On May 8, the drama’s production company Studio Dragon shared its Q1 2025 earnings report, where the confirmation of Season 2 was listed as a major highlight. The company also noted that it is “considering new formats such as an interquel”—a narrative that bridges the events between two seasons. This announcement has sparked widespread curiosity about the direction the series may take next, possibly offering deeper insight into the characters’ backstories or filling in key plot gaps.
On May 12, Studio Dragon further confirmed to media outlets that “Study Group” Season 2 is currently in the early stages of planning. Although specific cast and production details have not yet been disclosed, the official confirmation has ignited anticipation among fans of both the webtoon and the drama adaptation.
The high school action-comedy, which premiered this past January, quickly gained popularity for its unique blend of intense fight scenes and academic struggles. Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “Study Group” tells the story of Youn Ga Min (played by Hwang Minhyun), a high school student with a fierce passion for academics but a natural gift for fighting. Enrolled at a school infamous for its delinquency and chaos, Ga Min forms a study group with the hope of surviving the brutal environment and making it into college.
