An entertaining and relevant rap
Gunwook, visibly flustered while dancing with Seo Janghoon, looked significantly more relaxed as he performed a freestyle rap about Knowing Bros. It was evident that Gunwook had put considerable effort into crafting his rap, ensuring it was entertaining and relevant to the show.
Netizen @dearpgw made a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) about how much they enjoyed Gunwook’s rap. They believed it showcased the rookie idol’s great talent, incredible efforts, and his sense to seize the opportunity and make himself shine.
Gunwook’s rap included references to various members of the show, such as Heechul, Kang Hodong, Kim Youngchul, Lee Jinho, Lee Sangmin, Lee Soogeun, Min Kyunghoon, and Seo Janghoon. Gunwook takes his craft seriously
For instance, Gunwook acknowledged Kang Hodong‘s time as a top Korean traditional wrestler. He likened the comedian to kaisendong, a donburi dish made of a variety of seafood, as a way to show that Hodong is a man of many talents. He also mentioned Seo Janghoon‘s admirable basketball career and association with Yonsei University, showing deep respect for his achievements.
Additionally, Gunwook chose the instrumental of “Nas Is Like” by Nas for his rap, reflecting his admiration for the hip-hop legend. Nas, known for his album Illmatic, is regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time. During his time on the survival show Wild Idol, Gunwook referred to Nas as his “textbook.” This highlighted Gunwook’s sincerity and dedication to rap, as well as his extensive study of hip-hop history, from old school to new.
Park Gunwook‘s appearance on Knowing Bros was delightful. Aside from showcasing his charms, it also allowed him to prove how seriously he takes his craft. His ability to merge talent and wit sets him apart in the K-pop world. – K-Pop News Writer
