KBS2’s upcoming fantasy romance drama “The First Night With the Duke” has unveiled its first glimpse of OK Taecyeon in his newest role, and the 2PM member is already drawing attention with his intense transformation.
Ok Taecyeon Discusses ‘The First Night With The Duke’ Role
Based on a popular web novel and webtoon, the drama tells the story of Cha Sun Chaek (played by Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun), a minor character in a romance novel who suddenly finds herself possessed by the soul of an ordinary modern-day college student named K. In a twist of fate, she ends up spending the night with the novel’s obsessive male lead, Yi Beon, setting off a chain of unexpected consequences.
Taecyeon takes on the role of Yi Beon, a stoic and nearly flawless prince-like figure set in an alternate Joseon-era world. With his sharp visuals, martial arts prowess, and composed personality, Yi Beon initially appears emotionally detached. However, after his night with Sun Chaek, his icy exterior begins to melt. His long-repressed feelings erupt, and he transforms into a passionate, lovestruck man who is not afraid to pursue love boldly and openly.
Speaking about his character, Ok said, “Yi Beon may look like the typical male lead, but in many ways, he’s closer to a villain. He’s like a tyrant—bad at expressing his feelings and sees that as a weakness, so he shuts himself off from others.”
He continued, “What makes him most interesting is that after meeting Cha Sun Chaek, he tries to change everything about the way he’s lived for the woman he loves.”
