Park Hyung Sik recently graced the pages of Singles Korea magazine, participating in a stunning pictorial and an engaging interview about his upcoming drama “Buried Hearts”.
How Park Hyung Sik Prepared for ‘Buried Hearts’
During the photo shoot, Park showcased his charisma, perfectly embodying the magazine’s sleek and modern aesthetic.
In the accompanying interview, he delved into the intricacies of his character in “Buried Hearts”, a suspenseful drama centered around greed, betrayal, and unintended consequences. The story follows a man who successfully hacks a political slush fund account containing a staggering 2 trillion won (approximately $1.39 billion). However, another man, unaware of the hack, murders him, unwittingly losing the entire fortune.
Park discussed the challenges of portraying a darker, more complex character, marking a significant transformation in his acting journey.
“I think people may have a fixed image of me as an actor,” he said. “So when this project was offered to me, I was amazed. I was also curious about what the director saw in me and felt grateful for the opportunity.”
“It’s an actor’s job to show different sides, but the timing wasn’t right before, and roles like this didn’t come my way,” Park added. “After returning from the military and getting older, I finally found a project like this and thought I could show a new side of myself.”
He also reflected on the drama’s intense premise, hinting at the layered storytelling behind its Korean title.
“I think everyone has their own ‘treasure island,’ whether it’s career success or the amount of money they want to make,” Park said. “But what happens if my treasure island is the same as someone else’s? When someone’s treasure island is at risk of being taken, it shows how fierce, ruthless, and even cruel people can become.”
“That’s what this show explores,” he added. “The desires and ambitions of individuals clash, leading to uncontrollable events. While filming, I spent a lot of time reflecting on what my own treasure island is and what goals I should be pursuing in life.”
