BLACKPINK’s Jennie Opens Up About Passing of Beloved Dog Kai

Jennie is finally opening up about a tragedy in her personal life. The BLACKPINK member shared her feeling about the recent passing of her beloved pet Kai. The “Solo” singer also revealed that her other dog Kuma and her mother are greatly affected by the loss.

The dog Kuma was recently the special guest on “Kang Hyung Wook’s Dog Guest Show”. Jennie joined her pet in the episode and discussed several topics with the celebrity dog trainer.

At one point, Kang Hyung Wook asked if the BLACKPINK member had any questions about living with Kuma. Jennie then revealed that she was concerned about Kuma since the death of her first dog Kai.

“Actually…my first dog (Kai) recently died, and Kuma went through a lot,” she said. “I was wondering if there was anything I could do to comfort him.”

“Our family thought Kuma is very depressed…yet it feels like there’s nothing we can effectively do,” Jennie added. “He would mimic everything the other dog did.”

Kang Hyung Wook then assured Jennie that it would only be difficult for Kuma at first. However, the dog will eventually adjust to the change. The dog trainer then turned his attention to Jennie’s other family members.

“But it’s always a lot harder for people. Is your mom okay? It must be very hard for your mother…” he said.

“She is not okay,” Jennie admitted. “We stopped calling each other for a while and we just basically stopped talking.” She further explained that their interactions became too emotional to the point that they would simply cry at the slightest eye contact.

“It also took me a very long time to be able to talk about this openly,” Jennie confessed.

Luckily, Jennie is slowly opening up about her feelings about Kai, who she says was like a little brother to her.

In related news, Jennie’s HBO series ‘The Idol’ premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival which she attended. The show will begin airing on the network on June 4, 2023.

Women’s Wear Daily interviewed Jennie Ruby Jane ahead of her red carpet appearance at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. During the interview, she admitted that being at the festival was overwhelming. Still, Jennie is proud to represent her new series at the event.

“It’s overwhelming, but I’m grateful and thankful. All of those things at the same time,” she said. “Especially as it’s the first step in my acting career, I was honored to be able to come.”

Jennie also revealed that she is a fan of Sam Levinson. “I’ve been admiring Sam’s work for a very long time,” she said. This made it easy to take direction from the “Euphoria” writer.

“I trusted Sam to be collaborative with all the scenes that we would be working on together, because it was about the industry. The fact that it was about the music industry fascinated me, and I thought I could bring something to the role,” Jennie said.

She then revealed that she didn’t have to prepare much for her acting debut.

“It was an opportunity to just be myself and be brave. I didn’t really train for it, or prep anything,” she said. “Sam wanted me to just be myself.”

Still, it wasn’t as easy as it sounds. “It definitely was a challenge, because I’ve never experienced anything like that before. It was like, breaking a wall for me,” Jennie said.

Jennie Reveals Lily-Rose Depp’s Advice on Her Acting Debut

Luckily, the “Solo” singer had the guidance of ‘The Idol’ co-star Lily-Rose Depp, who plays main character Jocelyn in the series.

“She really helped me a lot. Telling me about scenes, and it was very comforting to have her there,” Jennie said of Depp. She also revealed her fellow Chanel ambassador’s advice.

“She just taught me to express myself and be comfortable with myself, to not be scared,” Jennie shared.

‘The Idol’ premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 22, 2023. The series will begin broadcasting on HBO on June 4, 2023.

On May 18, a grainy video was shared on social media. It shows two people holding hands while taking a walk along the River Seine in Paris. According to the photographer, the couple in the video are actually BTS’s V and BLACKPINK member Jennie.

An update from the photographer, who was revealed to be Amar Taoualit, explains that the video was taken on May 15. He claims that he delayed releasing the video for V and Jennie’s safety. Moreover, the French photographer shared more videos of the couple.

HYBE and YG Entertainment have since addressed the viral video. Both agencies commented that “It is difficult to check [regarding this matter].” The companies pointed out that “they are unable to confirm due to the artists’ privacy.”

