BLACKPINK’s global success has not only contributed to the prominence of South Korea on the world stage but has also garnered a massive and unwavering fan base. Their dedicated fandom, known as BLINKs, stands by the group through every high and low. This loyalty has transcended ordinary fans and has also attracted fellow celebrities and idols, many of whom proudly declare their BLINK status.

In a recent interview with MAPS, Jini, a former member of NMIXX, openly discussed her admiration and respect for BLACKPINK. Her appreciation for the quartet signifies yet another idol who is not shy about expressing her affinity for the idol group.

“Well, there is a lot to learn from all the figures who have years of experience, so it’s hard to say just one person, but I definitely choose BLACKPINK sunbaenim! I think their charismatic stage appearances are really cool,” Jini said.

“One of the things that makes them special to me is their ability to put on a perfect performance while never missing an opportunity to communicate with their fans. When I see BLACKPINK’s performances I am really amazed, personally I am also a big fan,” she admitted.

This growing list of idols who publicly declare themselves as BLINKs continues to expand. It has become a trend of sorts, leading fans and online communities to speculate about which celebrities or idols might be the next to fall under the charm and musical influence of BLACKPINK.

The music of the idol group transcends borders and genres, resonating with a diverse range of artists and fans, both in South Korea and worldwide. This phenomenon not only solidifies their global influence but also strengthens their reputation as trendsetters in the K-Pop industry.

Debate Over Jini Leaving NMIXX Reignites Amidst Her Solo Debut

Jini made her official debut as a soloist on Wednesday, October 11, with the mini album An Iron Hand In a Velvet Glove. However, netizens are still left wondering about her sudden departure from K-pop girl group NMIXX.

On the same day of the album launch, Jini held a media showcase to celebrate her fresh start. There, the singer was suddenly questioned about her reason for leaving her former group, NMIXX. 

The show’s MC, Park Seul Gi, immediately spoke on her behalf. “It’s difficult to go into detail as it’s a personal matter. Right now, we’re here to introduce the album,” she said.

A clip of the incident immediately circulated on social media, leaving fans concerned with the artist’s seemingly anxious reaction and trembling voice. 

Despite her difficulty to speak about the matter, Jini carefully clarified: “It’s hard to discuss this due to personal reasons, but I’m determined to debut as a solo artist this time.”

This is the first time that the young idol briefly commented about her departure from NMIXX. As per JYP Entertainment’s statement, Jini terminated her exclusive contract due to personal circumstances. At the time, the singer also didn’t provide additional details about her career move. 

However, her departure came as a shock to NSWERS, NMIXX’s fans, especially that Jini was known as one of the members who trained the longest. Moreover, she left not even a year after NMIXX made their official debut. 

Focusing on Jini and her new beginning

After parting ways with NMIXX and JYP Entertainment in December 2022, Jini found a new home under the entertainment company, ATOC.

After signing with the agency, Jini focused on preparing for her first mini album An Iron Hand In a Velvet Glove. Said album consisted of a total of five songs, including the English title track “C’mon,” featuring American rapper Amine and three other B-sides.

During the media showcase, Jini shared her thoughts about the title song. “When I first heard the demo, I was so fond of the English version that I suggested it to the company,” she explained as to why she opted for the track.

In addition, the singer also took the opportunity to express her appreciation to her devoted fans. “First of all, I would like to say thank you so much for waiting. I want to tell you that I hope to make many memories together for a long time,” she said. 

With a positive mindset, Jini mentioned her ambitions for the future. “I want to show a more positive side of myself in the future, alongside never-seen-before sides of myself. Please look forward to it,”  she declared.

Watch out K-pop fans, former NMIXX member Jini is set to debut as a solo artist soon!

On Thursday, September 14, Jini (formerly romanized as Jinni) announced on her social media account that she will soon embark on a new journey as a soloist. She also dropped the teasers for her first extended play titled An Iron Hand In a Velvet Glove. 

As of writing, additional details, such as release date, concept photos, and tracklist, have yet to be released. Although there’s little information yet about Jini’s solo venture, fans are already anticipating her next move.

Over the previous weeks, the singer has already been hinting about her solo music. 

On September 3, Jini posted a Tiktok clip with the caption “Thanks for waiting for me.” The video featured different moments in her life, including footage of her recording a track and dancing in a studio.

Additionally, on September 12, the idol also teased the fans with a one-minute Youtube video titled “Stay tuned (really).

Following the news of Jini’s much-awaited comeback in the music industry, fans have expressed their excitement. 

“OMG QUEEN IS BACK”, one fan wrote.

Jini’s departure from NMIXX

The announcement of Jini’s solo comeback comes nine months after her departure from both NMIXX and JYP Entertainment. 

As per JYP Entertainment’s statement, Jini terminated her exclusive contract due to personal circumstances. With Jini leaving, the agency said that NMIXX will move forward as a six-member girl group instead. 

However, her departure came as a shock to NSWERS, NMIXX’s fans, especially that Jini was known as one of the members who trained the longest. Moreover, she left not even a year after NMIXX made their official debut. 

NMIXX debuted with the album AD MARE in February 2022. By December 2022, JYPE announced Jini’s departure from the group. Until now, the singer has yet to address the speculations about her departure from NMIXX. 

In May 2023, Jini signed with UAP, which subsequently changed its name to ATOC. With her upcoming album fans are anticipating that Jini will achieve greater heights in her career under the new agency.
