Jessi recently made headlines after parting ways with her agency DOD Entertainment following an incident involving an underage fan. Since then, the rapper issued a new apology for the fan assault incident.

DOD Entertainment Confirms Jessi’s Departure

The situation, which took place on September 29 in Gangnam, Seoul, unfolded when an underage fan, referred to as “A,” approached Jessi, requesting a photo. Reports indicate that a person accompanying Jessi verbally abused and physically assaulted the young fan. Although Jessi intervened to stop the incident, she soon departed the scene. Following this, she publicly stated that she was unfamiliar with the person who committed the assault.

In the wake of the incident, the victim filed legal complaints against all involved, including Jessi. The Gangnam Police Station has since summoned her for questioning as a suspect in connection with the assault. This questioning took place on October 16, and the ongoing investigation appears to be gathering more information on the incident.

Two days later, on October 18, Jessi’s agency, DOD, released a statement confirming the termination of their exclusive contract with her, ending their partnership.

“After extensive discussions about her future activities, we have decided to terminate our exclusive contract with Jessi as of October 18, 2024, at her request and after careful consideration,” the statement read.

Jessi’s Second Apology

Shortly after, Jessi issued another public apology, acknowledging the incident and expressing regret for the situation.

“Even though I caused this situation, my inappropriate behavior, attitude, and failure to respond have harmed many, including the victim. I have made them feel betrayed and angry,” she wrote.

“I regretted this tens of thousands of times. I wish I could turn back time,” Jessi added. “If I had taken a photo with the victim, done more to protect the victim, gone straight to the police, or offered a proper apology, the victim would not have suffered so much. I take full responsibility for this.”

“I know I cannot be forgiven with just these words. However, I am committed to correcting my mistakes and helping the victim recover, even if it’s late,” Jessi concluded.

As investigations proceed, this departure signals a challenging time for the artist.
