History and mystery will take center stage in Netflix’s upcoming original series Gyeongseong Creature, which will be headlined by South Korean stars Park Seo-jun and Han So-hee.
On Sunday, November 12, the streaming platform released a teaser for the show, giving fans an initial taste of the suspenseful narrative. In the teaser, the lead characters are seen battling against horrific creatures and engaging in physical fights as their attempt for survival.
According to a press release, Gyeongseong Creature is set in the backdrop of 1945, when Korea was still under Japanese colonial rule. Additionally, the series will revolve around “two young adults who encounter strange creatures born from greed.”
“[They] must battle for survival in the city of Gyeongseong, now known as Seoul. But as it turns out, there may be something even more dangerous out there than the creatures themselves,” Netflix added.
In the series, Seo-jun will take on the character of Jang Tae-sang, a wealthy pawnshop owner who’s known for his good sense of humor and insight.
Already a familiar face in the Korean drama scene, Seo-joon’s impressive discography includes popular works such as Hwarang, Fight For My Way, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, Itaewon Class, Dream, and Concrete Utopia. Recently, he also ventured into Hollywood, making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with The Marvels.
Meanwhile, So-hee will step into the shoes of Yoon Chae-ok, a sleuth with a passion for uncovering the truth and looking for missing people. Given her compelling performances in previous works The World of the Married, Nevertheless, and My Name, fans are anticipating how she’ll showcase her ability to portray complex characters anew.
