BTS’ RM Gives Out Life Advice on Weverse Live

Dressed in a gray hoodie and showing off his new hair color, RM engaged with fans’ comments. A particularly touching moment arose when a fan asked how he copes with loneliness. In a moment of raw honesty, RM admitted to feeling lost and lonely at times. He said, “What do I do when I feel lost and lonely? I’ve been feeling that way these days and always try to find my grip, but it’s really hard. The only answer is to enjoy the calm and try to be friends with myself because nobody can save you except you.”

This profound statement struck a chord with many, because it emphasized the significance of self-love and inner resilience during tough times. 

RM displayed genuine concern

Another profound moment took place when another ARMY confessed to feeling like they no longer wanted to live. RM, displaying genuine concern, responded with deep empathy. He shared his own struggles with similar feelings, emphasizing the shared human experience in such situations. He told the fan, “You feel like you don’t want to live anymore? I’ve felt that way too, once. I don’t know what you’re doing, where you’re from, or your age, but believe me, life is truly worth living.”

Adding warmth to this live session was the surprise appearance of another BTS member. Jimin left uplifting comments on RM’s broadcast, reflecting the tight-knit bond the members have. The “Like Crazy” hitmaker wrote, “Even in this frustrating world, we and the ARMY exist. I love you. Hyung, spend a good time with ARMY. I’ll contact you again. I love you.” His words showcased the group’s support for each other.

BTS’ Jimin Funds Scholarships at Busan Arts High School

According to a report by the Busan Daily, BTS Jimin donated 30 million KRW to the Green Umbrella Busan Headquarters in August. This generous contribution will benefit 28 students from disciplines like art, dance, and music. Specifically, the scholarship targets those who shine in their respective fields. The funds aim to alleviate costs associated with costumes and lessons, ensuring these aspiring artists can chase their dreams without financial burdens.

Jimin’s bond with his alma mater is strong. Upon entering the Busan Arts High School, he majored in modern dance and remained an exemplary student throughout his tenure. He took up billiards, book clubs, martial arts (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean), robotics, soccer, and tennis. His many activities prove how talented he is. He managed all his responsibilities with flying colors, excelling in every endeavor. He auditioned for BigHit Entertainment at the suggestion of a teacher, and the rest is history.

Since he made it big as a member of BTS, he has been generously supporting his juniors annually, hoping they too can realize their dreams. To date, he has donated a grand total of 160 million KRW to the Busan Arts High School. These funds have been used across three departments, including the dance department from which he graduated. They were used to improve facilities, pay for equipment, and provide scholarships.

The Jimin effect

Jimin‘s philanthropic endeavors extend beyond the school. He has donated 100 million KRW to initiatives supporting children aging out of the welfare system. He has also sent money to improve the living conditions of children in areas that suffered greatly due to COVID-19. In August, Jimin contributed 5 million KRW to Busan’s Nam-gu district, a gesture inspired by his father, who runs a café there. In 2021, both Jimin and his father joined the Green Noble Club by donating 100 million won to the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation.

Echoing the generosity of the “Like Crazy” singer, his fans have also championed charitable causes. They donated 10 million KRW in scholarships to Busan Arts High School in his name through the Green Umbrella Busan Headquarters. In challenging times, they consistently make donations in his name, magnifying the star’s positive influence and fostering a culture of giving back to the community. That’s the Jimin effect for you.

In South Korea, there exists an unofficial list of songs that are often referred to as “banned” among students due to their irresistibly catchy and addictive nature. This list typically includes tracks like SF9’s “O Sole Mio,” SHINee’s “Ring Ding Dong,” BTS’s “Go Go,” aespa’s “Next Level,” and many others. Now, it seems there is a new addition to this list, and it hails from the popular group SEVENTEEN.

SEVENTEEN’s Latest Hit ‘Banned’ During CSAT Exam Season

SEVENTEEN has consistently released incredibly catchy songs over the years, and their recent track, “God of Music” from the album ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’ is no exception. Despite its release during autumn, it has garnered attention for bringing back a summery vibe.

As expected, the song has quickly climbed the music charts, but it has gone even further by making its way into college campuses. In a recent news article, it was revealed that “God of Music” has now been classified as a “banned” song by students.

The term “banned” in this context relates to the College Scholastic Ability Test, known as CSAT or “Suneung” in South Korea. This standardized test, administered by the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation, plays a crucial role in university admissions in the country. The test is conducted annually on the third Thursday of November, with the upcoming examination scheduled for November 16, 2023.

