EXO Chanyeol Refuses to Give Up in ‘Back Again’ MV

Chanyeol is proving that he will never give up. The EXO member dropped the powerful “Back Again” MV, the second single from his debut solo album ‘Black Out’.

EXO’s Chanyeol Drops Powerful ‘Back Again’ MV

On September 6, the SMTOWN official YouTube channel released the “Back Again” MV. It features Chanyeol running away from a group of thugs but then getting back up to fight back.

“Back Again” is an alternative hip-hop track that merges the raw energy of old-school hip-hop with a vibrant rock sound. The song’s dynamic fusion of genres also highlights a nostalgic, yet modern twist, drawing listeners in with its high-energy beats and impactful lyrics.

Lyrically, “Back Again” tells the story of a narrator who envisions himself as a superhero. However, instead of the traditional triumphant journey, this superhero finds himself facing endless challenges and setbacks, striving for a happy ending that always seems just out of reach. The song also captures the emotional depth of perseverance in the face of overwhelming obstacles.

The music video adds a compelling visual layer to this narrative. It features EXO’s Chanyeol in a tense and gritty scene, where he is relentlessly pursued and attacked by a mob. Despite being knocked down and beaten, Chanyeol refuses to give in. With resilience, he gets back on his feet, also symbolizing the song’s core message: no matter how many times life beats you down, it’s all about finding the strength to rise again.

The MV’s intense atmosphere, combined with Chanyeol’s powerful performance, also amplifies the song’s themes of struggle, determination, and the relentless pursuit of hope.

“Back Again” is the second single from Chanyeol’s first solo EP ‘Black Out’ which was released on August 28, 2024. It was also released ahead of the first Seoul concert of the EXO member’s new solo tour “2024 Chanyeol Live Tour: City-scape” on September 6, 2024.
