GOT7 Jinyoung Discusses New Drama ‘The Witch’

Jinyoung has revealed more details about his character and the intriguing storyline of Channel A’s highly anticipated drama “The Witch”!

‘The Witch’ Star Park Jinyoung Discusses New Mystery Romance Drama

The drama, based on a webtoon by “Moving” author Kang Full, is a mystery romance that unravels the enigmatic story of Mi Jung (played by Roh Jeong Eui), a woman infamously known as the “witch.” Mi Jung was forced to leave her village after a string of tragic deaths involving men who fell in love with her. The story follows Dong Jin (played by GOT7’s Jinyoung), a brilliant data miner who is determined to rescue Mi Jung from the curse of misfortune that surrounds her.

Making his acting return after completing military service, Jinyoung takes on the role of Dong Jin, a top-tier data analyst. In high school, Dong Jin quietly admired Mi Jung but never confessed his feelings before she was driven away. Now, as an adult, Dong Jin uses his skills in big data to investigate the mysterious deaths and uncover the truth behind Mi Jung’s supposed curse, embarking on a journey filled with romance, suspense, and self-discovery.

“The idea of wanting to protect someone you love from afar felt incredibly fresh, and I was also curious about how director Kim Tae Kyun would bring it to life,” Park said when explaining why he took on the role.

Speaking about his character, Jinyoung described Dong Jin as a solitary individual who leads a quiet life, with no significant hobbies and few friends. “Dong Jin is like a genius who focuses intensely on one thing at a time,” he said. “When he’s working or investigating the curse tied to Mi Jung, I wanted to portray the feeling that he’s so absorbed, it’s as if he doesn’t hear or see anything else around him.”

He expressed excitement about portraying the complexity of Dong Jin’s personality and his emotional evolution throughout the drama. “It was important to first find a tone I could believe in for someone who is so absorbed in his own world,” Park explained.

“The Witch” is set to premiere on February 15 at 9:10 p.m. KST, following the conclusion of “Check in Hanyang”. Fans are eagerly anticipating Jinyoung’s performance and the gripping tale of mystery and romance that lies ahead!
