Sunwoo of THE BOYZ is set to take on the role of the new host for the idol-centric MBC radio program “Idol Radio” Season 4. The announcement marks a significant change in the hosting lineup, with Sunwoo succeeding ATEEZ’s Hongjoong and Yunho in steering the popular show.

“I aim to be a DJ who can bring out the charm of each idol guest that fans would love to see,” he said in a statement.

Sunwoo’s appointment as the host brings a fresh perspective and energy to the program. THE BOYZ member is expected to bring his unique charisma and rapport with fellow idols to create an entertaining and engaging atmosphere on the show. Fans are anticipating exciting interactions and memorable moments as Sunwoo takes on this new challenge in his career.

In addition to his regular duties as the DJ for “Idol Radio”, Sunwoo will also serve as the MC for “Idol Radio Live in Yokohama” on March 26 at K-Arena Yokohama. This live event will also provide fans with a unique opportunity to witness Sunwoo’s hosting skills and enjoy performances by THE BOYZ.

THE BOYZ’ Sunwoo Diagnosed With Neuralgia and Neuritis

Amid THE BOYZ’ promotional activities for their latest EP Sixth Sense, member Sunwoo is grappling with the hurdles of neuralgia and neuritis. 

On Friday, November 24, THE BOYZ agency IST Entertainment provided an update on Sunwoo’s health condition, as well as his involvement in the group’s comeback promotions. 

According to the label, the idol complained of neck and shoulder pain on the morning of November 24. Although the initial plan was to promptly take him to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment, Sunwoo expressed a strong desire to participate in THE BOYZ‘ performance on the day’s episode of Music Bank.” In light of his wish, IST Entertainment decided to transport him to the hospital after the pre-recording.

Later that evening, the agency issued a statement revealing that following the hospital visit, Sunwoo had received a diagnosis of neuralgia and neuritis affecting the neck and shoulders. 

According to HealthDirect, neuralgia, or nerve pain, “occurs when a health condition affects the nerves that carry sensations to the brain.” Meanwhile, neuritis is the inflammation of one or more nerves, according to Brittanica. 

Despite medical advice recommending restraint from excessive movements,  IST Entertainment says that  Sunwoo wants to continue participating in THE BOYZ’ activities.

 

 “As Sunwoo expressed strong determination to take part in album promotions, we chose to respect the artist’s opinion. And it was decided that he would continue activities insofar as he can without overexerting himself,” the agency said. 

Moreover, the label said that the idol will undergo continuous treatment so that his condition will not worsen.

Fans express worry for THE BOYZ’ Sunwoo 

Although IST Entertainment promises fans that they will put their artist’s health as their top priority, fans couldn’t help but worry for the well-being of THE BOYZ. 

In particular, Sunwoo also had to take a hiatus from group activities due to health difficulties in August 2022. At the time, the agency said that the idol had “complained of health difficulties and worsening of his condition.” 

Meanwhile, Ju Haknyeon also recently announced his hiatus due to back injury. According to IST Entertainment, the idol has been experiencing back pain for some time, and his condition has recently aggravated. With this, Ju Haknyeon won’t be able to participate in THE BOYZ’ promotional activities for Sixth Sense, as well as the group’s world tour. 

Now that two members of THE BOYZ are experiencing body discomfort, fans are expressing their concern for the group’s welfare.

According to the idol, he was concerned that his fan had enhanced the image which could lead to disappointment when the truth is revealed. However, it looks like Kim Sun-woo had nothing to worry about.

Sunwoo Makes Unexpected Request To THE B About Infamous Fan Cam Moment

Younghoon, Eric, and Sunwoo from THE BOYZ recently graced the set of “The K-Star Next Door,” hosted by the charismatic TV personality and actor Jonathan Thona. In a lighthearted and candid conversation, the host couldn’t help but delve into some amusing and curious aspects of the members’ personalities.

Younghoon’s distinct fashion choice, particularly his penchant for not wearing pants, became a topic of discussion. Eric’s preference for going shirtless also sparked interest. However, the conversation took a humorous turn when the topic shifted to Sunwoo’s infamous “photoshopped abs” picture.

The host displayed the photo in question, which was captured during their electrifying “THE BOYZ 2ND WORLD TOUR: ZENERATION” concert in Bangkok. Sunwoo, known for his playful nature, decided to clarify his role as the member with the least pronounced muscles within the group. Yet, during the exact moment captured in the fan cam, Sunwoo couldn’t resist flexing to prove that he indeed had some muscles of his own.

Sunwoo then hilariously confessed that he initially believed fans had doctored the image to exaggerate the appearance of his muscles. It wasn’t until later that he realized the photo was unaltered. In a comical twist, he requested THE B not to reveal the original picture if it had been edited because he preferred not to know the unaltered truth.

When Jonathan brought up Sunwoo’s request, the member candidly admitted to making such a plea to fans and playfully suggested that it might be “dangerous” if the actual unedited photo surfaced. This delightful exchange showcased the humor and camaraderie within the group, endearing them even further to their fans.

THE BOYZ recently made their comeback with the track “Lip Gloss” on August 7, 2023.

THE BOYZ are going back on tour. The 11-member boy group officially announced their second world tour starting with three dates in Seoul this May.

IST Entertainment confirmed the news by sharing an official teaser for ‘THE BOYZ 2ND WORLD TOUR: ZENERATION’. The poster confirms that the tour will kick off with three shows in Seoul from May 19 to 21, 2023.

THE BOYZ are preparing to make stops in Japan and a number of Asian countries as well. The tour’s host cities and detailed schedule have not been announced. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

‘THE BOYZ 2ND WORLD TOUR: ZENERATION’ is the group’s second world tour. The idols held their first world tour ‘THE B-ZONE’ last year with stops in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Sunwoo Discusses What Inspires Him To Write THE BOYZ’s Songs

In related news, THE BOYZ member Sunwoo made waves by gracing the pages of Elle Korea’s May issue. During his interview with the magazine, Sunwoo spoke about his inspiration for writing music for the group.

“Just as THE B and THE BOYZ experience joys and sorrows together, as the years go by, I think I naturally find myself relating to feelings of heartache,” he said.

Sunwoo also explained that he looks inside himself to find the driving force in his career.

“[It’s] my certainty in myself,” he said. “If I didn’t have confidence, I wouldn’t be able to keep going.”

THE BOYZ’s most recent release is their eighth EP ‘Be Awake’ which consists of six new tracks including the lead single “Roar”.

Fan club pre-sales for the ‘ZENERATION’ Seoul dates will be held on April 28, 2023. General reservations will be opened on May 2, 2023, through the ticket booking site Yes24. The rest of the dates and locations have not yet been announced.
