Mnet Speaks Up About Rumored BIGBANG Reunion
On October 5, rumors surfaced about BIGBANG potentially reuniting for a group performance at this year’s MAMA Awards. The speculation began when Korean media outlet News1 reported that BIGBANG members G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung might perform together at the 2024 MAMA Awards. If true, this would mark the first time in nearly a decade that the group has performed at the prestigious event, their last MAMA Awards performance being in 2015.
However, Mnet, the network behind the MAMA Awards, was quick to respond to these reports. Later that morning, Mnet clarified that no decisions had been made regarding the official lineup of artists for the event.
In a statement, they said, “The lineup of artists attending the 2024 MAMA Awards has not yet been decided,” leaving the possibility of a BIGBANG performance up in the air.
The 2024 MAMA Awards are particularly special this year, as they will take place over three days, spanning two countries for the first time. The event will kick off on November 21 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, marking the first time the awards ceremony has been held in the United States. The second and third nights will be hosted at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan, on November 22 and 23.