The decision to label songs as “banned” during this period is often a precaution to ensure that students remain focused on their studies and do not get distracted by catchy tunes in the lead-up to this important examination. As a testament to the power of SEVENTEEN’s music, “God of Music” has joined the ranks of such songs, temporarily considered too irresistible for students preparing for the CSAT.

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo in Talks for ‘Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint’

Excitement is building among BLINKs as the news broke that BLACKPINK member Jisoo is in talks to star in the upcoming movie Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint. 

On Tuesday, October 24, Korean media reported that industry insiders revealed that Jisoo had been offered a role in the film adaptation of the popular web novel.

In response to these reports, YG Entertainment confirmed the news. “BLACKPINK’s Jisoo received an offer to star in Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint and is reviewing the offer positively,” the label said, according to Soompi. 

What we know so far about ‘Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint’ 

For those unfamiliar, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint will be a movie adaptation of a well-loved web novel of the same name.

It revolves around Kim Dok Ja, the protagonist, who unexpectedly finds himself in a world shaped by the narrative of the web novel he had been reading. His mission is to restore the world to its original state. 

According to previous reports, popular actors Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Min Ho are being considered for the roles of Kim Dok Ja and Yoo Jung Hyuk, respectively. Notably, Yoo Jung Hyuk is the main character in the web novel that Kim Dok Ja reads. 

Furthermore, reports claim that if Jisoo accepts the offer, she is likely to portray the character Lee Ji Hye, a student that Yoo Jung Hyuk takes under his wing.

Other cast members who are reported to be in the movie are Jung Sung II and Park Ho San. Meanwhile, Chase Soo Bin, Shin Seung Ho, and Nana are reportedly offered to portray the characters of Yoo Sang Ah, Lee Hyun Sung, and Jung Hee Won, respectively. 

Aside from these, other details about the movie, such as its target premiere date have yet to be announced. 

Actress Jisoo is back! 

Following the news, fans couldn’t help but share their excitement on social media. Many are rejoicing as Jisoo’s potential involvement in Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint marks a significant step in her acting career. 

To recall, she made her acting debut with the action-romance series Snowdrop. There, she garnered recognition for her performance in her first leading role and even won the “Outstanding Actress Award” at the 17th Seoul International Drama Awards.

Recently, she also made a cameo appearance in the film Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman.  

Aside from Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, Jisoo was also reported to be in talks for starring in a zombie drama. While there’s no confirmation yet about these acting projects, fans are eagerly anticipating to see more of the idol venturing into acting. 

In other news, YG Entertainment still remains mum about the contract status of BLACKPINK members.

Teen Top’s Changjo to Enlist in Military on November 20

Changjo of K-pop boy group TEEN TOP has announced that he will be starting his mandatory military service on November 20. 

On Tuesday, October 24, his agency Beat Interactive confirmed the news. 

“Changjo recently passed the Military Manpower Administration’s Special Service, and he plans to faithfully perform his national defense duties as a member of the Army’s military band after finishing basic military training,” the label said, according to a Soompi translation. 

Additionally, the agency announced that no official events will take place in line with Changjo’s enlistment. Moreover, they also didn’t disclose the exact location and time for it for everyone’s safety. 

He will be the third Teen Top member to enlist in the military following Chungji and Ricky. 

In a handwritten letter posted on his Instagram, Changjo, whose real name is Choi Jong-hyun, also told fans about his military enlistment plans.

“Maybe it’s because I’ve been mentally preparing as I watched the members go through their own enlistments, I find myself actually feeling excited and a bit nervous,” the TEEN TOP member said. 

Furthermore, he also assured his fans that he’ll stay safe during his service and will return as a better person. “Through this upcoming military service, my goal is to return as someone even stronger, healthier, and more mature for my fans who have continually supported me,” he wrote. 

Notably, he also concluded his message with his possible discharge date. “Let’s meet again in good health with smiles on our faces on May 19, 2025,” he said. 

As a treat to his fans, he’ll hold his first solo fan meeting on November 18 titled Jonghyun’s Birthday Party. 

Look back on the idol career of Changjo

Changjo made his debut as the youngest member of Teen Top in 2010. Initially a six-piece act, L.Joe left the group in February 2017 while C.A.P left in May 2023. 

