K-pop boy group BOYNEXTDOOR made their mark in the world of webtoons with their collaborative OST for the Naver webtoon series, Garbage Time.
Titled “Fadeaway,” BOYNEXTDOOR released the soundtrack on Tuesday, November 7. According to agency KOZ Entertainment, the song is described to exude a vibrant and energetic band sound reminiscent of a lively sports arena anthem.
Interestingly, it seems a perfect match for the theme of Garbage Time, a webtoon inspired by the story of the basketball team at Busan Jungang High School.
Moreover, Garbage Time, which is updated every Sunday on Naver Webtoon, delves into the journey of a newly appointed basketball team coach at Jisang High School. The team was considered the weakest in the nation, and the said coach led them towards the national competition.
Furthermore, Garbage Time has gained recognition by reaching the quarterfinals of Naver’s open webtoon contest in 2017. Also, it further received the esteemed “Today’s Webtoon” award from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in 2023.
As to their thoughts about the collaboration, BOYNEXTDOOR expressed that they’d like the song to convey the message of living in the present moment without regrets.
On top of that, the members also shared that they also feel familiar with the webtoon characters. As they think that they’re similar in working hard together to achieve their goals.
