Look: Jeon Somi, LE SSERAFIM’s Yunjin, aespa’s Winter and Giselle Show Off Adorable Friendship

K-pop fans were sent into a frenzy when idols Jeon Somi, Huh Yunjin of LE SSERAFIM, and aespa members Winter and Giselle showcased their close bond, treating fans to a delightful glimpse into their off-stage camaraderie.

In a series of TikTok videos, the quartet, donned in comfy sweatpants and hoodies, decided to share their joy with fans by creating some entertaining TikTok content together. Moreover, it appeared like Yunjin, Winter, and Giselle paid Jeon Somi a visit in her house. 

Notably, the TikTok series featured the four idols engaging in various enjoyable activities, from dancing under a simulated “disco light” to sharing tight embraces that radiated warmth and genuine affection.

To the delight of fans, the group also took on TikTok challenges related to each artist’s respective songs:  LE SSERAFIM‘s “Perfect Night,” Somi’s “Fast Forward,” and aespa’s “Drama.” 

For the “Perfect Night” challenge, Yunjin, Giselle, Winter, and Somi gathered around, sat down, and danced along. Not only did they showcase their dance prowess but also their seamless synchronization as a group.

As for Somi’s “Fast Forward” challenge, the friends added a touch of fun with lighting effects and karaoke microphones. Instead of the usual simple dance challenge, the quartet turned it into a vibrant celebration of friendship.

Then for aespa‘s “Drama,” Yunjin and Giselle took the lead, while Somi and Winter made occasional appearances.  Notably, it added an element of surprise and playfulness to the performance.

Following the series of TikToks, fans of each artist were  left overjoyed, noting that it’s not often that they get to see a genuine bond among K-pop stars. Unsurprisingly, it also left fans eager for more glimpses into their bond. Some were also curious as to how they became close. 

Many fans also couldn’t help but express their admiration for the four idols, emphasizing how cute and endearing their friendship appeared. Meanwhile, others also hoped that this won’t be the last time they witness these talented artists coming together to share their joy and friendship with the world.

The former I.O.I member, whose track “Fast Forward” has achieved chart-topping success on MelOn, provided a witty response to a fan’s inquiry about her relationship status. When asked if she was dating, Somi simply answered, “If I was, I wouldn’t be eating undercooked pasta by myself, yo.”

In the past, Somi has not shied away from discussing her personal life on various shows. A few months ago, during an appearance on the variety show “Witch Hunt,” she candidly shared that she remained in contact with an ex-boyfriend even after their breakup, an admission that surprised many.

Furthermore, on her YouTube talk show “Yes or Hot” she confided in fellow artist HyunA about being approached by a “foreign entertainer.” This revelation piqued fans’ curiosity, leading to speculation about the identity of this mystery person.

Furthermore, Somi credited her Pilates instructor for imparting the knowledge necessary to achieve what’s commonly referred to as “11-line abs.” She explained that this is influenced by a person’s early life experiences, such as excessive crying as a baby. Somi stated that it strengthens their abdominal muscles through deep breathing exercises.

It’s no secret that Jeon So Mi is one idol who has an impressive body. The former I.O.I member is known for her tall and fit physique which most people envy. Not surprisingly, Somi recently revealed that her enviable form is a product of her own hard work. The “Dumb Dumb” singer shared the secret behind her admirable “11-line abs” that Korean netizens have envied for a long time.

Jeon Somi Reveals Intense Workout Routine

On the August 19 episode of JTBC’s “Knowing Bros,” guests Jeon So Mi, Kwon Eun Bi, and STAYC delved into a range of subjects. They particularly emphasized fitness and its role in their lives, sharing insights on staying healthy. Their diverse perspectives made for an informative and captivating episode. They discussed their individual workout routines and provided valuable tips for maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

Not surprisingly, Somi admitted that she works hard on her own physique. “I’m pretty strong. About three to four times a week, I alternate between Pilates and personal training, and I’ve been doing that for about six years,” she shared. Jeon Somi added that she learned how to develop “11-line abs” with the help of her Pilates instructor. For instance, she found out that 11-line abs tend to develop if the person cried a lot when they were a baby as they gained strength in abdominal breathing. Super Junior’s Shindong, one of the show’s MCs, commented that he must have been a well-behaved baby.

