‘Inkigayo’ Takes Broadcast Break for ‘2024 Paris Olympics’

SBS’s popular music show “Inkigayo” will be on a broadcast break for three weeks to accommodate the network’s coverage of the ‘2024 Paris Olympics.’

SBS Confirms ‘Inkigayo’ Broadcast Break In Favor of ‘2024 Paris Olympics’

On July 19 KST, the “Inkigayo” team announced on their official website that the show would be taking a break starting from July 21. This hiatus will allow SBS to provide extensive coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics, a major international event that draws significant viewer interest.

According to the announcement, “Inkigayo” will not be broadcast on July 21, July 28, and August 4. The show is scheduled to resume airing on August 11, allowing fans to once again enjoy performances from their favorite K-pop artists. The temporary break underscores the importance of the Olympics and the network’s commitment to bringing comprehensive coverage of the games to its audience.

A Fitting Substitute

In place of the July 21 episode of “Inkigayo”, SBS has hosted the ‘2024 SBS Gayo Daejeon Summer’ at Inspire Arena in Incheon. This special event, hosted by IVE’s Yujin, NCT’s Doyoung, and TXT’s Yeonjun, will celebrate the successful first half of 2024 with a series of special performances.

The “Gayo Daejeon Summer” event was a spectacular showcase of talent, featuring some of the biggest names in K-pop. It serves as a fitting substitute for “Inkigayo” during its hiatus, ensuring that fans still have access to top-tier musical entertainment. Nevertheless, fans are still looking forward to the return of the music variety show and its beloved host in the second week of August.

While the break from “Inkigayo” may be disappointing for some fans, the network’s comprehensive Olympic coverage and the “Gayo Daejeon Summer” event also provide exciting alternatives. Fans can also look forward to the return of “Inkigayo” on August 11, when the show will resume its regular schedule and continue to highlight the latest and greatest in K-pop music.
