On February 6, the network revealed, “The new season of the ‘Taxi Driver’ series, which has received immense love from viewers, is officially scheduled to air on SBS in the second half of the year.” This announcement has only deepened anticipation for another gripping installment that fans have eagerly awaited.

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “Taxi Driver” follows the secretive operations of a unique taxi service that delivers justice on behalf of those who have been let down by the legal system. The series’ intriguing premise and well-crafted narrative have captured the hearts of viewers, making it a standout in the realm of television dramas.

The upcoming season promises to reunite the entire Rainbow Taxi team, reinforcing the strong bond that has defined their journey. Veteran actor Lee Je Hoon returns as Kim Do Gi, the skilled and dedicated driver who lies at the heart of the operation. Joining him, Kim Eui Sung reprises his role as Jang Sung Cheol, the steadfast leader of the team. Also making a comeback is Pyo Ye Jin as the brilliant hacker Ahn Go Eun, while Jang Hyuk Jin and Bae Yoo Ram are back in their roles as the resourceful engineering duo, Choi Kyung Goo and Park Jin Uhn.

Before the conclusion of the previous season, Lee Je Hoon expressed his excitement, stating, “I would love to create another story with this family.” With renewed camaraderie and an even more immersive storyline on the horizon, expectations are sky-high.

On October 17, it was reported that actor Lee Je Hoon recently underwent emergency surgery at a hospital in Seoul, followed by a two-week inpatient treatment to address his condition of ischemic colitis.

According to Lee’s management agency, he was rushed to the hospital late at night on October 1 due to severe abdominal pain. Medical examinations revealed an issue with his colon, and he was diagnosed with ischemic colitis, a condition characterized by a sudden reduction in blood flow to the large intestine. The severity of this condition can vary among individuals, but the associated complications can pose significant risks to the patient’s health.

As a result of this unexpected health crisis, Lee Je Hoon had to withdraw from his role as the host of the opening ceremony of the 28th Busan International Film Festival, which took place on October 4, 2023. He also had to temporarily halt filming for his upcoming MBC drama “Chief Inspector: The Beginning” which is scheduled to air next year.

The emergency surgery that took place on October 1 reportedly extended into the early hours of the morning but was ultimately successful in addressing his condition. After receiving subsequent rounds of treatment, Lee Je Hoon’s health is said to be recovering rapidly. The actor was discharged from the hospital last week and is currently focusing on his recuperation at home. His agency, COMPANY ON, emphasized that Lee Je Hoon’s health remains their top priority, and once he is fully healed, he will resume work on his projects.

‘Taxi Driver’ Star Lee Je Hoon Unable to Host Busan International Film Festival Due to Emergency Surgery

Lee Je Hoon can no longer attend the 28th Busan International Film Festival’s opening ceremony. The “Taxi Driver” star was recently rushed to the hospital for an emergency surgery and is recovering. In addition to that, Lee’s agency confirmed that his other upcoming attendances will be cancelled.

Lee Je Hoon Hospitalized Due to Severe Stomach Pain

A spokesperson from Lee Je Hoon’s talent agency COMPANY ON disclosed that he had been rushed to the hospital on the evening of October 1 due to severe stomach pain. After medical evaluation, Lee Je Hoon was diagnosed with ischemic colitis, a condition characterized by temporarily reduced blood flow to a section of the large intestine. Subsequently, he underwent emergency surgery, which extended into the early hours of the morning. At present, he is in the process of recuperating in the hospital.

“Lee Je Hoon went to the hospital on the night of [October] 1 due to severe abdominal pain, and he was diagnosed with ischemic colitis. He received emergency surgery early on [October] 2,” the company’s statement read.

It continued, “Thankfully the surgery was successful, and he is currently recovering at the hospital. We will have to watch the progress of his recovery, but he will probably have to be hospitalized for about a week.”

Unfortunately, this unforeseen medical situation necessitates his withdrawal from hosting duties at the 28th Busan International Film Festival‘s opening ceremony. Lee Je Hoon was scheduled to co-host the opening ceremony with Park Eun Bin on October 4. In his absence, Park Eun Bin will carry out the hosting responsibilities as the sole MC.

Furthermore, Lee Je Hoon’s health setback will also prevent him from attending the 2023 Buil Film Awards, scheduled for October 5. His dedicated fans are undoubtedly sending their best wishes for his swift and complete recovery during this challenging period.

“We feel very apologetic to the Busan International Film Festival and the Buil Film Awards,” his agency said in a statement.
