Ex-LABOUM’s Yulhee Updates Fans About Her Life Post-Divorce

A month after publicizing her divorce, Yulhee is back to share a life update!

On her personal Instagram account, former LABOUM member Kim Yulhee shared a photo alongside a personal caption about her life post-divorce. “These days, I’m spending my time doing the things I’ve wanted to do. I’m going to try to slowly fill my Instagram with the things I like,” the singer wrote positively.

 

The update came after Yulhee announced in December 2023 that she and husband, FT Island’s Minhwan, have decided to go separate ways after five years of marriage. To recall, the two stars, who were wedded in 2018, have three children together.

At the time, both artists shared their lengthy and heartfelt posts on their respective social media accounts.

As for her part, Yulhee explained that they decided to support each other on their separate paths after trying and communicating for a long time. “Although our journey as a married couple ends here, as parents to our children, it does not,” the singer said. Moreover, Yulhee promised that they’re both committed to doing their best to take care of their children. 

On the other hand, Minhwan began by expressing his gratitude to their supporters. In his statement, he also apologized for making the difficult decision of separating. However, he reassured their fans and relatives that he will continue to fulfill his responsibilities as a father. I will do my best to prevent our children from experiencing emotional distress,” Minhwan said. 

More about Yulhee and Minhwan

Prior to being a celebrity couple, both Yulhee and Minhwan were active as idols.

In particular, Yulhee debuted as a member of the girl group LABOUM in 2014. After which, she also started her acting debut in 2016. Since then, she has appeared in a number of dramas.

Meanwhile, Minhwan is a well-known singer and actor under FNC Entertainment. It was in 2007 when he made his debut as a member of the rock band FT Island

In 2017, the relationship between the two singers became public after both admitted that they were dating. Following the revelation, Yulhee left LABOUM in the same year. 

Moreover, the two welcomed their first-born son in May 2018 and subsequently registered their marriage in October that year. In 2020, the couple was blessed with the birth of twin daughters.

Throughout their marriage, both Yulhee and Minhwan remained in the spotlight. Sharing their journey as a family, the couple appeared on numerous variety shows together with their three children.

Following the news of their divorce, the two shared that they have come up with a mutual decision to let the children stay in Minhwan’s custody.

FT Island’s Minhwan and Yulhee Announce Divorce After 5 Years of Marriage

South Korean celebrities Choi Minhwan and Kim Yulhee, have decided to end their five-year marriage. 

On late Monday, December 4, both parties announced the news in their respective Instagram posts. 

After much time, effort, and discussion, we have decided to support each other on separate paths. Although our journey as a couple has come to an end, our roles as parents to our children persist,” Yulhee, a former member of K-pop girl group LABOUM, wrote, according to a translation by Soompi

Minhwan and Yulhee are parents to three children. They welcomed their first child in May 2018, followed by the birth of their twin daughters in February 2020. 

In her post, Yulhee explained that they’ll remain to prioritize their children, promising that they’ll take care of them “to the best of [their] abilities.” Moreover, she also revealed that the children would continue to reside with their father to avoid any psychological distress. Despite this current living situation, Yulhee also emphasized that she spent ample time with the children to ensure that the impact of her absence would be minimal. 

While she was initially worried about sharing the news, Yulhee sought understanding from their fans as it was a difficult decision for all parties involved. But she assured that it was a choice they made “for each other’s happiness” and after “extensive deliberation.” 

The relationship of Minhwan and Yulhee

Following Yulhee’s post, Minhwan also confirmed the news in his own Instagram. “After extensive discussions, my wife and I have come to the decision to conclude our marriage,” he wrote. 

Furthermore, the FT ISLAND member expressed his gratitude and apologies to their families, team members, and fans who had supported them. Amidst the difficult situation, he pledged to not neglect his duties as a father. “I will do my utmost to fulfill my role and ensure our children do not carry any emotional scars,” he said. 

To recall, Minhwan and Yulhee first confirmed their relationship in September 2017. Two months after announcing that they’re a couple, Yulhee left the group LABOUM. According to her agency, Yulhee “no longer wishes to be in the entertainment industry.” 

In May 2018, their agencies confirmed they’ve legally registered their marriage, just days after the FT ISLAND member announced that his partner is pregnant. Their private wedding ceremony was held in October 2018. 

Throughout their marriage, Minhwan also appeared on the variety show Mr. House Husband wherein he showcased his parenting journey with his three children.
