‘RAP:PUBLIC’ to Remove KOALA’s Footage After Involvement in Fan Assault Incident

TVING’s popular hip-hop survival show “RAP:PUBLIC” has officially announced that footage of KOALA will be removed. The announcement was made following the producer-rapper’s involvement in a recent assault incident involving a young fan of Jessi.

KOALA To Be Removed From New ‘RAP:PUBLIC’ Episodes

On October 25, the show’s representatives stated, “From episode 4 onwards, the footage involving KOALA has been edited out. Future episodes will also be edited accordingly.” This decision underscores the show’s commitment to maintaining a positive viewing experience amid the incident’s controversy.

“RAP:PUBLIC” is a high-stakes hip-hop competition where contestants compete in rap battles, emphasizing both lyrical skill and strategy. KOALA, who has been an active contestant on the 6Block team, was a notable figure on the show. His abrupt exit has stirred discussion among fans, especially given his track record in the industry as a producer. He previously collaborated with major artists, most notably working with Jessi on popular hits such as “What Type of X,” “Cold Blooded,” and “NUNU NANA.”

The controversy surrounding KOALA began on September 29 in Gangnam, Seoul. During this incident, a minor fan of Jessi, known as “A,” requested a photo with the artist. However, rather than a positive interaction, “A” reportedly experienced verbal abuse and physical assault from someone accompanying Jessi. Jessi, who attempted to defuse the situation, soon left the scene and later clarified that she did not know the person responsible for the initial assault.

Further investigation revealed that KOALA was involved as well. CCTV footage showed KOALA threatening the fan, allegedly pushing their stomach and shoving them with his head. This disclosure intensified the backlash, as KOALA’s actions and his professional connection to Jessi added to the case’s gravity.

KOALA’s removal from “RAP:PUBLIC” reflects a swift response from the show, prioritizing viewer comfort and public sentiment. The show’s decision to edit out his appearances marks a significant stance in the industry, underscoring a no-tolerance policy toward misconduct.
