BTS Fans React to BIGHIT Music’s ‘No Settlement’ Policy Against Stalkers

BIGHIT Music is taking extra steps to protect its artists. The agency has issued a notice informing the public about legal actions they are taking to protect BTS. It’s a strict new policy that would probably shock anyone. However, BTS fans are praising BIGHIT for doing what is necessary to keep their idols safe.

BIGHIT Music Takes Legal Action To Protect BTS

On September 27, BIGHIT MUSIC issued an official statement, making it abundantly clear that they are taking robust legal measures against individuals who have committed various malicious online activities directed at BTS. These actions range from defamation and sexual harassment to disseminating false information and posting hate comments. The label has made it unequivocal that they will not tolerate any violations of the group’s artistic and personal rights.

The notice further mentioned a specific individual who had been persistently engaging in posting violent and highly abusive comments across multiple platforms. In response, BIGHIT MUSIC has compiled substantial evidence and initiated a criminal complaint against this person. This bold stance by the label underscores their unwavering commitment to protecting their artists and pursuing justice in the face of online harassment.

BIGHIT Music Extends Its Protection to BTS Members’ Family

In addition to online harassment, the label has been resolute in addressing physical stalking as well. The notice revealed that some individuals have repeatedly sent mail and packages to the artists’ residences, even causing harm to their families. In response, BIGHIT MUSIC has taken legal action, filing criminal complaints based on the Act on Punishment of Crime of Stalking. Notably, they have successfully secured an interim restraining order as the prosecution continues its investigation into these charges.

BTS fans, known as ARMYs, have expressed their appreciation for BIGHIT MUSIC’s unwavering efforts to safeguard the group from online harassment and stalking. They also recognize that stalking is not always viewed as a severe crime under South Korean law and believe that these stern actions will serve as a deterrent to potential offenders, thereby contributing to the safety and well-being of the artists they admire.

Although the new policy is certainly strict, BTS fans are happy to know that their idols will no longer have to deal with harassment and abuse. With that in mind, BIGHIT Music is doing the right thing to protect its artists.

Jungkook of BTS Drops Teaser for ‘3D (feat. Jack Harlow)’

Jungkook, a member of the globally renowned group BTS, unveiled the official teaser for his new solo single on Wednesday. His foray into the solo music scene began not long ago with the release of the English track “Seven.” This song garnered immense popularity and clinched the coveted VMA award for Song of the Summer. Now, with “3D,” Jungkook is set to embark on a new musical journey.

정국 (Jung Kook) ‘3D (feat. Jack Harlow)’ Official Teaser

When Jungkook met Jack

Releasing just two days before its official launch date on September 29, the teaser for “3D” provided fans with a sneak peek at the song. The video portrays Jungkook in various looks, from an all-white suit to boots, pants, and a sleeveless shirt, all in black. He also wields a hammer in one scene. The upbeat tempo hinted in the teaser suggests that “3D” will be a real chartbuster.

In an exciting twist, Jungkook collaborated with the talented Jack Harlow on his second solo venture. This partnership promises a unique blend of musical styles, offering listeners a fresh and enthralling experience. In the teaser, the duo is playing chess on a sidewalk. While they didn’t share much screen time in the teaser, both artists gave fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the music video shoot on social media. A photo of Jungkook wearing a diamond-studded Kentucky chain, shared by both, quickly became a talking point among fans and even caught the attention of KFC.

The significance of the necklace goes beyond its dazzling appearance. Commissioned by Harlow and crafted by New York jeweler Alex Moss, the piece has 61 carats of VVS diamonds and 560 grams of 14k white gold. The necklace pays tribute to the late GRAMMY award-winner Static Major, a Louisville native like Harlow, known for his iconic Kentucky chain. Fans appreciated the gesture, viewing Jungkook wearing the chain as a sign of respect from Harlow, symbolizing his hometown pride.

More on ‘3D’

In related buzz, there’s speculation about social media influencer Addison Rae‘s involvement in the “3D” project. Rae‘s suggestive Instagram stories—ranging from her love for New York City to her endorsement of Jungkook‘s favorite snack—intrigued fans. The fact that she posted them while Jungkook was in town for the Global Citizen Festival further fueled speculations. Some believe she might sing on the track or star in its music video.

Another highlight is the directorial talent behind “3D.” Drew Kirsch, known for his work with Taylor Swift and previous collaboration with Jungkook, is at the helm of this project. With a track record of producing visually stunning videos that garner millions of views, Kirsch’s involvement further elevates the anticipation for “3D.”

BTS’ RM Donates 100 Million KRW to Korean Forensic Service

BTS‘ leader, RM, has generously donated 100 million won to the Korean Forensic Medicine Society, intending to advance forensic medicine nationwide. The current scenario in South Korea reveals a concerning shortage of forensic scientists, with only about 60 active professionals in the field. Moreover, only two to three medical doctors a year take up forensic medicine as a specialty.

