop group HI-BOYZ from tvN’s popular medical drama “Resident Playbook” is making an exciting leap from the small screen to the stage of a real-life music program!

HI-BOYZ Book Guest Appearance on M Countdown

On May 16, it was reported that HI-BOYZ would be performing on Mnet’s “M Countdown”, sparking buzz among viewers and K-pop fans alike. Soon after, a representative from “M Countdown” also confirmed the news, stating, “It’s true that HI-BOYZ from ‘Resident Playbook’ will be appearing on the show.”

“They are scheduled to appear on the upcoming May 22 broadcast,” they added.

“Resident Playbook” is a spin-off of the hit series “Hospital Playlist” and follows the lives of medical residents at Yulje Medical Center. Within the show’s storyline, HI-BOYZ was a fictional K-pop idol group that disbanded, with one of its former members, Um Jae Il (played by Kang You Seok), now working as a first-year resident. The drama even featured special cameo appearances by TXT’s Yeonjun and Soobin, who portrayed Jae Il’s former bandmates in a nostalgic flashback, further cementing the group’s fictional backstory.

With “Resident Playbook” nearing its conclusion—its final two episodes airing on May 17 and 18 at 9:20 p.m. KST—the surprise promotion of the fictional boy group on a real music broadcast also adds a fun and exciting twist to the drama’s finale week.

This performance will also offer fans a chance to see the fictional idol group come to life on stage, blurring the lines between K-drama fiction and K-pop reality. Needless to say, people are eager to finally see Kang You Seok performing along with Soobin and Yeonjun on the musical variety show next week.

“M Countdown” also airs every Thursday at 6 p.m. KST, and fans can also look forward to seeing how HI-BOYZ bring their fictional charm to a real-world stage performance.
