VIXX’s N Receives Backlash for Bringing Up Absence in Group Comeback

N, also known as Cha Hak Yeon, faced renewed backlash from fans following an interview where he expressed regret over not participating in VIXX’s recent group comeback. The controversy stems from the timing of the interview, which coincided with VIXX’s ‘CONTINUUM’ concerts on December 9 and 10, events that N did not take part in.

N Comments on Absence in VIXX’s Recent Group Comeback

In November, N had already disappointed fans by announcing his absence from VIXX’s first group comeback in four years. Despite his attempt to address fans through a handwritten letter, he faced criticism and accusations of abandoning the group.

The recent interview reignited fans’ discontent, with many expressing frustration over the timing of N’s comments. Netizens questioned the appropriateness of discussing his regrets just before VIXX’s concerts, and some accused him of lacking sincerity. There were calls for N to officially leave the group if he felt remorseful but wasn’t actively participating in VIXX’s activities.

Online comments ranged from urging N to stop mentioning VIXX and pursue his solo career to questioning his commitment to the group. Some fans expressed disappointment with N’s perceived lack of passion for VIXX’s choreographies and suggested that he should formally leave the group.

The controversy reflects the delicate dynamics between idols and their fanbases, where communication and timing play crucial roles in maintaining trust and understanding. N’s statements, while intended to convey regret, inadvertently reignited tensions and sparked further discussions about his connection to VIXX. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how N and VIXX will address the concerns of fans and navigate the complexities of their evolving relationship.

Jellyfish Entertainment previously made a significant announcement regarding VIXX’s upcoming mini album ‘Continuum’ which was released on November 21, 2023. The album was highly anticipated as it marks VIXX’s first new album in four years since their 2019 release ‘PARALLEL.’ However, the group promoted with only three members due to N’s absence.

VIXX Confirmed for 3-Member Comeback as N Sits Out Upcoming Activities

VIXX is preparing for new music, but a key member will not be participating in their latest effort. It has just been confirmed that the idol group is set for a 3-member comeback without N who will sit out upcoming activities. Since then, Cha Hakyeon has shared a handwritten letter explaining his decision to sit out the comeback.

VIXX Preparing for 3-Member Comeback with ‘Continuum’

Jellyfish Entertainment has made a significant announcement regarding VIXX’s upcoming mini album, ‘Continuum,’ which is set to be released on November 21 at 6 PM KST. To celebrate the upcoming release, the agency shared a teaser for the new EP. The album is highly anticipated as it marks VIXX’s first new album in four years since their 2019 release, ‘PARALLEL.’

However, what makes this release unique is that it will be a 3-member comeback with Ken, Hyuk, and Leo. Jellyfish Entertainment did not provide an explanation for the absence of other members, and notably, N has not officially departed from the group.

Luckily, N himself explained the decision in a handwritten letter shared on social media.

“I’m sorry that I couldn’t participate in the activities for this album so I can’t greet you on stage,” he continued. “I’ve been talking and discussing with the members for a long time, but in the end, I was unable to participate in this activity as a VIXX leader N, and I’m sorry to disappoint the fans once again.

Why Did N Decide Against Joining the VIXX Comeback?

N’s agency 51K confirmed that the VIXX leader had a scheduling conflict with his drama filming. They confirmed that Cha Hakyeon had decided to sit out the comeback after a thorough discussion with the members.

The revelation has left fans curious about the direction that VIXX’s music and concept will take with three members at the forefront. The absence of an important member has also sparked discussions and speculations within the fandom regarding the dynamics and style of the group’s upcoming release.

As the release date approaches, STARLIGHTs eagerly await more details and teasers to get a glimpse of what ‘Continuum’ has in store, hoping to witness the unique musical journey these three talented members will embark upon while keeping the spirit of VIXX alive.

Ravi Leaves VIXX, Issues Apology for Military-Related Scandal

Ravi has officially left VIXX. Jellyfish Entertainment confirmed the rapper’s departure in an official statement. Kim Wonsik also issued an apology following his military-related scandal.

Ravi’s Departure From VIXX Confirmed By Jellyfish Entertainment

Jellyfish Entertainment shared an official statement confirming Ravi’s departure from VIXX. “After careful discussion between Ravi and the agency, it was decided that he will leave the team as of today,” the statement read. The agency also apologized “for causing trouble to the fans who support VIXX.”

Ravi Issues Apology To Fans, Epilepsy Patients

For his part, Ravi issued an apology addressing the controversy. The rapper admitted that he tried to postpone his military service for the benefit of his label GROOVL1N. He also explained why he decided to take drastic measures and ended up violating the Military Service Act.

“In the past, I was assigned to public service due to illness I had. I was postponing my service for my activities when I reached the point where it was difficult to postpone my service any further,” Ravi wrote.

“I was the only artist in the company generating profits, and the implementation dates for the contracts that were signed before COVID-19 were being postponed without certainty. So with the burden of contract cancellation charges, I was desperate to delay my military service,” he continued.

Kim Wonsik also apologized to “the epilepsy patients and their families who must have been hurt by this self-justified wrong decision.” He extended his apologies to those who are “diligently carrying out their duty even at this moment.”

“I think I am a person who is lacking a lot and still has much to learn. I think it is my responsibility to take all the criticism over this incident. The more you scold me, the more I will repent and learn from it,” Ravi wrote.

What Happened To Ravi’s Military Enlistment?

Earlier in 2023, a group of brokers were arrested on charges of corruption to evade military service. The group worked by designating their clients to a neurologist who then provides a false medical diagnosis of epilepsy. This allows the client to be exempted from military service or receive a lesser military grade.  The brokers promoted their services by claiming they helped a famous idol rapper, who turned out to be Ravi.

The first trial for eight individuals on charges of violating the Military Service Act was held on April 11, 2023. The individuals included Ravi, GROOVL1N co-CEO “A”, and Nafla who is also under the same label. During the trial, the prosecution requested two-year sentences for Ravi and “A” as well as two years and six months for Nafla.