RM decided to donate after working with forensic scientist Professor Lee Ho on The Dictionary of Useless Knowledge. It was a tvN show he hosted alongside Jang Hang-jun, featuring panelists Kim Young-ha, Kim Sang-wook, and Dr. Shim Chae-kyung. It began airing on December 2, 2022 and ended on January 27, 2023. The January 6 episode highlighted the challenges forensic scientists in South Korea face. On that day, RM noted that in 2023, no one applied to enter the field.

RM is ‘a cool and deep person’

Dr. Shim Chae-kyung, a planetary scientist and astronomer at the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, expressed her admiration for RM’s charitable act. Taking to Instagram on the 27th, she labeled the news of RM‘s donation as “wonderful news.”

Looking back on the day Professor Lee Ho appeared on the show, Dr. Shim shared, “During breaks in the filming of ‘Useless Knowledge,’ Namjoon continued his conversation with Professor Lee Ho. And he made a promise right there. You could tell from his attitude, expression, and eyes that it wasn’t just empty words. He remembered the promise he made and followed through to the end.”

She added, “I thought astronomers were few, but the number of forensic scientists is even fewer. I send cheers and encouragement to those who walk the path of forensic medicine and applause and respect to Namjoon, who does what he can with a kind heart. He feels like a much younger brother. But at the same time, he’s like a life senior with a high level of maturity, a cool and deep person.”

About the Korean Forensic Medicine Society

The Korean Forensic Medicine Society was established in 1976. It has been pivotal in promoting human rights, judicial justice, and social safety through its forensic research, evaluations, and training. Despite the society’s efforts, the number of active forensic scientists remains alarmingly low.

RM said, “Becoming a forensic scientist is very challenging. I genuinely respect those who walk the path of a forensic scientist. I hope to contribute, even if just a little, to their training and support and the Forensic Medicine Society’s growth.”

The funds donated by RM will be used for the Korean Forensic Medicine Society’s talent cultivation projects, academic research, and enhancements in forensic medicine systems. In recognition of RM‘s generous contribution, the Korean Forensic Medicine Society plans to present him with a certificate of appreciation and grant him honorary membership. – K-Pop News Writer

What Do BTS’ RM and ZEROBASEONE’s Seok Matthew Have in Common?

At first glance, it may seem like BTSRM and ZEROBASEONE’s Seok Matthew share little in common. RM is an established superstar, while Matthew, despite his group selling over a million albums in one week with their debut, is still a rookie. However, a closer look reveals a shared love for the animated classic, Howl’s Moving Castle.

Howl’s Moving Castle, a 2004 Japanese animated fantasy film directed by Hayao Miyazaki, has always held a special place in the hearts of Studio Ghibli fans. The film, loosely based on Diana Wynne Jones’s 1986 novel, revolves around Sophie, a young milliner cursed into elderly form, who encounters a wizard named Howl and becomes entangled in his resistance against fighting for the king. The film earned an Academy Award nomination and continues to be celebrated across generations for its stunning visuals and thematic exploration.

RM, renowned for his multifaceted talents, treated fans to piano renditions of the theme from Howl’s Moving Castle. Witnessing him perform the song “Merry Go Round of Life” was a treat for fans of Studio Ghibli, BTS, or both. He initially played the theme in its original format, showcasing his exceptional skills, and later treated fans to a speed-up version, playfully captioning it with “It’s the TikTok era, so speed up.”

What ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’ means to Matthew

Meanwhile, Matthew has openly expressed how the song from Howl’s Moving Castle has impacted him. “Every time I listen to it, I feel strangely at ease. I close my eyes and listen carefully as I imagine. At times the sea, other times the sky, and at times green mountains. When I found things hard, I calmed down my mind a lot like that. It’s music that was like a friend who protects me,” the ZEROBASEONE member shared in a previous interview.

South Korea Debates BTS’ Military Service as E-Sports Stars Get Exemption

South Korea’s recent announcement that e-sports athletes can earn a military exemption by winning gold at the Asian Games rekindled an old controversy involving K-pop titan BTS. In South Korea, any male who wins gold at the Asian Games is exempted from the usual 18-month mandatory military service. With e-sports now being included as a medal event, top-tier players—like team captain Lee Sang-hyeok (also known as “Faker”)—have a lot at stake.

Traditionally, these exemptions have been reserved for elite athletes and classical musicians, reflecting their role in promoting national prestige. However, they are also a point of contention. Official statistics show fewer than 100 “arts and sports” exemptions were passed last year.

To provide some context, Son Heung-min, a renowned footballer and Tottenham Hotspur striker, avoided the full military stint after the national football team secured a gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games. But he still had to undergo three weeks of military training. That’s standard even for those given the right to opt out of full service. “It was a good experience,” he told SpursTV. “The three weeks were tough, but I tried to enjoy it.”