In January 2022, Changjo didn’t renew his contract with TOP Media but remained to be part of TEEN TOP.  The group is known for hit songs “To You”, “Miss Right”, and “Crazy.” 

After his exit from TOP Media, Changjo signed with Beat Interactive in June 2023. 

In July 2023, Teen Top made their first comeback in over four years as a quartet. 

Outside of his activities in Teen Top, the idol is also an accomplished actor. He is best known for his roles in TV shows Sweden Laundry and My Brother Disappeared. In 2015, he took on a lead role in the movie Mak Girls.

In a recent episode of “Salon Drip”, Hoshi began discussing the various perks and features at HYBE, such as the impressive standards for ramen at the company. Host Jang Do Yeon asked about the elevators in their office, specifically mentioning the existence of an artist-exclusive elevator.

Hoshi explained that HYBE has just one elevator designated for artists, even though the company houses numerous renowned stars. This often results in a bit of a wait, given the demand.

The SEVENTEEN member delved further into the layout of the building, sharing that there is a separate floor dedicated to artist parking. When artists reach the elevator, it only stops at certain floors, including the artist lounge and recording areas. Due to the limited options and the sheer number of idols using the elevator, it can sometimes mean a substantial wait to get to the main parking area.

Hoshi humorously recounted an unexpected encounter he had due to these elevator logistics. On one occasion, while waiting for the elevator, the doors opened to reveal the members of NewJeans inside. Despite Hoshi’s confident reputation, he described himself as an “introvert” and admitted to feeling quite shy in this situation. Even when the NewJeans members reassured him that it was alright, he decided to wait rather than joining them in the elevator.

Adding a dash of humor to his story, Hoshi playfully pleaded with HYBE’s founder Bang Si Hyuk for an additional elevator to ease the wait times. This amusing anecdote provides fans with a delightful peek into the everyday experiences of K-Pop idols working under one of the industry’s most prominent entertainment companies, HYBE.

Suzy Explains Doona’s Hime Hairstyle in Netflix Series

There is little doubt that Lee Doona was truly brought to life in “Doona!” and this was made possible by the talented Bae Suzy. However, there were some details from the webtoon that didn’t appear in the Netflix series. For instance, the live-action Doona sports a pretty hime hairstyle in the show. Interestingly, Suzy revealed the reason why her character looks slightly different from the MIN SONGA manhwa.

Suzy recently took part in Netflix’s “Lookbook” series where she discussed the different styles she wore as Lee Doona in the show. She confirmed that her character was not simply confined to one definitive look.

“Considering Doona’s situation, changing her style tailored to it is one of the points to watch for,” Suzy said.

She then discussed the hime hairstyle, or princess cut, which is very different from the character’s original look in the webtoon. Interestingly, the “Vagabond” star admitted that it was her idea to change Doona’s hairstyle for the Netflix series.

“In the webtoon, Doona doesn’t have a hime cut, but a full-bang and wavy hair,” Suzy said. “That’s a style I used to do often though, and since Doona is not a person with a general personality, I wanted to try a hair that’s a little unusual.”

“That’s why I challenged myself, and I decided to make the final decision because it fits well with Doona’s image,” she continued.

It’s great to know that Suzy was fully involved in the development of the character and made sure Lee Doona would be unique in her own right. With that in mind, it makes for a better understanding of the character in the series.

“Doona!” is a romantic drama series based on a beloved webtoon with the same title. The story centers around the experiences of Lee Doona, a former idol as she encounters Lee Wonjun, a regular college student, in a shared living arrangement. The series is now streaming on Netflix.

ATEEZ’s Seonghwa on Temporary Hiatus After Family Tragedy

Seonghwa is going on a much-deserved temporary hiatus. It has been confirmed that the grandmother of the ATEEZ member has passed away. In line with this, Seonghwa’s agency announced that he will be taking a break from activities following the family tragedy.

On October 25, KQ Entertainment shared the somber news of the passing of ATEEZ’s Seonghwa’s beloved grandmother. In light of this unfortunate event, Seonghwa will be taking a temporary hiatus from some of the group’s forthcoming activities in the United States.

“We are conveying the unfortunate news that ATEEZ member Seonghwa’s grandmother passed away on October 23,” the statement read. “We offer our blessings to the departed, and we ask that you send Seonghwa your warm comfort and support.”

“Accordingly, we are informing you that Seonghwa will inevitably be unable to participate in [the group’s] scheduled activities in the United States,” it adds.

