Former N.CUS Member Soon Reveals Girlfriend, Quits Being an Idol

Former N.CUS member Soon, known as Nam Seung Hyun, recently caused a stir by revealing his girlfriend on social media. Soon, who participated in the survival program “My Teenage Boy: Fantasy Boys,” went viral among Japanese fans on July 4 after sharing photos and matching Instagram bios with his girlfriend. The public posts quickly garnered over two million views on X, sparking a wave of mixed reactions from fans.

Many fans expressed disappointment and anger, questioning Soon’s intentions and commitment to his career. Comments included, “It’s gross to do this on an account your fans follow,” and “Why did you say you would work harder during your birthday cafe event if this was your dream?”

In response, Nam Seung Hyun apologized for the controversy, clarifying that he did not have a girlfriend during “Fantasy Boys” and met his current partner after his contract with the agency ended. He emphasized their serious relationship and asked fans to avoid speculating excessively about his girlfriend. Despite the backlash, Soon expressed gratitude for the support he received from fans, which helped him through challenging times.

Soon issues a statement

“Hello, this is Nam Seung Hyun.

I apologize for causing concern to the fans regarding the current controversy. I would like to address the situation and the misunderstandings.

Firstly, during the filming of ‘Fantasy Boys’, I did not have a girlfriend. I was genuinely dedicated to the program, dreaming of becoming an idol again. I worked hard, motivated by the love and support from the fans, and I tried to reciprocate that love.

He continued: “Currently, my contract with the agency has ended. I am now a regular person who no longer dreams of becoming an idol. I met my girlfriend after the program ended, and we are seriously discussing marriage. I hope you can refrain from making excessive speculations about my girlfriend, who is a regular person like myself.”

“As a trainee, I thought it was necessary to inform the fans that my contract with the agency had ended and that I was no longer pursuing the dream of becoming an idol. I believed it was a responsible situation. Due to my mistake of not mentioning my girlfriend, it has led to the current situation. I apologize for the disappointment,” he added.

“Thank you for your support until now. Your support helped me endure tough times,” he concluded.
