On March 28, a media outlet reported that IU and Byeon Woo Seok had recently informed the drama’s production team of their decision to withdraw from the project. The report claimed that their departure stemmed from unresolved negotiations regarding the drama’s distribution rights.

However, both actors’ agencies swiftly denied the claims, reassuring fans that IU and Byeon Woo Seok remain committed to their roles.

Byeon Woo Seok’s agency, VARO Entertainment, firmly stated, “Byeon Woo Seok has not stepped down from “Wife of a 21st Century Prince”. He will star in the drama as planned.” Similarly, IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, addressed the rumors, saying, “The reports about IU stepping down from ‘Wife of a 21st Century Prince’ are false. She is preparing for the project well.”

“Wife of a 21st Century Prince” is set in an alternate version of Korea, where the nation remains a constitutional monarchy. The romantic drama will follow the love story of Sung Hee Joo, a chaebol heiress who seemingly has everything except noble status, and Lee Ahn, a prince who, despite being royalty, struggles with having little to his name.
