EXO member Chanyeol has once again demonstrated his generosity and love for animals with a meaningful donation in honor of International Puppy Day.

EXO Chanyeol Celebrates Puppy Day with Generous Donation

On March 21, the Animal Freedom Alliance (led by CEO Cho Hee-kyung) announced that Chanyeol had donated 30 million won (approximately 22,000 USD) to the organization. This contribution was made in celebration of International Puppy Day, which falls on March 23. The donation will go towards providing prescription feed for rescued animals, helping them regain their health and ensuring they can live stable lives in a safe environment.

The Animal Freedom Alliance is a civic organization dedicated to rescuing, protecting, and rehoming animals in crisis. Currently, they care for approximately 400 animals that have been saved from situations involving abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

Chanyeol’s donation holds even greater significance as it was made using proceeds from character merchandise inspired by his beloved pet dogs Zzar and Toben, which went on sale during his solo concert tour ‘(City-scape) in Asia’. Furthermore, he made the donation under the name of EXO’s official fan club, EXO-L, reflecting his deep appreciation for the fans who support him and share his passion for animal welfare.

Jo Hee-kyung, head of the Korean Animal Welfare Association, expressed her gratitude, stating, “Thanks to people like Chanyeol and EXO-L, who extend a helping hand with warm hearts, rescued animals can heal and live a new life.” She also emphasized that acts of kindness from influential artists serve as inspiration for others to do good.

This act of kindness is not an isolated event for Chanyeol. Since his debut in 2012, he has actively participated in various charitable initiatives, consistently using his platform to make a positive impact. His commitment to philanthropy extends beyond financial donations—he has also dedicated time to volunteering. Since 2024, he has been taking part in volunteer activities alongside SM Entertainment executives and employees, focusing on helping abandoned dogs and cats.