Despite their colossal contribution to the country’s economy and K-pop’s global popularity, BTS weren’t considered for an exemption. Jin, SUGA, and j-hope have enlisted. HYBE, the company behind BTS, has begun hinting at the military enlistment plans for the members who have yet to enlist. In a statement shared by HYBE on September 25, a representative commented, “We will announce the enlistment plans for the remaining BTS members in sequential order within this year.”

Military exemption for successful South Korean gamers reignites debate | WION

The perceived injustice towards BTS

In a 2022 Gallup survey, approximately 33% of South Koreans opposed potential military exemptions for K-pop artists despite the intention to ensure uninterrupted progress for groups like BTS. With e-sports’ Asian Games appearance and South Korea’s dominance in this field, discussions around these exemptions are raging. National team coach Kim Jeong-gyun brushed away questions about it. He said “a sense of duty” of representing South Korea will be the players’ only motivation. But experts say military service exemptions are a “very important issue” for the young athletes.

E-sports was a demonstration sport at the 2018 Asian Games. That was the year South Korea’s League of Legends team lost to China in the final. Revenge is on the players’ minds, but they declined to say if avoiding military service is too. “Five years ago, we had to settle for a silver medal, but this time, we have strong players and many people support us,” Faker said. “I will work hard, believing we will win,” he added.

However, reactions, especially from BTS fans, were mixed. While some lamented the perceived injustice towards BTS, others appreciated the e-sports players’ dedication. They also emphasized that e-sports’ recognition as a sport predates BTS’ global fame. Some fans even alleged that if BTS were granted an exemption, they might not even accept it to avoid potential government “exploitation.”

The debate might simmer down after the Asian Games. But the questions it raises will remain pivotal for years to come. – K-Pop News Writer

BTS’ Jungkook Stars in Self-Directed Fashion Film for Vogue Korea

On September 26, 2023, Vogue Korea unveiled a captivating video on X (formerly Twitter), instantly grabbing the attention of many. The post was accompanied by the words, “You are my music! In the world of music, where there are no barriers or boundaries, transcending eras and genres.” It announced the release of a fashion film from the Vogue Korea cover shoot featuring BTSJungkook.

What made this film stand out was Jungkook‘s role as its creative director, showcasing his versatility beyond his musical prowess. The video quickly made waves, amassing 1.4 million views shortly after its debut. Netizens’ response was overwhelming, evident from the 111.2K likes, 51.4K reposts, 1,555 quotes, and 4,213 bookmarks it garnered.

The video’s first half was presented in black and white. Jungkook, with his bangs elegantly slicked back, gracefully danced on a patterned floor, swaying to the rhythm of classic jazz. Dressed in a sharp suit, he exuded sophistication. As he transitioned to playing piano, the video burst into color, guiding viewers through the diverse looks he donned for his Vogue Korea shoot. Further amplifying the anticipation, the publication teased the October issue’s covers on September 16. Each echoed a different Western music era, ranging from the “Jazz Age” to “British Rock in the 60s,” “1970s Punk,” and “Modern Hip-Hop.”

Jeon Jungkook, creative director

In entertainment and fashion, artists constantly challenge norms to make something unforgettable. That’s what Jungkook did on his Vogue Korea shoot. Although he was the subject of the shoot, he also served as its creative director. His role wasn’t limited to posing; he crafted the narrative, influencing everything from the ambiance to the styling. Each shot captured his vision perfectly, and his presence in them somehow made them feel more authentic. They were more than a set of fashion photographs. They were personal expressions that resonated with ARMY because they offered a window into Jungkook’s artistry.

However, juggling these dual responsibilities wasn’t a walk in the park. Leading the team while being the centerpiece demanded acute awareness and adaptability. But Jungkook, with his inherent grace and professionalism, made sure things would go well. Beyond this shoot, Jungkook‘s creativity isn’t a newfound trait. His musical accolades with BTS and as a solo artist are well-known, but his flair for visual arts is equally commendable. In 2020, he left many in awe with his painting skills on the BTS reality show In the Soop. This prowess makes the stunning visuals of his Vogue Korea shoot and the fashion film unsurprising.

In other news, fans have another reason to rejoice. Jungkook is set to release his second solo single, “3D,” on September 29, marking a swift comeback after his last single, “Seven.” The anticipation is palpable as fans eagerly await his next masterpiece. – K-Pop News Writer

BTS’ Jungkook to Release Digital Single, ‘3D (feat. Jack Harlow)’

BTS‘ golden maknae, Jungkook, is set to drop a new digital single, “3D (feat. Jack Harlow),” on September 29, 2023. BigHit Music, in their official press release, described the song as a “Pop/R&B track with clever expressions of feelings toward an unattainable person from the perspectives of first, second, and third dimensions.” The agency added that fans can expect Jungkook to showcase “an even more mature side” of himself in this release. Jack Harlow, known for his unique rap style, has lent his voice to the track, adding a distinct flavor.

