This exhibition not only serves as a creative outlet for Ilhoon but also as a means of reconnecting with fans, letting them know that he is doing well.

In addition to displaying his artistic creations, Ilhoon is offering a variety of merchandise at the exhibition. Fans can purchase t-shirts, hoodies, ball caps, eco bags, mugs, key rings, and photo books as mementos of the event. Additionally, he is offering special photo cards—10 unique types that can be collected based on the amount spent at the exhibition. The venue, which spans two floors, has been thoughtfully arranged to provide fans with a memorable experience, further deepening the connection between Ilhoon and his supporters.

Ilhoon’s exhibition comes after a challenging period in his life. He left BTOB in December 2020 after being charged with purchasing and smoking marijuana. Ilhoon was caught for purchasing approximately 130 million KRW (~$96,520 USD) worth of marijuana between July 2016 and January 2019. During his appeal, he submitted 88 letters of self-reflection, seeking leniency from the court.

Since his release, Ilhoon has expressed remorse, issuing a heartfelt apology to fans through social media. He reflected on his actions, stating, “During the past few years of investigation, trial, and imprisonment, I’ve deeply reflected on my life.” Ilhoon vowed to live a more responsible life, promising, “I will live properly from now on and make every effort to ensure that I do not hurt anyone again.”

BTOB Calls Off Jakarta Fan Concert

APlanet Entertainment announced on July 2 that BTOB’s planned fan concert in Jakarta, titled “OUR DREAM,” has been canceled. The event, originally set for July 13, will no longer proceed as planned. The cancellation was confirmed through a statement released by APlanet Entertainment, citing unspecified reasons for the decision.

They said: “With a heavy heart, we would like to inform you that the BTOB FAN-CON [OUR DREAM] IN JAKARTA, originally scheduled for July 13th, 3 p.m. has been canceled.”

“After deep internal discussions and careful consideration with BTOB COMPANY, we regret to inform you that we have decided to cancel this event due to unforeseen circumstances. The show has been canceled due to contractual issues such as the inadequate local preparations and non-fulfillment of contractual obligations.”

They assured fans: “For fans who have purchased tickets, the refund process will be carried out through the loket.com refund system.

They concluded: “Once again, we sincerely apologize for bringing this sad news to all the fans who have been looking forward to the Jakarta fan-con. Thank you for your understanding and support. We promise to comeback soon with an improved performance that will meet your expectations and bring you great satisfaction.

In a May 2024 announcement, it was reported that BTOB had scheduled a visit to Jakarta on September 21, 2024. However, specific details regarding the venue and ticketing information were not disclosed at that time.

BTOB has a history of performing concerts in Jakarta, including their latest one on September 21, 2018, which took place at The Kasablanka.

Four BTOB Members Establish BTOB Company

BTOB members Eunkwang, Hyunsik, Minhyuk, and Peniel have taken a significant step in their careers by founding BTOB Company, their own label. This new venture operates as a subsidiary of DOD, a newly-formed agency that the four members joined in December after signing exclusive contracts. They recently acquired the rights to use the name BTOB in an agreement with Cube Entertainment, their previous agency.

A representative from BTOB Company expressed their commitment to supporting the members in their future endeavors. “We will spare no effort to support Eunkwang, Hyunsik, Minhyuk, and Peniel as well as BTOB’s future activities so that they can be more active in various fields,” they said in a statement.

Following their departure from Cube Entertainment in November last year, when their contracts expired, all six BTOB members took new paths. Changsub signed with Fantagio, joining other K-pop acts like ASTRO and Weki Meki, while Yook Sungjae moved to I Will Media in December 2023.

BTOB Company marks a new chapter

Despite the members signing with different labels, these companies have promised to support their activities with BTOB. Their latest group release was the mini-album Wind and Wish in May 2023.

Some of the group’s members are pursuing solo activities. Hyunsik released his second solo EP The Young Man and the Deep Sea on February 16 under DOD. Eunkwang is appearing on Mnet’s vocal survival show Build Up as a judge, not as a contestant. Changsub is also active in musical theater and hosts the online variety show Jengwaja on YouTube.
