In his handwritten letter on Weverse, Suga also conveyed his deep remorse for disappointing his fans, stating that he felt immense guilt for letting them down. He promised to reflect on his actions and work hard to regain their trust.
This marked his second public apology, following the initial statement from his agency, Big Hit Music, on August 7, which confirmed that Suga had also been fined and had his driver’s license revoked for operating an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol.
“It is with a shameful heart that I would like to apologize to you again,” he wrote. “I am sincerely sorry for disappointing and hurting my fans and everyone who loves me due to my wrongdoing.”
“I made a big mistake by forgetting my responsibility to repay the love I received with actions commensurate with it,” he added.
The letter follows his August 23 appearance at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, where Suga was summoned for questioning on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act for drunk driving. Arriving at the precinct at around 7:45 p.m., after completing his public service duties for the day, Suga briefly spoke to the press. He expressed his sincere apologies for the incident and acknowledged the gravity of his actions. He also assured everyone that he would fully cooperate with the ongoing investigations and that he was ready to face the consequences of his behavior.
Suga’s DUI case has left many fans concerned, but his willingness to take responsibility and his genuine remorse have been met with understanding and support from many in the ARMY community. As the legal process continues, Suga’s actions will undoubtedly be under scrutiny, but his apology serves as a significant step in addressing the situation.