Despite the challenging circumstances, Seonghwa has made the admirable decision to fulfill his commitment to the upcoming “Immortal Songs in New York” concert, which is scheduled to take place on October 26. It is a testament to his dedication and professionalism as an artist.

The news of Seonghwa’s temporary absence from ATEEZ’s activities serves as a reminder of the importance of family and the profound impact such personal losses can have. During this difficult time, ATEEZ’s fans, known as ATINY, have shown their support and empathy for Seonghwa.

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, Ahn Bo-Hyun Break Up

Several months after going public with their relationship, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and actor Ahn Bo-hyun have parted ways due to “busy schedules.”

According to a Soompi report on Tuesday, October 24, an industry representative claimed that the two “naturally became distant due to their busy schedules” which resulted in their split. Additionally, said report claimed that the break up only happened recently. 

In response, BLACKPINK’s agency YG Entertainment confirmed the news. “It is true that Jisoo and Ahn Bo Hyun broke up,” they said. 

To recall, Jisoo and Bo-hyun’s relationship was confirmed by their respective agencies in August 2023. Entertainment news website Dispatch was the first outlet to break the news, sharing photos of the couple spending time at Jisoo’s home. Both reportedly bond over their similar interests in acting, singing, and fashion. Moreover, the relationship garnered a lot of attention as it was the first time for a BLACKPINK member to admit that she’s dating. 

Following the news of their split, some fans took to social media to express their surprise and reaction to the breakup. Nevertheless, some remain hopeful that the two will continue to be good colleagues instead. 

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and Ahn Bo-hyun’s individual careers

Another reason why the relationship between Jisoo and Bo-hyun left fans surprised was because the two haven’t worked with each other before. Some even thought that it was Jisoo’s Snowdrop co-actor Jung Hae-in who served as a matchmaker between the two as Hae-in is a same-age friend to Bo-hyun. But Hae-in explained that he only found out that the two were dating through the news. 

 Ahn Bo Hyun, 35, starred in shows See You In My 19th Life, Yumi’s Cells, Military Prosecutor Doberman, My Name, and Itaewon Class. 

Meanwhile, Jisoo made her debut as a member of BLACKPINK in August 2016. She also ventured into acting through the Disney+ series Snowdrop. Recently, she made a cameo appearance in the film Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman. As a solo artist, she made her debut in March with the EP ME. 

Currently, fans are eagerly awaiting for Jisoo and BLACKPINK’s contract renewal status with YG Entertainment.

Photos From Wedding of EXO Chen Go Viral on Social Media

EXO member Chen officially tied the knot with his non-showbiz partner in a private ceremony on October 22, and the momentous event quickly created a buzz of excitement and nostalgia among fans. 

Chen, whose real name is Kim Jong-dae, first made public his relationship in January 2020. In a handwritten letter, the idol told his fans that he has a girlfriend that he “wants to spend the rest of his [life] with.” At the time, he also announced that they’re also expecting their first child. In April 2020, it was confirmed that Chen’s partner had given birth to their first child. 

Then in January 2022, it was confirmed that the couple welcomed their second daughter while the idol was in the military.

In August, SM Entertainment announced that Chen and his partner will be holding a belated wedding ceremony in October. According to the agency, the wedding ceremony  has been delayed due to circumstances, such as Chen’s military enlistment and his wife’s childbirth. 

Details about the wedding ceremony were intentionally kept private out of respect for Chen’s non-celebrity wife. Nevertheless, numerous attendees shared glimpses of the occasion, giving fans a peek into the joyful celebration.

In the photos circulating on social media, the couple’s radiant happiness on their big day is evident. Chen looked dapper in a white shirt paired with a matching jacket, black bow tie, and trousers. Meanwhile, his bride looked absolutely elegant in a maroon dress. Additionally, the venue was adorned with pure white flowers, creating a magical atmosphere that symbolized the purity of their love.

 

One heartwarming aspect of the wedding ceremony was the presence of  all EXO group members. Even Kai who’s currently serving in the military was reported to be in attendance. Some videos also saw EXO members participating in the ceremony, with Baekhyun and Xiumin as the hosts, while Suho performs a special song. Notably, Chen was also captured to serenade his wife. 

 

Given that the news about Chen’s relationship drew mixed reaction from fans, others who are supportive about the idol’s personal affairs are delighted to see EXO’s reunion in the event. For them, it’s a testament of the strong bond among the members.
