Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon has had to cancel her highly anticipated solo Tokyo concerts, leaving fans heartbroken just days before the event.

‘THE TENSE’ Tokyo Concerts Cancelled

On April 17, SM Entertainment released an official statement confirming that “The ODD Of LOVE: The TENSE” concert in Tokyo, originally scheduled for April 19 and 20 at Ariake Arena, has been canceled. The concert was meant to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Taeyeon’s solo debut, making it an especially meaningful occasion for both the artist and her fans.

In the announcement, SM Entertainment expressed deep regret over the unexpected cancellation and extended a sincere apology to fans who had been eagerly looking forward to the performance.

The equipment used for [Taeyeon’s] Asia tour is currently being transported to Japan, but it has not yet arrived in Japan, making it extremely difficult to sufficiently prepare for the concert. We’ve held discussions with the parties involved and explored every single possibility, but we ultimately determined that it would be difficult to hold the concert,” the statement read.

“We apologize deeply for inconveniencing those who have waited for the concert,” it continued. “We are also discussing the possibility of rescheduling the concert. Further details and information on how this [cancellation] will be handled will be announced as they are decided.”

Will the Tokyo Concerts Get Moved to a Later Date?

Taeyeon, known for her powerful vocals and emotional stage presence, was expected to perform songs from her celebrated discography, including hits from her recent album ‘To. X’ as well as fan favorites from throughout her decade-long solo career.

The Tokyo concerts were set to be a highlight of “The TENSE” tour, which has already drawn attention for its intimate yet grand atmosphere and stunning live performances. Fans across Japan and beyond had secured tickets and made plans to attend the special two-night event.

SM Entertainment added that details regarding ticket refunds would be shared shortly, and asked for fans’ understanding and patience as they work through the process. Despite the cancellation, fans remain hopeful that Taeyeon will reschedule her Tokyo performances in the future and return to the stage stronger than ever.
