With this achievement, aespa has set a historic record, becoming the first K-pop girl group to score six top 50 albums on the Billboard 200. On Billboard’s World Albums chart, ‘Whiplash’ climbed to No. 2, demonstrating the album’s strong international appeal. Although ‘Cosmic’ was initially released in Korea and on digital platforms back in June, the physical version of the album was made available in the United States on August 2. Despite the gap between its digital and physical releases, the album’s impact was substantial. For the week ending on August 17, ‘Cosmic’ debuted at No. 145 on the Billboard 200, signaling Red Velvet’s growing influence in the global music scene.

In addition to their Billboard 200 success, ‘Cosmic’ also made a strong showing on several other Billboard charts. The mini album debuted at No. 6 on both the Top Album Sales chart and the Top Current Album Sales chart, making it the sixth best-selling album of the week in the United States. Stray Kids has just made Billboard 200 history with their latest release! The boy group’s latest album ‘ATE’ has debuted at Number 1 on the charts, making it their fifth album to achieve the feat!

On July 28, local time, Billboard announced that Stray Kids’ new mini album “ATE” had debuted at No. 1 on its Top 200 Albums chart. This achievement marks their fifth consecutive album to top the chart, following the success of “ODDINARY,” “MAXIDENT,” “★★★★★ (5-STAR),” and “ROCK-STAR.”

Stray Kids is now the first group in Billboard 200 history to have their first five charting albums debut at No. 1. They are only the second artist ever to achieve this remarkable feat, following American rapper DMX, who accomplished it over two decades ago. This milestone underscores Stray Kids’ exceptional impact and consistency in the music industry.

According to Luminate (formerly Nielsen Music), “ATE” earned a total of 232,000 equivalent album units during the week ending on July 25. The album’s total score comprised 218,000 traditional album sales, making it the second-biggest sales week of any album in 2024, surpassed only by Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department.” Additionally, “ATE” garnered 13,000 streaming equivalent album (SEA) units, translating to 19.05 million on-demand audio streams over the course of the week. The album also accumulated 1,000 track equivalent album (TEA) units in its first week.

In the meantime, Stray Kids is set to support their release with the ‘dominATE’ World Tour which will kick off with four shows at the KSPO Dome in Seoul starting August 24 to September 1, 2024. The other dates and locations have not yet been announced.

V has achieved a historic milestone on the Billboard 200, solidifying his position as a record-breaking artist in the global music industry. The success comes with the BTS member’s solo album ‘Layover’, which continues to dominate global charts.

V made his solo debut with the album ‘Layover’ in September, which promptly landed on the Billboard 200 chart at an impressive No. 2. The remarkable achievement equalled the record set by his fellow BTS members Jimin and Suga as the highest-ranking Korean solo albums on the chart.

The latest feat ensured V’s status as the first K-pop solo artist to maintain a presence on the Billboard 200 for seven consecutive weeks. Since its debut, ‘Layover’ has retained a spot on the chart, and for the week ending on November 4, it impressively held position at No. 160.

‘Layover’ is only the second Korean solo album to have achieved such longevity on the Billboard 200. V’s bandmate RM previously charted for seven weeks with his solo album ‘Indigo’, albeit with non-consecutive weeks.

Beyond the Billboard 200, ‘Layover’ climbed to No. 13 on Billboard’s Top Current Album Sales chart and No. 18 on the Top Album Sales chart during its seventh week on both charts.

V’s title track “Slow Dancing” also maintained its presence on the Billboard charts as well. It ascended to No. 30 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart and No. 54 on the Global 200 chart during its seventh week. His pre-release single “Love Me Again” also saw success, re-entering the charts at No. 116 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart during its 11th week.

V’s impact as a solo artist extended to the Billboard Artist 100, where he secured the No. 83 position, marking his ninth appearance on the chart, showcasing the enduring influence of his solo work. V’s groundbreaking achievements underscore his status as an exceptional artist, not only within the K-pop realm but also on the international music stage.

‘Layover’ was released on September 8, 2023.