Somi also proved the power of her 11-line abs during the episode. Kim Heechul suggested Jeon So Mi, STAYC’s Isa, and Kwon Eun Bi go head-to-head in a planking competition. Isa dropped out after holding a plank position for two minutes while Somi gave up roughly 20 seconds later. This proved Kwon Eun Bi to be the official winner.

Somi catapulted to national fame after clinching the top spot on the survival reality show “Produce 101”, subsequently becoming a member of the eleven-piece project girl group I.O.I. After I.O.I disbanded, she signed a deal with YG Entertainment’s subsidiary, The Black Label. She embarked on her solo artist journey, marking her debut on June 13, 2019. Somi is currently promoting her new EP “Game Plan.”

Theblacklabel Apologizes for Plagiarism Issue on Jeon Somi’s ‘Fast Forward’ MV

THEBLACKLABEL will edit some scenes involving an animated character in Jeon Somi’s “Fast Forward” music video after viewers accused it of plagiarism. 

“Fast Forward,” which is the title track of Somi’s new EP Game Plan, was released on Monday, August 7. 

 

Following its release, several viewers pointed out that the animated character in Somi’s music video resembles an artwork of the famous Japanese cartoonist Rumiko Takahashi. 

In the ”Fast Forward” music video, the manga-styled character appeared to be a representation of the idol. 

However, fans were quick to raise the similarities between Somi’s animated character and the artwork on Takahashi’s manga series Urusei Yatsura. 

 

Viewers alleged that the two had the same style and color scheme. According to online users, only the direction the character is facing and the hairstyle are the differences.

Hence, viewers accused the company of ripping off the known character. It also sparked debate on whether the agency has permission to use the design commercially. 

THEBLACKLABEL reacts

Soon afterwards the allegations went viral, THEBLACKLABEL issued an apology on Wednesday, August 9. 

The agency said that they have decided to “delete and modify the scene” after they  “discovered that the animated character in the video had similar appearances to a different character’s artwork.” 

 

Additionally, THEBLACKLABEL shared that they will replace said scenes as soon as possible. “We sincerely apologize for being unable to take a closer look and for causing concern,” they said. 

The label also assured fans that they will be “more careful in the future” to prevent instances like this from happening again. 

Game Plan is Jeon Somi’s first comeback in two years, following her studio album XOXO in October 2021. 

Jeon Somi entered the K-pop industry through the 2015 survival program Sixteen. She also participated in the first season of Produce 101 in 2016, wherein she became a member of the project girl group IOI. 

After IOI disbanded, Jeon Somi chose to venture in her solo career.

Jeon Somi Confirms First Comeback in 2 Years

Jeon Somi is finally gearing up for her next comeback. The former I.O.I member has confirmed that she is currently preparing for her first album in almost two years.

Jeon Somi’s Agency THE BLACK LABEL Confirms Upcoming Comeback

THE BLACK LABEL confirmed the news in a brief statement.

“Jeon Somi is preparing to make a comeback,” the statement read.

The agency did not reveal more details about the comeback. For instance, the comeback date has not been shared. Likewise, it is still unclear whether Jeon Somi is releasing an EP or a full album. Nevertheless, Somi herself had already teased that she is working on new music.

Earlier in May, Somi expressed her excitement about her upcoming projects.

“I wish I could fast forward life or something and let you guys see and hear what I’ve been working on,” she wrote.

It’s an awesome tease for what would be Jeon Somi’s first comeback in almost two years. She had previously released her first full album ‘XOXO’ in October 2021. Needless to say, it’s a comeback that SOM-MUNGCHIs have been expecting since Somi got a surge in popularity last month.

‘XO, Kitty’ Features Three Jeon Somi Songs From ‘XOXO’

On May 18, the “All The Boys I Loved Before” spin-off series “XO, Kitty” premiered on Netflix. The show, which is set in Seoul, featured several K-pop songs including “BAAM” by MOMOLAND, “Icy” by ITZY, “Stay This Way” by fromis_9, and “MANIAC” by Stray Kids.

The creators of “XO, Kitty” also appeared to be huge fans of Jeon Somi. Three of her songs from the album ‘XOXO’ were featured in numerous episodes. The first episode included “What You Waiting For” while “XOXO” appeared in Episode 2. “Dumb Dumb” was featured in the third episode.
