NewJeans Launches New Instagram Account

NewJeans are taking charge. The members of the girl group have just launched a new Instagram account and their first post confirms their support for everyone taking part in the South Korean president’s impeachment rally.

NewJeans Launches New Instagram Account Amid Ongoing Legal Dispute

On December 14, the members of NewJeans unveiled a new Instagram account under the username “jeanzforfree.” This separate account marks a fresh avenue for the group to connect with their fans, distinct from their official group account. Through Instagram Stories, the members personally confirmed the authenticity of the account, promising to engage with it regularly.

For their debut post, NewJeans showcased their philanthropic spirit by announcing that they had pre-paid food at various restaurants and a café. Any K-pop fan with a light stick participating in the impeachment protest could enjoy the treat, showcasing the group’s solidarity and thoughtfulness.

NewJeans’ Legal Drama Continues

The launch of this account also comes amidst NewJeans’ legal battle with their former agency, ADOR. On November 29, the group revealed their decision to terminate their contracts with ADOR, citing breaches of agreement and the agency’s failure to address the issues. The announcement followed an emergency press conference on November 28, where the members publicly outlined their grievances, emphasizing their frustration over ADOR’s lack of response.

In response, ADOR also filed a lawsuit on December 3 with the Seoul Central District Court, seeking to validate their exclusive contracts. This legal move also intensified public debate over the agency’s handling of the situation.

On December 6, NewJeans issued a statement reiterating their stance. The members expressed disappointment in ADOR’s approach and emphasized their commitment to fair treatment. They also clarified that the decision to terminate their contracts was a last resort to safeguard their professional rights and personal well-being.

As the legal battle unfolds, NewJeans’ new Instagram account also offers a space for them to connect with fans on their own terms while continuing to stand united in their pursuit of justice and integrity. Fans worldwide are also showing their unwavering support for the group during this challenging time.

NewJeans Responds to Lawsuit Filed By ADOR

NewJeans has issued an official statement addressing the ongoing legal battle with their former agency. The girl group have spoken up about the lawsuit filed by ADOR over their exclusive contracts.

NewJeans Responds to Lawsuit Filed by ADOR Over Contract Dispute

The controversy began on November 29, when the members of NewJeans announced their decision to terminate their contracts, citing breaches of agreement by ADOR and the agency’s failure to rectify the issues. The group’s announcement followed an emergency press conference on November 28, where they publicly outlined their grievances, emphasizing the lack of response from ADOR regarding critical contractual violations.

On December 3, ADOR responded by filing a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court, seeking to legally validate their exclusive contracts with NewJeans. This move sparked further public debate about the agency’s handling of the matter.

In their December 6 statement, NewJeans reiterated their stance, expressing disappointment in ADOR’s approach to the dispute. The members emphasized their united decision to pursue fair treatment and safeguard their professional and personal integrity, highlighting that the termination of their contracts was not made lightly but as a necessary step to uphold their rights.

“Recently, we learned through the media that ADOR filed a lawsuit seeking confirmation that our exclusive contracts are still valid,” the statement read. “In their statement, ADOR failed to properly assert that there were no breaches of the exclusive contracts, instead repeatedly claiming that the contracts cannot be terminated until the company recoups its support and investments.”

“However, we have already returned profits exceeding the investment to ADOR and HYBE,” it continues. “Despite this, HYBE has attempted various forms of interference, including defamation and reverse viral marketing, to devalue us, and ADOR has allowed this to happen under new management. This is akin to the company producing malicious comments against us, the very artists they are supposed to protect. Considering this breakdown in trust, we have concluded that we are likely to suffer even more harm in the future.

What Will Happen to NewJeans?

The escalating legal conflict has left fans concerned but hopeful that the talented group will overcome this challenge and continue to shine in their career.

ADOR Issues Statement After NewJeans Announces Contract Termination

The five members of NewJeans have made the significant decision to leave their agency, ADOR. Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein officially announces contract termination before the end of the month.

