On July 26 at midnight KST, Moonbyul officially announced her plans to return next month with a new release. She will be unveiling “Starlit of Twinkle,” a repackaged version of her first full-length album “Starlit of Muse,” on August 21.

“Starlit of Twinkle” also comes approximately six months after the release of “Starlit of Muse” in February. If “Starlit of Muse” was a work that Moonbyul (the Muse) completed, “Starlit of Twinkle” also signifies how each of Moonbyul’s works come together to shine brightly. This repackage also promises to enhance the artistic narrative she has been crafting, reflecting her evolution as an artist.

Moonbyul’s First Full Album

“Starlit of Muse” was a significant milestone in Moonbyul’s career, achieving over 100,000 copies sold in its first week. The album also topped the iTunes “Top Albums” charts in 10 regions globally, solidifying her presence on the international music scene. While many celebrities often rent bridal gowns for high-profile events and red carpet appearances, these gowns are typically custom-designed for such occasions due to their extravagant nature. Police Clears MAMAMOO’s Hwasa Over Alleged Obscene Performance

Seoul police have decided not to pursue charges against Hwasa from K-pop girl group MAMAMOO regarding her supposed obscene performance.

The Seongdong Police Station confirmed the news on Wednesday, October 4. According to a Soompi report, the police announced that they would not be referring Hwasa’s case to the prosecution. 

“After summoning Hwasa as a defendant, investigating the content and development process of the performance [of that day], and comprehensively reviewing the statements of those involved, [we found it] difficult to acknowledge the criminal charges,” the police was quoted as saying. 

With this, no charges would be filed against Hwasa. The development came almost five months since her controversial performance.

Fast facts on case against Hwasa

On May 12, Hwasa performed at the Sungkyunkwan University Festival. It was part of the filming for tvN’s variety show Dancing Queens on the Road. 

However, a dance move for her performance in the song “Don’t” was deemed disturbing and inappropriate by several viewers. Which resulted in the university’s Student Parents and Human Rights Protection Solidarity filing a complaint against the singer at the Seongdong Police Station on July 10. 

According to reports, the complainant claimed that Hwasa’s performance was “enough to evoke a sense of shame and disgust among the audience.” 

In September, the Seoul Seongdong Police Station revealed that they had summoned Hwasa to question her about the controversial performance. Her agency, P NATION, confirmed the report. Moreover, the label emphasized that their artist fully cooperated with the police during the investigation. 

Based also in earlier reports, if the singer was found guilty, she would’ve faced a maximum sentence of one year in jail or a fine of 5 million Korean won. 

Moving forward with her career

Following the news about the police dropping Hwasa’s case, P NATION released a brief statement that they’re currently checking the information. As of writing, Hwasa has yet to personally address the development in her case. 

However, it can be recalled that the singer previously spoke about how the controversy has been affecting her. “I don’t usually react much to malicious comments but it’s too harsh this time round,” she said then. 

Such experience, she explained, gave her the inspiration for her latest single “I LOVE MY BODY.”

Although she is her group’s maknae, the idol admitted that she is getting older and is concerned that she didn’t get to do what she wanted to during her twenties.

“I’m 29 this year, and as I rang in New Year’s, I found myself filled with regret. I felt like I didn’t have much fun in my twenties. So, I embraced alcohol for about a month,” Hwasa said.

It’s an interesting way to celebrate or make the most of her final year before entering the big thirties. Nevertheless, these unusual preparations were not a huge surprise for her fans who are aware of Hwasa’s easygoing ways. With that in mind, the MAMAMOO member is clearly getting ready to face a major milestone in her life.

Although it sounded like the idol had a lot of fun to fully enjoy her final year in her twenties, Hwasa confirmed that it had some consequences. “Because of my constant drinking for a whole month, my face got swollen, terribly swollen,” she said.

Interestingly, Hwasa had gone through a lot before the end of her twenties. She had decided not to renew her contract with RBW Entertainment but will still promote as part of MAMAMOO. Hwasa then signed with P Nation and released the solo track “I Love My Body” which celebrates body positivity.

Mamamoo’s Hwasa Questioned by Police for Alleged Indecent Performance

Hwasa of K-pop girl group MAMAOO was confirmed to have been questioned by the Seoul police after the idol was accused of staging an indecent performance. 

On May 12, the singer performed at the Sungkyunkwan University Festival as part of the filming for tvN’s variety show Dancing Queens on the Road. 

However, a dance move for her performance in the song “Don’t” sparked online debate. Some praised the idol for her fierceness, while others claimed that the number was disturbing and inappropriate. 

Aside from netizens, the university’s Student Parents and Human Rights Protection Solidarity also reportedly took offense in Hwasa’s performance. According to reports, a complaint was lodged against her at the Seongdong Police Station on July 10. 

“It was enough to evoke a sense of shame and disgust among the audience,” the group was quoted as saying. 

 

At the time, P NATION, Hwasa’s agency, issued a statement to say that the police were reviewing the case. 

Developments on Hwasa’s controversy 

On Sunday, September 10, the Seoul Seongdong Police Station confirmed that they have summoned Hwasa to question her about the controversial performance. The development came almost four months after the festival took place. 

According to Korea Times, the police will reportedly decide whether to send Hwasa’s case to the prosecution. If the singer is found guilty, she could face a maximum sentence of one year in jail or a fine of 5 million Korean won. 

Additionally, P NATION emphasized that their talent fully cooperated with the police during the investigation. 

Moreover, Hwasa also recently spoke about the controversy during her guest appearance in Sung Si-kyung’s YouTube series.

It was in June when Hwasa left RBW, the agency who formed K-pop girl group MAMAMOO. In July, she signed with P NATION, the agency established by PSY.
