NJZ (NewJeans) has announced a temporary hiatus following their highly anticipated performance at ComplexCon in Hong Kong.
NJZ Confirm Temporary Hiatus Amidst Ongoing Legal Battle
On March 23 local time, NJZ headlined the event, delivering an electrifying performance where they premiered their new song “Pit Stop.” However, the night took an emotional turn when the group addressed the audience with an official statement regarding their future activities.
During the speech, the NJZ members shared, “Out of respect for the court’s decision, we’ve decided to pause all our activities for now.” They reassured fans, saying, “This might be our last performance for a little while, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to give up… it’s just us taking a step back to pause.”
“To everybody who has been believing in us and supporting us through everything from the bottom of our hearts, thank you, and we love you so, so, so, so much, and we can’t express how grateful we are, and we promise, no matter what the circumstances we will meet again soon,” the statement read.
NJZ Vs ADOR
This statement comes just two days after the Seoul Central District Court granted ADOR’s request for an injunction preventing the NewJeans members from engaging in independent activities under the name NJZ. The ruling reaffirmed ADOR’s position as the official agency representing the members until a final verdict is reached in the ongoing contract dispute. The main trial is scheduled to begin on April 3.
Following the court’s decision on March 21, NJZ announced their intent to appeal while confirming their scheduled performance at ComplexCon. Meanwhile, ADOR also released a statement emphasizing that they would continue supporting NewJeans as their agency and would provide on-site staff assistance for the group’s Hong Kong appearance.
For now, NJZ’s next steps remain uncertain as legal proceedings unfold, but the members have expressed their determination to keep moving forward despite the challenges ahead. Fans worldwide continue to show unwavering support as they await further updates on the group’s future.