NewJeans Members Announces Contract Termination

Earlier this month, on November 13, the group sent a formal certification of contents to ADOR, outlining substantial breaches of their exclusive contracts and demanding rectification within 14 days. In their notice, they warned that failure to address their concerns would result in the termination of their agreements.

On November 28, the members held an emergency press conference to publicly announce their decision. During the conference, they detailed the unresolved issues that led to this drastic step, citing ADOR’s alleged contractual violations and lack of adequate response to their grievances. They emphasized their collective resolve to prioritize their rights and professional integrity over continuing under unfavorable conditions.

“The reason we are leaving ADOR is very simple, and I think the reporters here who know our situation are also all very aware,” they said. “NewJeans is an artist of ADOR, and ADOR is obligated to protect NewJeans. It is the most basic obligation that an agency has. ADOR does not have the will or ability to protect NewJeans. If we remain here, it will be a waste of our time, and our mental distress will continue. More than anything, there is nothing that we can gain in terms of our work, so the five of us think that there is no reason at all for us to remain at ADOR.

“As a result, the exclusive contracts between NewJeans and ADOR will be terminated as of November 29 at 12 a.m. KST. However, HYBE and ADOR are currently differentiating the two companies like word play, insisting that it cannot be a violation of contract because HYBE is at fault and not ADOR. However, as everyone knows, HYBE and ADOR are pretty much just one entity now. The ADOR that we worked with has already changed a lot, and the directors who were at the company before were all abruptly dismissed. Now they are differentiating HYBE and ADOR, and we really cannot accept the argument that we must maintain our exclusive contracts with the ADOR that has been changed according to what HYBE wants, that has cut off ties with the [music video] director who worked hard with us, that has broken all of this trust. As a result, we demanded rectification regarding the violations of our contract, and as mentioned earlier, the time period for that rectification ends at midnight tonight.”

ADOR Reacts to NewJeans’ Announcement

It didn’t take long before ADOR responded to NewJeans’ announcement, expressing regret over the situation and reiterating their stance.

“ADOR, as a party of the exclusive contracts, has not violated the contracts, and claiming that trust has been unilaterally broken does not constitute grounds for termination,” the statement read. “The exclusive contracts between ADOR and the NewJeans members remain valid. Therefore, we expect them to continue their scheduled activities ahead together with ADOR as they have until now.”

“We have requested several meetings with the artists, but they were not carried out,” it continued. “We hope that even now, we can open our hearts and have sincere conversations together.”

The development marks a significant turning point for NewJeans, who have been widely recognized for their meteoric rise in the K-pop industry. The group’s departure from ADOR has left fans and industry watchers speculating about their next steps and future endeavors.

Min Hee Jin Confirms ADOR Internal Director Resignation

On November 20, Min Hee Jin released a detailed statement confirming her resignation from her role as an internal director at ADOR, the HYBE sub-label she helped establish.

“HYBE’s actions in 2024 will be recorded as an unprecedented incident in K-pop history.

Over the past seven months, I have poured all my mental, economic, and physical resources into reviving ADOR, which was devastated by HYBE’s severe breaches of the shareholder agreement.

It was a hellish battle against the baseless violence of a group disguised as a large corporation, but I did not back down and made every effort.”

Her statement marked the end of her impactful tenure with HYBE, during which she played a pivotal role in shaping the label’s success, particularly with the rise of NewJeans.

In response, ADOR issued an official statement.

“We would like to convey ADOR’s position regarding Director Min Hee Jin’s resignation,” the statement read. “ADOR feels regrettable about the unilateral resignation notice from Director Min Hee Jin. Our company will do our utmost to support NewJeans so that they can continue to grow and develop further. Thank you.”

Earlier in August, ADOR announced that Min Hee Jin would step down as CEO, though she would continue to oversee the creative and production aspects of NewJeans, the highly successful girl group she was instrumental in launching. Despite this shift, Min Hee Jin’s departure from the CEO position sparked concern among fans and NewJeans members, who openly expressed their unwavering support for her.

