SEVENTEEN has pledged a $1 million donation to UNESCO and launched a campaign to support youth initiatives.

SEVENTEEN’s Generous Donation to UNESCO Aims to Empower Youth

On the afternoon of June 26 (KST), SEVENTEEN visited the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, where they were appointed as UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors for Youth. During the visit, the group delivered a heartfelt 10-minute acceptance speech, with member Joshua representing the 13 members of SEVENTEEN.

In his speech, Joshua shared the group’s journey of learning and growth that led them to become youth ambassadors. Reflecting on their nine-year career, he noted that SEVENTEEN’s music has always conveyed the genuine experiences and emotions of its members during their youth. This authenticity has allowed them to connect deeply with their fans, known as “Carats,” throughout all stages of their youth, forming a strong bond and sense of belonging with the younger generation.

Joshua emphasized that SEVENTEEN’s experiences embody the essence of youth, and they have developed a mission to represent and support the dreams of young people. This mission has driven SEVENTEEN to begin their philanthropic efforts. Since 2017, they have donated funds to organizations focused on children’s welfare. In 2022, they collaborated with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO to launch the “Going Together” global campaign, aimed at promoting youth education.

SEVENTEEN for the Future

Now, SEVENTEEN plans to elevate this campaign by partnering with UNESCO headquarters to launch the “Global Youth Grant Scheme,” supported by their $1 million donation. Joshua stated, “SEVENTEEN believes in the bright ideas and strong will of young people to create a better world. We pledge to support these ideas and provide funding.”

He encouraged youth to cherish their dreams and seek camaraderie, reassuring them that they are not alone. Borrowing lyrics from their hit song “Super,” Joshua expressed, “I love my team, I love my crew,” extending this sentiment to all young people and declaring them part of SEVENTEEN’s team and crew.

The event concluded with the members greeting the audience in various languages, including English, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese, with messages like “Your dreams are our dance,” “Your dreams are our motivation,” and “Your dreams are our future.”

Through their visit to UNESCO and the launch of the “Global Youth Grant Scheme,” SEVENTEEN has demonstrated their commitment to empowering and supporting young people around the world. Their substantial donation and continued efforts to promote youth education and welfare reflect their dedication to making a positive impact on the global community.
