On May 15, it was reported that the beloved project girl group I.O.I is in early discussions to reunite in celebration of their 10th debut anniversary in 2026. According to an industry insider, talks have begun surrounding the possibility of releasing a new song to commemorate the milestone.
The source noted, “Since the members are all under different agencies, there are many procedures to go through. This was the first discussion regarding the promotion timing, method, management, and more. Currently, all the members are busy with their own projects, so coordinating schedules is difficult, but the members have a strong will to reunite, so we are looking at it positively.”
Following the report, representatives of various members clarified that nothing has been officially confirmed, but discussions are ongoing. One shared, “The reunion of the I.O.I members is not confirmed. We are in discussion,” while another commented, “There is nothing decided.” A different source told StarNews, “A reunion has not been decided yet. However, the members expressed their desire to hold a fan meeting in celebration of their 10th debut anniversary.”
I.O.I was formed through the hit Mnet survival program “Produce 101” and officially debuted in May 2016. Despite their brief promotion period, the group left a lasting impact on the K-pop industry. The group disbanded in January 2017, and the members have since gone on to forge successful solo and group careers. The lineup includes Jeon Somi, Kim Sejeong, Choi Yoojung, Chungha, Kim So Hye, Kyulkyung, Jung Chaeyeon, Kim Doyeon, Kang Mina, Lim Nayoung, and Yoo Yeonjung.
