On April 15, GOLDMEDALIST issued an official statement confirming their plans to take legal action to protect the actor.
“Malicious slander, the circulation of false information, personal attacks, and sexual harassment, which are rampant on online communities and social media, are criminal acts that should not be taken lightly,” the statement read. “Based on active reports from fans regarding malicious actions and our own internal monitoring, we submitted a legal complaint to investigative authorities on April 14 for charges of defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and for insult under the Criminal Act.”
This comes in light of the recent controversy involving Kim Soo Hyun and late actress Kim Sae Ron, which has generated widespread attention online. Kim Soo Hyun personally addressed the issue during a press conference, where he issued a formal apology and clarified the nature of his relationship with Kim Sae Ron.
The actor denied all allegations, including claims tied to supposed KakaoTalk message evidence shared by Kim Sae Ron’s family in their recent press briefing. According to Kim Soo Hyun, he and Kim Sae Ron were in a relationship five years ago, and it lasted for about one year. He stressed that the relationship ended amicably and that he was not involved in any wrongdoing. The actor also expressed deep regret over how misinformation had been spread, leading to false speculation and unnecessary public scrutiny.