This release follows Jungkook‘s summer smash, “Seven (feat. Latto).” It left an indelible mark in pop-culture history and showcased the depth of Jungkook‘s artistry. Given his previous single’s success, fans eagerly await the release of “3D (feat. Jack Harlow).”

정국 (Jung Kook) ‘3D’ Hero Film 01

The buzz around this single began when Jungkook gave a significant hint at the 2023 Global Citizen Music Festival in New York City. During the rehearsals, a video showcased random clips of the singer. The video ended with “JUNGKOOK” and “3D” written in bold fonts. Fans, in their excitement, recorded and shared the video online before the actual performance.

Jungkook officially unveiled it after performing “Seven,” “Still With You,” “Euphoria,” and solo versions of BTS“Dynamite” and “Permission to Dance.” It was later revealed to be the second of two teasers for the song when BigHit Music uploaded both to YouTube.

정국 (Jung Kook) ‘3D’ Hero Film 02

Jungkook talks ‘3D’

After the festival, Jungkook went live on Weverse. He shared, “It’s been a while. I’m coming on for a bit to see you guys. You saw the video released, right? ‘3D’ featuring Jack Harlow. And today, I had the Global Citizen stage… and I tossed out the idea of releasing the video after the performance, and it really happened. Ah, but who took a video of the rehearsal and posted it? You can’t do that; it was supposed to be a surprise.”

Discussing his time away from Weverse, he mentioned, “Of course, I’ve been busy, but there were actually a few times where I had the time to go on live. But… people will lose their curiosity and excitement if I come on too often, so… Of course, this friendly and family-like vibe is nice, but as a singer, I decided not to.”

Reflecting on his performance, Jungkook added, “I’m in New York, but thank you to everyone who came to see me for Global Citizen. And, of course, for those in Korea, thank you for supporting me from afar. How was the stage today? I didn’t get to monitor it properly; I just skimmed through it once. I hope you all liked it. Ah, but the stage itself… my condition is always better during the rehearsals than performances.”

He teased his new single and plans, saying, “Anyways, ‘3D’ is coming out soon, so look forward to it. It’s a completely different style from ‘Seven.’ It’s also almost Chuseok, and there’s a reason things have to happen so fast; it’s for all of you. What could be coming afterward? I’m so curious. Think of it like a Chuseok present! Because it’s Chuseok in Korea. You’re curious, right? Keep being curious. You’ll get good news soon. Thank you again so much for today, and look forward to ‘3D.’ I’ll promote it well, so please support me!” – K-Pop News Writer

BTS’ SUGA Visited Weverse Before Joining the Military

BTS‘s SUGA took a moment to connect with his fans right before his enlistment. “Hi, it’s SUGA. I came by to say hi,” he shared in a Weverse post early Friday morning. Weverse, for the uninitiated, is HYBE’s fan community platform.

Twitter/@miiniyoongs

SUGA addressed ARMY

SUGA’s message was filled with gratitude and love for his fans, known as the ARMY. “I’m here safe and sound, thanks to ARMY,” he wrote. “And the time has come. I will return after diligently serving my mandatory service. Please be mindful of the change of seasons as we transition to a chilly season of fall. Stay healthy, and see you all in 2025. ARMY, I thank you so much, and I love you.”

Despite the significance of the day, no official events were scheduled for Friday, as confirmed by HYBE earlier in the week. SUGA will be serving as a social service agent due to a past shoulder injury. In Korea, all eligible men are mandated to serve approximately one and a half years in the military. Those who receive a lower grade on their physical evaluation have the option to serve as a social service agent at a public institution for 21 months. This role also requires a three-week basic training at a military boot camp.

The commitment of BTS members to their fans and their craft was further highlighted when it was announced on Wednesday that all seven members will renew their exclusive contracts with BigHit Music. This renewal ensures that BTS will stay together in 2025 and beyond, even as members fulfill their military obligations.

https://twitter.com/SugasWhisper1/status/1704879727939358726

BigHit Music speaks

SUGA is not the first from BTS to embark on this journey. He follows in the footsteps of Jin, who began his service in December, and j-hope, who started in April. BigHit Music had previously announced SUGA‘s enlistment, emphasizing that he would be working in an office and officially enlisting on September 22. The company also asked fans to respect SUGA‘s privacy as he serves and to avoid any unauthorized visits.

In a statement, BigHit Music said, “We ask for your continued love and support for SUGA until he completes his service and returns. Our company will also strive to provide all the support he needs during this time. Thank you.”

As SUGA prepares for this new chapter, fans worldwide send their best wishes and eagerly await the 2025 reunion. – K-Pop News Writer
