BTS has achieved yet another incredible milestone with an official gold certification in the United Kingdom! The Japanese album ‘Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~’ is officially the ninth album from the group to achieve the feat!

‘Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~’ Earns Gold Certification in the UK

This week, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) announced that BTS’s 2020 Japanese album ‘Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~’ had earned a gold BRIT certification. This marks the group’s ninth album to achieve gold status in the UK, a testament to their global impact and enduring popularity.

Under the BPI’s certification thresholds, albums are certified gold after selling 100,000 units, while singles require 400,000 units to reach the same milestone. ‘Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~’ now joins an illustrious lineup of BTS albums that have achieved gold certification in the UK, including ‘Love Yourself: Answer’, ‘Map of the Soul: Persona’, ‘Map of the Soul: 7’, ‘Face Yourself’, ‘Love Yourself: Tear’, ‘The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever’, ‘Love Yourself: Her’, and ‘Proof’.

Released in 2020, ‘Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~’ was a monumental success, becoming BTS’s sixth album to debut at number one in Japan. It was their second chart-topping album of that year, following ‘Map of the Soul: 7’. The album sold an impressive 500,000 copies within just two days of release and broke records with first-week sales of 564,000 copies, earning the title of the most sold album of the year at the time.

This achievement highlights BTS’s far-reaching influence, as their music continues to resonate with fans worldwide, transcending language and cultural barriers. Needless to say, it will only be a matter of time before the other albums achieve the same feat in the United Kingdom and around the world.

Congratulations to BTS for yet another remarkable milestone, and here’s to more records and certifications in the future!
