Kim Byung Chul has opened up about his role in the upcoming mystery thriller drama “Perfect Family.” This new series, based on a popular webtoon, follows a seemingly happy and perfect family that starts to suspect each other when their daughter becomes entangled in a murder case. Directed by the acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Isao Yukisada, “Perfect Family” marks his debut in Korean drama.

Kim Byung Chul plays Choi Jin Hyuk, the adoptive father and lawyer of Choi Sun Hee, portrayed by Park Ju Hyun. Dedicated to his daughter, Jin Hyuk even changed careers from a prosecutor to a lawyer to better support her.
“I was intrigued by the plot and eager to see how the story would unfold as I read the script,” Kim Byung Chul said, explaining what drew him to the project. “The script’s ability to sustain excitement and tension was compelling.” He also expressed his enthusiasm about working with a Japanese director for the first time, noting, “I was keen to see how the script’s mysterious atmosphere would translate to the screen.”

Discussing his character, Kim Byung Chul explained, “Choi Jin Hyuk is the head of a family that appears perfect to everyone, but he gradually changes when faced with a sudden crisis. I find his process of transformation particularly fascinating. I approached the role by considering what he desires and the influences he receives and gives within his complex relationships with the various people in his life.”
Kim Byung Chul also praised the harmonious atmosphere on set and his co-stars, especially Yoon Se Ah, with whom he previously worked as a married couple in the hit drama “Sky Castle.” He commented, “Yoon Se Ah, whom I reunited with as an on-screen couple, always brought positive energy to the set, which had a good influence on me and contributed to a smooth and successful filming experience.”
In closing, he encouraged viewers, saying, “Please give a lot of interest and tune in to ‘Perfect Family.’”
“Perfect Family” is set to premiere on August 14 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
