Mark your calendars, K-pop fans! After several days, YG Entertainment has officially announced the debut date for their much-anticipated girl group, BABYMONSTER.

On Friday, November 10, YG Entertainment released a teaser to confirm that the seven-member girl group will debut on November 27. As of writing, other details about BABYMONSTER’s upcoming debut have yet to be disclosed.

Initially, YG Entertainment announced in July that the group was supposed to make a September debut. At the time, the agency shared that the members were already working on the song’s choreography and preparing for the filming of the music video.

However, the label didn’t release any update about it, prompting fans to be worried about the delays.

Then, YG Entertainment shared that they decided to push back the launch by two months for “quality enhancement.” Moreover, the group’s debut song will reportedly fall under the strong hip–hop genre, which is why they’re reportedly putting more effort into the song.

Will BABYMONSTER mark a new era for YG Entertainment?

BABYMONSTER‘s debut marks a significant moment for YG Entertainment. Especially since the label witnessed the departure of several artists between 2022 and 2023.

Among these artists are BIGBANG members Daesung, Taeyang, G-Dragon, group iKON, and Kang Do-won. Currently, the agency’s roster includes AKMU, Sechskies, WINNER, BLACKPINK, and TREASURE. Moreover, the label remains to be in negotiation with the contract renewal of BLACKPINK members.

With the recent changes, fans and K-pop enthusiasts alike are tuning in as to how the debut of BABYMONSTER will affect the agency.

Ahead of the group’s official debut, BABYMONSTER has already built a substantial social media following, boasting 3.4 million Instagram followers and 3.1 million YouTube subscribers.

In March, YG Entertainment launched the reality show Last Evaluation to document the formation of the new girl group. Initially intended to consist of only  five members, the overwhelming demand from viewers led the agency to include all seven members in the final lineup.

The group is composed of Ahyeon, Haram, and Rora from Korea, Pharita and Chiquita from Thailand, and Ruka and Asa from Japan.

In May, they released their pre-debut song, “DREAM,” generating excitement among fans. Notably, BABYMONSTER will serve as YG Entertainment’s first girl group since BLACKPINK made their debut in 2016.