On September 11, NewJeans held a live YouTube broadcast in which they issued a bold statement, urging HYBE to reinstate Min Hee Jin as CEO by September 25. The members emphasized her indispensable role in their artistic direction and career development.

Two days later, Min Hee Jin filed an injunction to be reinstated as both CEO and internal director of ADOR. However, her decision to leave HYBE indicates that these efforts did not materialize into a resolution. Fans now await updates on Min Hee Jin’s next steps and her potential plans outside of HYBE.

Min Hee Jin Continues to Push for Reappointment as ADOR CEO

Min Hee Jin has issued a statement in response to ADOR’s latest announcement regarding her position within the company. Min’s latest statement continues to push for her reappointment as the company’s CEO.

Min Hee Jin Pushes for Reappointment as ADOR CEO

On September 25, Min’s legal representation issued the statement.

“Min Hee Jin is wary that extending her term under a flawed contract would not guarantee the normal activities of NewJeans as artists. Therefore, she has clearly expressed her intention to return as CEO and has requested a concrete contract from HYBE that reflects their sincerity. She feels great anger at the repeated media play before any negotiations, with no agreed-upon details regarding the parties involved, the duration, or the authority,” the statement read.

This comes after ADOR revealed they would be holding an extraordinary general meeting to discuss Min’s reappointment as an internal director.

On the morning of September 25, reporter Jang Hyung Woo discussed a phone call with a HYBE PR representative during a radio news interview. The reporter alleged that the representative downplayed the achievements of NewJeans, the successful girl group produced by Min Hee Jin under ADOR. HYBE quickly refuted these claims, issuing a statement denying the remarks attributed to their PR team, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing situation.

This follows the significant developments in August when ADOR announced that Min Hee Jin would no longer serve as CEO, though she would remain as an internal director responsible for producing NewJeans’ content. In response, on September 11, all five members of NewJeans held a live YouTube broadcast, where they issued an ultimatum to HYBE, demanding the reinstatement of Min Hee Jin as CEO by September 25. On September 13, Min Hee Jin filed an injunction seeking her reappointment as both inside director and CEO of ADOR, escalating the situation.

Fans are watching closely as this story unfolds, awaiting further developments.

HYBE Addresses Min Hee Jin Injunction Request for Reinstatement

It looks like Min Hee Jin is keen to continue as the CEO of ADOR. Now, HYBE has responded to her injunction request for reinstatement to her former position.

HYBE Responds to Min Hee Jin Injunction Request

On September 13, HYBE issued an official statement in response to former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin’s legal filing for an injunction, in which she seeks reappointment as both CEO and inside director of the company. This move follows her dismissal from the CEO role, a decision made by ADOR’s board of directors on August 27. Min Hee Jin’s filing has intensified the situation, bringing attention to the underlying legal and managerial disputes between HYBE, ADOR, and Min Hee Jin.

HYBE clarified its stance by explaining that the shareholder agreement between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, which initially governed her role as CEO, had already been terminated. The agency emphasized that, “Once the agreement is terminated, its legal effect is void.” HYBE further disclosed that a lawsuit had already been filed to confirm the termination of this shareholder agreement, and they are currently awaiting the court’s decision on the matter.

In addition to the legal clarification, HYBE asserted that Min Hee Jin’s dismissal as CEO was the result of a decision made independently by ADOR’s board of directors. The agency emphasized that the decision had no connection to HYBE or the previously terminated shareholder agreement. The agency noted that ADOR’s board of directors acted solely out of business management considerations, not influenced by external factors.

HYBE expressed disappointment over Min Hee Jin’s recent actions, stating, “We regret that Min Hee Jin, who has long emphasized the importance of ADOR’s independent management as a separate entity, is not respecting ADOR’s board of directors’ decision.” This statement reflects HYBE’s stance that Min Hee Jin, who previously championed the autonomy and distinct identity of ADOR, is now opposing the very independent decision-making processes she once advocated.

