I really think this was my first time being part of such an intellectual production.”

Kim Nam Hee, who played Choi Jae Jin, reminisced about the joyous filming experience. “Everything about filming the drama was happy and joyful, to the extent where I still feel sad about having to say goodbye to the rest of the cast and crew. I’m so sad about it ending that I wish they’d make a sequel because the drama did so well. Thank you for hating and loving the character of Jae Jin. I hope that ‘Bitter Sweet Hell’ was able to make you even briefly happy during these hot summer days, and I hope that you will always be happy and healthy.”

Yeonwoo expressed her honor and gratitude for being part of the cast. “It was an honor to be a part of this great drama and work together with actors whom I respect. I learned a lot on the filming set, and I’d like to work hard to become an actress whose acting has depth, just like my senior actors in the cast.”

2PM’s Chansung also shared his appreciation for the experience. “Being able to work together with such amazing actors, I really learned and felt a lot. I gained so much from the drama ‘Bitter Sweet Hell,’ which is both sincere and fun at the same time. Thank you to everyone who gave the drama love, and I’ll greet you with better projects in the future as well.”

Finally, DKZ’s Jaechan reflected on his growth and gratitude. “Starting from the beginning of filming, just being able to appear on screen together with these amazing actors was an honor in and of itself. I think this is a memory and experience of growth that I will never be able to forget. Even though Do Hyun lied and made others worry in the drama, thank you to the viewers for giving Do Hyun so much love. I’ll work hard to try to show you better things in the future as well.”

EXO-CBX Members Sue SM Entertainment Executives Over Broken Promises

EXO-CBX and their agency, INB100, have escalated their legal battle against SM Entertainment executives by filing a counter-lawsuit alleging fraud amidst a contentious dispute over financial agreements. This conflict began when Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, members of the popular sub-unit EXO-CBX, departed from SM Entertainment last year, triggering a series of negotiations and legal actions.

EXO-CBX vs. SM Entertainment on breaching agreement

The controversy intensified on June 10 when INB100, representing the former EXO members, held a press conference accusing SM Entertainment of breaching a previously agreed-upon 5.5% music record distribution fee. They further claimed that SM Entertainment unfairly demanded 10% of sales from EXO-CBX’s individual activities while withholding crucial settlement data.

In response, SM Entertainment refuted these allegations, asserting that the EXO members continue to benefit from the group’s brand and legacy. On June 12, SM Entertainment retaliated by filing a lawsuit against Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, contesting the terms of their departure and subsequent financial arrangements.

Amidst the legal back-and-forth, EXO-CBX issued a statement on June 14, addressing the dispute and revealing efforts to propose an alternative agreement concerning payment for the use of SM Entertainment’s music, assets, and brand. They expressed frustration that their proposal was ignored, leading to SM’s lawsuit.

In their statement, EXO-CBX and INB100 vowed to cooperate fully with authorities, pledging to disclose all relevant details, including last year’s negotiations, to substantiate their claims. They also indicated their intent to challenge SM Entertainment’s profit distribution practices in court, asserting that the agency’s financial system is flawed. The outcome of this legal battle could have significant implications for the relationship between artists and management companies in the K-pop industry.

Recently, Chen has released his solo, “Empty,” which serves as his first comeback song under a new label. Empty is a ballad featuring gentle piano tones and melody that evokes a sense of loneliness and emptiness. INB100 also announced on June 20 that Baekhyun will have his encore for his 2024 Baekhyun Asia Tour ‘Lonsdaleite [dot].’

Tiffany Shares Her Experience Filming First Kiss Scene in ‘Uncle Samsik’

On the afternoon of June 26, KST, Tiffany Young sat down for an interview at a café in Sogyeok-dong, Seoul. She shared various anecdotes about her experience working on the Disney+ original series ‘Uncle Samsik,’ which premiered on May 15.

‘Uncle Samsik’ is a 16-episode drama that tells the passionate story of Uncle Samsik, Park Doo Chil (played by Song Kang Ho), who ensures three meals a day even during wartime, and elite young man Kim San (played by Byun Yo Han), who dreams of building a prosperous nation where everyone can live well.

In the series, Tiffany Young plays Rachel Jung, a director at the Albright Foundation, who becomes intrigued by Kim San’s ambition to rebuild Korea. Reflecting on her role, Tiffany said, “Appearing in ‘Uncle Samsik’ still feels unreal and like a dream. Although this is my second project after ‘Reborn Rich,’ I still can’t quite believe it. I am just happy and grateful.”

Tiffany talks about her kiss with Byun Yo Han

Tiffany also mentioned her first on-screen kiss with Byun Yo Han, saying, “I experienced my first kiss scene in ‘Uncle Samsik.’” She recounted an amusing moment on set: “Senior actor Song Kang Ho kept joking around, saying, ‘The atmosphere is nice.’ Since I was the last to join the cast, I felt a lot of pressure and tried to stay focused, which made me quieter than usual.”

She humorously described the kiss scene as almost an action sequence. “It wasn’t just a kiss scene; it was practically an action scene. Byun Yo Han’s beard made my face swell up. We had to shoot many takes with different breaths, so my lips were quite swollen. It felt like filming a group dance scene or an action scene.”

Tiffany’s candid sharing of her experiences brings a relatable and human touch to her work in ‘Uncle Samsik,’ adding depth to her portrayal of Rachel Jung.
