Kep1er has cancelled an upcoming fan signing event due to health concerns affecting 4 Kep1er members.
4 Kep1er Members Fall Ill, Pushing for Fan Signing Event Cancellation
On December 27, the group’s agency released a statement. It announced that members Yujin and Hikaru had tested positive for Type A influenza. This came just one day after Chaehyun and Dahyun were confirmed to have contracted the same virus.
“We are informing you that the fan signing event scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 28 has been cancelled entirely due to members Yujin and Hikaru also being diagnosed with Type A influenza,” the statement read.
“All of the members visited the hospital this morning and were tested for Type A influenza, and a total of four Kep1er members were diagnosed with the virus. In accordance with the doctor’s opinion that all of the members need isolation and rest, the scheduled fan signing event has been cancelled,” it added.
“As this decision to cancel the event was for the artists’ health and the fans’ safety, we ask for your understanding,” the statement continued. “Information regarding refunds for the fan signing event will be delivered through the record company. Once again, we apologize to the fans who were waiting [for the event], and we will do our utmost to help our artists recover their health.”
Fans React to Fan Sign Event Cancellation
The announcement sparked strong reactions online. While many expressed genuine concern for the well-being of Yujin, Hikaru, Chaehyun, and Dahyun, others criticized the delay in canceling the event. Some netizens argued that the fan signing should have been called off immediately after the first two diagnoses were revealed to prevent the virus from potentially spreading further.
Fans also voiced concerns about the group’s overall schedule, pointing out that the members appear to be overworked and in need of proper rest. Many urged the agency to ensure Kep1er has adequate time to recover fully.