This is not the first time that V and Jennie became the subject of dating rumors. There have been several photos shared on social media showing the BTS singer and BLACKPINK member together. Although the images were fan-made, the speculations have persisted for several years.

Most recently, Kim Taehyung and Jennie Kim were caught up in a dating rumor in May 2022. YG Entertainment had previously addressed the speculations by stating “We have nothing to say [regarding this matter].”

V’s most recent project was the reality cooking show “Jinny’s Kitchen” which also starred fellow Wooga Squad members Park Seo Joon and Choi Woo Shik. BTS also dropped their new single “The Planet” which serves as the opening theme for the animated show “Bastions”.

YG Entertainment confirmed the news regarding Jennie’s attendance at the film festival. “Jennie will attend the Cannes Film Festival on May 22,” the agency announced.

Jennie will attend the 76th Cannes Film Festival in support of her upcoming series. It was confirmed in April that HBO’s new show “The Idol” will get an Out of Competition premiere at the event. Although there were speculations that Jennie will be in attendance, YG Entertainment confirmed it today.

Jennie’s role in “The Idol” remains undisclosed. However, the BLACKPINK member had previously confirmed her new stage name will be Jennie Ruby Jane as she makes her acting debut.

“The Idol” follows an aspiring pop star named Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) as she aims to become “the sexiest pop star in America.” Her journey becomes complicated as she explores a new relationship with a self-help guru (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye).

Jennie is not the only South Korean idol who will attend the 76th Cannes Film Festival. It was previously confirmed that aespa will also be in attendance at the film event.

Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning will attend the event as the global ambassador of Chopard. The luxury Swiss jewelry brand has officially sponsored the Cannes Film Festival since 1997. This makes aespa the first K-pop group to officially attend the prestigious film festival.

f(x)’s Krystal will also attend the event in support of her film “Cobweb” which will screen Out of Competition. Rapper BIBI is also set to attend to support “Hopeless”, Kim Chang Hoon’s feature film debut which will be screening in the Un Certain Regard section.

The 76th Cannes Film Festival takes place in Cannes on May 16 to 27, 2023.

Jennie, who is the brand’s global ambassador, expressed her excitement about the special collection.

“Collaborating with Calvin Klein on this capsule has been an exciting progression in our partnership,” Jennie says in a statement (via Billboard).

“This collection reflects my everyday style and is based on many of the Calvin Klein essentials that have become staples in my wardrobe,” she added.

“I wanted to bring a personal touch to these pieces, which you’ll see reflected in the fit, the color palette and the details. My aspiration for this collection is that everyone will feel as happy and confident in these pieces as I do,” Jennie concluded.

What’s In The JENNIE for Calvin Klein Capsule Collection?

The collection includes bralettes and matching bottoms, bodysuits, tank tops, tees, joggers, dresses, denim shirts, jeans and crewneck sweatshirts. Moreover, the pieces are available in lilac, chalk blue and desert. However, fans can still get them in classic black and white.

Jonathan Bottomley, Calvin Klein’s global chief marketing officer, expressed their excitement about working with Jennie.

Jennie wasn’t the only South Korean celebrity at Met Gala 2023. Song Hye Kyo was also in attendance and the two decided to give fans a treat by taking a breathtaking selfie together. Vogue Korea shared the photo on Instagram which immediately had people swooning.

During an interview with Vogue, Jennie gushed about her vintage dress confirming it is based on Karl Lagerfeld’s original design.

“I’m wearing Chanel from the ’90s,” she said. “I’m so lucky to have the Chanel team recreate this look from the ’90s, the one that Karl did. So I’m just, like, so happy!

Jennie also revealed that Rosé had great advice for her appearance at the event. The BLACKPINK member, who attended the Met Gala in 2022, reportedly told her to enjoy herself!

“Rosé, she was here last year, and she told me, ‘Just have fun,’ so that’s the plan for today. I’m going to go have fun!” Jennie said with a smile.

Jennie is currently on the road with BLACKPINK for their BORN PINK World Tour. The group recently announced encore shows in North America.

Song Hye Kyo attended the 2023 Met Gala as Fendi’s brand ambassador. She recently won the Best Actress Award at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards for her performance in “The Glory”.
