Italian Winery Debuts ‘Layover’ Wine Inspired by V of BTS

GherarVini di Matteo Gherardini, an Italian winery, unveiled a new wine named Layover. This wine is inspired by V of BTS and his solo album. It’s part of the winery’s innovative Music In A Bottle series. The Layover wine is linked to Spotify through a barcode on the back of the bottle. Enthusiasts can scan that barcode and listen to V’s single “Slow Dancing” while enjoying the wine. GherarVini picked a white wine to complement the jazzy and refreshing vibes of the song.

GherarVini’s Music In A Bottle series also features wines inspired by other musicians and cultural icons. So far they have bottles linked to Taylor Swift’s “Exile,” King Crimson’s “21st Century Schizoid Man,” and various Christmas carols. They also produced a Lionel Messi wine celebrating the football star’s 2022 FIFA World Cup victory.

More on the ‘Layover’ wine

The idea for the series originated during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, as Matteo Gherardini, the proprietor of GherarVini, sought to combine his two greatest passions: wine and music. Gherardini took great care in developing this project, registering the designs to secure the uniqueness of his idea. The product’s name reflects the simplicity and directness of the concept.

The initiative not only appeals to wine lovers but to music fans as well, particularly those of BTS’s V. Their idol previously influenced wine markets without meaning to. In September, V went on SUGA’s YouTube show Suchwita and talked about his preference for white wine. He revealed that when he posted about the 2001 vintage Chateau Margaux, led to a global sell-out and the drink’s rise in popularity on Google Trends.

Gherar Vini’s Music In A Bottle series, including the Layover wine, is but one of the many ways in which wine can be paired with other things to create a unique consumer experience. For more details on this delightful fusion of music and wine, enthusiasts can check out the GherarVini website. The brand also has an active Instagram account. – K-Pop News Writer

BTS’s V Solo Album ‘Layover’ Celebrates 7 Consecutive Weeks On Billboard 200

V has achieved a historic milestone on the Billboard 200, solidifying his position as a record-breaking artist in the global music industry. The success comes with the BTS member’s solo album ‘Layover’, which continues to dominate global charts.

‘Layover’ Celebrates 7th Week in the Billboard 200

V made his solo debut with the album ‘Layover’ in September, which promptly landed on the Billboard 200 chart at an impressive No. 2. The remarkable achievement equalled the record set by his fellow BTS members Jimin and Suga as the highest-ranking Korean solo albums on the chart.

The latest feat ensured V’s status as the first K-pop solo artist to maintain a presence on the Billboard 200 for seven consecutive weeks. Since its debut, ‘Layover’ has retained a spot on the chart, and for the week ending on November 4, it impressively held position at No. 160.

‘Layover’ is only the second Korean solo album to have achieved such longevity on the Billboard 200. V’s bandmate RM previously charted for seven weeks with his solo album ‘Indigo’, albeit with non-consecutive weeks.

Beyond the Billboard 200, ‘Layover’ climbed to No. 13 on Billboard’s Top Current Album Sales chart and No. 18 on the Top Album Sales chart during its seventh week on both charts.

V’s title track “Slow Dancing” also maintained its presence on the Billboard charts as well. It ascended to No. 30 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart and No. 54 on the Global 200 chart during its seventh week. His pre-release single “Love Me Again” also saw success, re-entering the charts at No. 116 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart during its 11th week.

V’s impact as a solo artist extended to the Billboard Artist 100, where he secured the No. 83 position, marking his ninth appearance on the chart, showcasing the enduring influence of his solo work. V’s groundbreaking achievements underscore his status as an exceptional artist, not only within the K-pop realm but also on the international music stage.

‘Layover’ was released on September 8, 2023.

Look: BTS’ V Performs ‘Slow Dancing’ With Yeontan

Kim Taehyung, aka BTS’ V, lit up the stage with his “Slow Dancing performance but surprisingly, his cutest surprise guest Yeontan was the one who stole the show.

On Thursday, September 14, Kim Yeontan, V’s pet Pomeranian, made his official music show debut through his special live appearance on the M Countdown stage.

The performance started with a photo of Yeontan’s face from the album cover of Layover. Then, it transitioned to an actual video of the pet, leaving fans surprised. Prior to the performance, V had already hinted that he’ll have a special guest for that stage. Throughout V’s performance, Yeontan, affectionately called as Tannie, is seen strolling freely around the stage.

And the cuteness didn’t even stop there as V also shared a photo of him with Yeontan backstage. What made the day even more special was that V also took home the music win for that day. So for his caption, he quipped that even his beloved Tannie also has a music win under his belt.

ARMYs love Yeontan

The clip of Tannie’s debut immediately went viral and garnered a lot of love on social media. Fans, especially ARMYs, can’t get over the duo’s cuteness and gushed over the heartwarming “father and son” moment.

“No one can steal the show from Kim Taehyung except of course Kim Yeontan! Most beautiful son and dad in the world!”, one fan wrote.

Others also pointed out how behaved Yeontan is and how fit he is to be a performer. “The way Yeontan  looks directly at the camera! He was born to be a star just like his father,” another stated.

More about Tannie

Even before making his stage debut, Tannie has already been widely admired by ARMYs worldwide. The black-and-tan Pomeranian was first introduced to the public in December 2017, during the live broadcast of BTSJin.

Since then, Yeontan has made numerous appearances on the sensational group’s content. In fact, the well-loved dog appeared in behind-the-scenes clips, photoshoots, and even in the BTS: Burn The Stage film.

However, V disclosed some time ago that Tannie is having some health issues. According to the idol, his pet endured heart-related problems and endured two unsuccessful surgeries for it. In a recent guest appearance in Pixd, V shared how much he wants pets to have a longer life.

