Kim Jae Joong Discusses More Traumatic Sasaeng Encounters

On July 19, a video titled “Stop bothering my brother! Kim Jaejoong” was uploaded on the YouTube channel “Today’s Joo Woo Jae.” In the video, Kim Jae Joong discussed the track “Don’t” from his latest album, explaining, “The song is about Sasaeng fans. While the song’s vibe doesn’t convey this directly, the lyrics have elements of black comedy and bitterness.”

On June 26, 2024, Kim Jae Joong released his fourth full-length album, “FLOWER GARDEN,” to mark his 20th debut anniversary. The track “Don’t” attracted attention for its critical stance toward Sasaeng fans.

The artist reveals frightening experiences with obsessive fans in a recent interview

Joo Woo Jae commented, “I heard various stories back in the day. It was like an urban legend about Jaejoong. When I was young, it seemed like a myth.” He also added, “The (Sasaeng) stories were so extreme that I thought they were exaggerated for entertainment. But later, I found out they were all true, and the reality was even worse than what I heard.”

Kim Jae Joong responded, “Now that time has passed, I can finally tell the truth… but back then, they were really terrifying fans. If Sasaengs went to such lengths, I couldn’t talk about it because I was afraid they might retaliate even more extremely.”

Joo Woo Jae remarked, “Even with stricter laws and measures, I always wondered, ‘How could they get into your house and you couldn’t do anything about it?'”

Kim Jae Joong shared, “At the time, the sentiment was, ‘They’re still fans, how can you talk about fans that way? What’s wrong with a fan visiting you? They might even come to your house.’ But being stalked for a year is truly unbearable.”

He added, “But the punishment for stalkers is only a fine of about 1.5 to 3 million KRW (1,078.81 ~2,157.63 USD). The scarier part is what happens after they pay the fine. The fear of retaliation makes you want to move and leave the area.”

Joo Woo Jae commented, “If I had been active back then and suffered like that, I would want to erase it from my memory quickly or feel uncomfortable if it was mentioned. But turning it into a song shows you have a certain wit and a sense of ease now.”

Kim Jae Joong concluded, “Now, it’s actually kind of cute in retrospect, but at the time, it felt like I was going to die.”

Kim Jaejoong Weighs in on Former TVXQ Member Junsu’s High-Rise Apartment

Singer and actor Kim Jaejoong recently captured the attention of Korean netizens with a witty remark about former TVXQ member Kim Junsu’s house. It also sheds light on Jaejoong’s thoughts about the type of home he wants.

Kim Jaejoong Dishes on Former TVXQ Member Junsu’s Luxurious Home

During his appearance on KBS Cool FM’s “Park Myungsoo’s Radio Show” on July 14, Jaejoong shared insights into his current lifestyle and living conditions.

Jaejoong revealed that he now prefers spending time at home, a notable change from his previous social habits. He stated, “I used to love hanging out with people, but lately, I’ve grown fond of staying at home and keeping it tidy.” This shift in preference has allowed him to enjoy a quieter, more relaxed lifestyle.

The conversation took a lighthearted turn when host Park Myungsoo brought up Junsu, Jaejoong’s former bandmate from TVXQ and JYJ. Park inquired if Jaejoong’s home was as stylishly decorated as Junsu’s.

In response, Jaejoong joked about the differences between their living situations. He humorously mentioned that, unlike Junsu, who resides in a luxurious high-rise apartment, he lives on the lowest floor. Jaejoong’s playful comment highlighted the contrast in their living arrangements despite Junsu’s high-profile purchase.

Kim Jaejoong Reveals Shocking Sasaeng Encounters

Former TVXQ member Kim Jaejoong recently shared his terrifying experiences with intrusive sasaeng fans. On June 26, Jaejoong released his 20th-anniversary album, which includes the song “Don’t,” directly addressing the issue of these obsessive fans. During an appearance on SBS Power FM’s ‘Cultwo Show’ on July 1, he discussed how sasaengs frequently invaded his dormitory and even broke into his home.

Kim Jaejoong recounts terrifying experiences with obsessive fans invading his privacy

One particularly disturbing incident involved a sasaeng fan who entered his house and stood over him while he slept. Jaejoong recounted, “One night, I dreamt of being kissed by a woman. It felt too real to be a dream. When I opened my eyes, a woman was standing over me with her hair covering her face except for her eyes.” He pleaded with fans to respect his privacy, saying, “Please, don’t do such things.” His candid revelations highlight the severe and often frightening invasions of privacy that K-pop stars endure due to sasaeng fans.

Previously, on June 25, Jaejoong appeared in an interview with Inkode Entertainment. He shared his struggles with paranoia and the mental toll these invasions have taken on him. He described feeling like a prisoner in his own home after receiving a photo of himself taken inside his house from an unknown number. “I became paranoid, constantly looking around like a prisoner,” he admitted. Despite the harassment, Jaejoong found strength through these experiences, though he confessed that he considered escaping to another world to find peace. His story underscores the need for stronger protections for artists against such extreme invasions of privacy.

He also shared how he resonated with singer and actress IU, who had taken a firm stance against obsessive fans by pursuing legal action. “IU once stated that such individuals aren’t fans, and she’s absolutely right. Liking someone doesn’t excuse criminal behavior. IU was a pioneer in changing this perception.”

He added, “Even if you admire someone, you must be held accountable for any criminal actions. We now live in an era where we can address this issue confidently. Thank you, IU,” he concluded gratefully.

Kim Jaejoong’s Shocked Reaction to K.Will’s ‘Please Don’t’ MV Goes Viral

During a recent episode of his YouTube show JaeFriends, second-generation K-pop idol Kim Jaejoong watched K.Will’s music video for “Please Don’t” for the first time. He went viral for his epic reaction, a video of which has since amassed over a million views on X (formerly Twitter). Despite their long-standing friendship of over 20 years, Jaejoong admitted to not having watched all of K.Will’s videos, which set the stage for a surprising revelation.

The “Please Don’t” music video is known for its twist ending, which broke new ground in South Korean media at the time of its release. It features Ahn Jae Hyun, Seo In Guk, and SISTAR’s Dasom in a love triangle. At the end of the video, viewers find out that Seo In Guk’s character is in love with Ahn Jae Hyun’s character, not Dasom’s. When Jaejoong watched the video, he misunderstood the plot. At first, he believed the video was about the female character’s romantic problems. K.Will wondered if they were watching the same thing.

Jaejoong isn’t homophobic

When the video ended, Jaejoong exclaimed, “What’s going on? What’s wrong with this ending?” His reaction, captured live, showed the former TVXQ member struggling to process what he saw. This sparked angry and disappointed responses from JaeFriends viewers. They thought Jaejoong reacted that way because he was uncomfortable with the homosexual theme of the video. However, others came to his defense, sharing that they were also surprised by the video’s ending when they first saw it. They viewed Jaejoong’s reaction as a natural response to an unexpected plot twist.

His supporters also pointed out his history of engaging with BL (Boys’ Love) content and his well-documented fan service, which often included playful interactions with bandmate U-Know Yunho. Furthermore, Jaejoong has been spotted reading Japanese yaoi manga in public. He also promoted BL K-drama The Eighth Sense on his socials and contributed an OST to Mr. Heart, another drama of the same genre. Fans believe this shows Jaejoong isn’t homophobic.