NewJeans Fights for Min Hee Jin

Earlier on the same day, Min Hee Jin’s legal team filed an injunction to challenge her dismissal. Her team argues that the shareholder agreement, which guaranteed her a five-year term as CEO and inside director, is still legally valid and has not been lawfully terminated. They claim that the dismissal was a violation of this agreement and are seeking legal recourse to have Min Hee Jin reinstated in both roles.

The controversy surrounding Min Hee Jin’s departure escalated when ADOR first announced on August 27 that she would no longer serve as CEO. However, it was noted at the time that Min Hee Jin would continue her involvement with NewJeans by producing their content as an internal director at ADOR. Despite this, the shift in leadership has caused tension, particularly with fans and the members of NewJeans.

In a surprising turn, the five members of NewJeans held a live broadcast on YouTube on September 11, where they expressed their dissatisfaction with Min Hee Jin’s removal as CEO. The group firmly requested that she be reinstated by September 25, underscoring her importance to their artistic and professional development.

As the legal battle unfolds, all eyes are on how the court will rule on the shareholder agreement and whether Min Hee Jin will regain her former leadership role within ADOR. The situation has not only legal implications but could also impact the creative direction of NewJeans and the future of ADOR’s independent management.

NewJeans is taking a stand against the recent changes in their company. The members of the girl group decided to call for Min Hee Jin reinstatement as the CEO of ADOR.

NewJeans Members Push for Min Hee Jin Reinstatement

NewJeans recently spoke out about the sudden change in leadership at their agency, ADOR, following the announcement on August 27 that Min Hee Jin would no longer serve as CEO. Despite the shift in her role, Min will continue producing content for NewJeans as an internal director at ADOR.

However, on September 11, the members of NewJeans took matters into their own hands by hosting a surprise live broadcast on YouTube. During the broadcast, the group openly expressed their dissatisfaction with the change, emphasizing how pivotal Min Hee Jin has been to their career and success.

“Even before debuting as NewJeans and through all of the time that we spent together with CEO Min Hee Jin, all of us felt that the music we wanted to make and the kind of world we wanted to build together—our vision—was similar in so many ways. With CEO Min Hee Jin, we were able to prepare each and every task with sincere hearts, and I believe it shows in our work,” Danielle said. “Putting our sincere effort into something is only possible because the people that we’re working with have trust in each other and have that same vision.”

CEO Min Hee Jin is not only the person that produces our music, but someone who makes NewJeans who we are. She is integral to NewJeans’ identity, and we all feel that she is irreplaceable,” she continued.

They credited her vision and leadership as key factors in their journey, sharing their strong desire to continue working with her.

Former ADOR Employee Continue to Disprove Min Hee Jin

Employee B did not hold back in her latest remarks, stating, “Min Hee Jin completely ignored the breaches of neutrality in her role as CEO and the abusive language directed at me.” She further alleged that Min has been using selective explanations to cover up core issues, focusing instead on minor points like performance reviews and salary cuts.

ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin continues to face controversy amid a dispute with HYBE. The CEO’s former employee continues to refute her statements through an anonymous Instagram account. Photo via Wikimedia Commons.

The core of B’s accusations centers around sexual harassment claims. B refutes Min Hee Jin’s assertion that the harassment cases were exaggerated, maintaining that her reports were accurate and supported by evidence. According to Min Hee Jin, HYBE’s HR department conducted an investigation that found no wrongdoing. However, B argued that Min failed to remain neutral and protect employees during the process, despite Min’s claim of acting objectively.

B points out, “The duty to address harassment cases lies with the CEO. While HYBE’s HR department can assist, the final decision is legally the CEO’s responsibility.” She also provided evidence, including messages where the accused admitted to some of the behavior.

In her message, B questioned Min Hee Jin’s intentions and demanded answers regarding why certain personal messages were revealed without her consent. Additionally, she challenged the way Min Hee Jin had distorted facts, especially about her resignation. The former employee closed by expressing her frustration at the lack of a sincere apology from her after all the distress caused.

As this situation unfolds, B remains determined to continue pursuing accountability. She is even looking into involving external agencies in her pursuit of justice.