With this sad news, fans expected that there’d be fewer chances to see Yeontan’s public appearance again given his sensitive health condition. Moreover, ARMYs are also hoping for the pet’s welfare.

Which is why many fans are moved that V decided to include Tannie in Layover.  Notably, the singer has previously disclosed how the  pet played a huge part in his solo debut album. Not only was Yeontan the face of his album cover, but V also posed with his pet for some concept photos.

BTS V Reveals Legendary Music Icon Who Inspired ‘Layover’

V’s new album ‘Layover’ clearly has a sound of its own. However, the BTS member admits that his album was also influenced by other people’s music. For instance, Kim Taehyung already expressed his love for jazz and how the album is connected to his group’s ‘HYYH’ era. Now, V confirmed that a legendary music icon helped inspire his new songs.

V Credits Legendary Music Icon as Surprising Inspiration Behind ‘Layover’ Concept Photos

In a recent appearance on IU’s YouTube show “IU’s Palette” to promote his work on ‘Layover,’ V shared a surprising revelation about a legendary music icon who has deeply influenced him: the renowned English singer-songwriter, musician, and actor David Bowie. During the interview, IU complimented V on his concept photos and inquired about his sources of inspiration. To her query, V candidly disclosed that David Bowie had played a significant role in shaping his creative journey.

Initially unsure about how his response would be received, V was pleasantly surprised when IU recognized the profound impact that Bowie had on his artistic sensibilities. This unexpected connection between V and the legendary Bowie serves as a testament to the wide-reaching influence of music across genres and generations, highlighting how artists like Bowie continue to inspire and resonate with newer generations of musicians like V.

Kim Taehyung had previously explained how ‘Layover’ is connected to BTS’ ‘HYYH’ album series.

“I think you can think of it as connected to BTS’ ‘The Most Beautiful Moment in Life’ series, which showcased the theme of youth,” V said. “You know, when you look back into your past and feel sentimental about those old memories. That strange feeling that comes with reflecting back on your old self, and thinking, ‘I wish I could go back to those good old days…’

‘Layover’ was released on September 8, 2023. V has dropped several singles to promote the album including the pre-release tracks “Love Me Again” and “Rainy Days”. He is also currently promoting the songs “Slow Dancing” and “Blue”.

V Confirms ‘Layover’ Is Connected to BTS’ ‘HYYH’ Era

There is little doubt that the “Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa” series is still one of BTS’ most memorable eras. In fact, the iconic music from the albums continues to be a favorite for most fans. So it’s no surprise that ARMYs are not the only ones who can’t get over the “HYYH” era. According to V, his solo album ‘Layover’ is influenced and strongly connected to the supergroup’s ‘The Most Beautiful Moment in Life’ era.

V Discusses Love for Jazz and Not Being Over the ‘HYYH’ Era

In a recent Rolling Stone interview, V delved into the creative inspiration behind his latest project, ‘Layover’, drawing special influence from the world of jazz. He recounted his journey of falling in love with jazz music, noting that his affection for the genre didn’t blossom instantaneously. Instead, it was a rediscovery that eventually led to a profound and genuine appreciation.

The interviewer then ventured into the realm of nostalgia, curious whether V’s affinity for jazz implied a nostalgic streak in his personality. To this, the idol nodded in agreement, sharing that he indeed feels a deep connection between his fondness for jazz and his memories of “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life.”

How ‘HYYH’ Influenced ‘Layover’

He further added that the influence is evident in most of the songs in ‘Layover’.

“I think that overall sentiment is also reflected in this album,” V said. “Particularly the song ‘Love Me Again’ is about reminiscing and wanting to return to the past. I think those ideas are reflected in the music video as well. So in short, my youth is not over. Right?

The BTS discography’s ‘HYYH’ (Hwa Yong Yeon Hwa) era encompasses a collection of albums known as “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life.” During this period, BTS delved into diverse themes associated with the trials and tribulations of transitioning into adulthood. The three albums in the series include ‘The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 1’, ‘The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 2’, and ‘The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever’.

BTS’ V Calls ‘Barbie’ The Most Impactful Movie He Watched

V is sharing his thoughts about everything, from his beloved dog Yeontan to the best film he has watched. The BTS member is currently promoting his upcoming album “Layover” but he also spoke about movies that had an impact on him. Not surprisingly, Kim Taehyung called “Barbie” the most impactful movie he has seen recently. In addition to that, the “Rainy Days” singer discussed how jazz influenced his solo endeavor.

V Gushes About ‘Barbie’

Kim Taehyung recently sat down with W Korea for a photoshoot and an accompanying interview. When asked if he had watched any good movies lately, V enthusiastically admitted that he has seen “Barbie.”

“I watched ‘Barbie’. Seriously, it really is the most impactful movie I’ve watched recently,” he said.

“Barbie” is directed by Greta Gerwig and stars Margot Robbie as the titular doll. The film follows Barbie and Ken (Ryan Gosling) as they embark on a journey of self-discovery following an existential crisis. “Barbie” has grossed $1.28 billion worldwide, becoming the second highest-grossing film of 2023.

It’s great to know that V has already watched “Barbie” but the influences on his new album are very different from the film’s soundtrack. Still, Kim Taehyung confirmed that “Layover” is inspired by his love for jazz.

“Standard jazz could be a bit too complex, so I tried to make my songs more contemporary and popular,” he said. “When the sun’s setting, under the sunset, when you’re driving, when you get off work… That would be the best time to listen.”

V has recently unveiled two pre-release tracks “Love Me Again” and “Rainy Days”. He is now preparing to drop his third one, titled “Blue.” All this excitement precedes the highly anticipated release of the BTS member’s debut solo mini-album, “Layover,” scheduled for September 8th. Fans are eagerly anticipating this milestone in his career, as V showcases his individual artistry and musical prowess.
