SM Entertainment’s Debut English Boy Group Journey to Air on BBC

Airing later this summer on BBC, “Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience” documents the debut journey of SM Entertainment’s inaugural English boy group, developed in collaboration with British entertainment company MOON&BACK. This five-member global group, set to debut in the latter half of 2024, represents a fusion of K-Pop’s systematic production approach with talent sourced from the UK.

Selected directly by MOON&BACK, the members underwent rigorous training in music, choreography, and vocals under SM Entertainment at their Artist Development Center. The six-part TV series follows their 100-day preparation period leading up to debut, offering viewers an inside look into their transformative journey.

The series will premiere simultaneously on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, showcasing the group’s unique blend of cultural influences and musical aspirations as they strive to make their mark in the competitive K-Pop industry.

“Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience” will feature weekly critiques from Hee Jun Yoon, a prominent figure in K-pop known for shaping some of the genre’s biggest acts over the past two decades. This series serves as a rigorous boot camp where the band’s progress will be closely scrutinized, offering them a pathway to potential global stardom despite no guarantees of success.

K-pop’s widespread influence on fashion, style, and music has solidified its status as a global phenomenon. SM Entertainment, the powerhouse behind this venture, has launched over 100 groups and solo artists, orchestrated more than 2,300 international tours, and amassed a collective viewership of over 100 billion on YouTube. “Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience” is poised to deliver a one-of-a-kind television event, showcasing the intricacies and aspirations of the K-pop industry through its innovative approach to talent development and global outreach.
