Boy group The KingDom (formerly known as KINGDOM) has officially announced the departure of member Hwon, marking a significant change in the group’s lineup. The news follows Hwon’s indefinite hiatus in October 2024, which was attributed to health concerns.

Hwon’s time with The KingDom was marred by controversies that surfaced shortly before his hiatus. Allegations included claims that he had worked in a host bar, ghosted an ex-girlfriend after spending the night together, and publicly dated an unidentified woman. Fans and netizens shared alleged evidence, such as photos of Hwon at restaurants with the woman in question. These rumors led to heated debates within the fandom.

In response to these accusations, GF Entertainment has issued an official statement. The label firmly denied the allegations and expressed its intent to pursue legal action against the spread of malicious rumors and defamatory statements about Hwon.

Soon, the agency announced Hwon’s hiatus, citing his need to prioritize his health. However, on January 18, 2025, the agency released a statement confirming his official departure from the group.

“The KingDom member Hwon has ended his participation in the group due to personal reasons,” the statement read. “We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this sudden news. Please give your warm support to Hwon and The KingDom.”

Hwon’s exit marks the second member loss for The KingDom, as former member Chiwoo left the group in 2022. Hwon joined shortly afterward, filling the void left by Chiwoo’s departure.

Despite these challenges, The KingDom remains committed to their fans and will continue promoting as a six-member group. Fans are hopeful for a bright future for both The KingDom and Hwon.
