BLACKPINK’s Jisoo Confirmed for Special Appearance In ‘Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman’

Jisoo will be creating cinematic magic later this year. The BLACKPINK member has just been confirmed for a special appearance in an upcoming film. Interestingly, the casting happened because the director saw her performance in the series “Snowdrop”!

During a press conference for the mystery thriller film ‘Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman’ held on September 19, director Kim Sung Sik shared an exciting revelation. He announced that Jisoo, a prominent member of the globally renowned group BLACKPINK, would be making a special cameo appearance in the movie.

Kim Sung Sik explained that his decision to include Jisoo in the film was inspired by her remarkable performance on a television show.

“Looking for an actor who would fit the image of a fairy, I came to think of Jisoo after watching her in Snowdrop,” Kim said. The director then added, “It was 50% fan sentiment and 50% because her schedule fit.”

Jisoo will make a special appearance as a fairy in the upcoming movie. The unexpected cameo is sure to generate buzz and excitement among fans of both Jisoo and the movie. With her multifaceted talents extending beyond the music industry, Jisoo’s cameo is anticipated to add a unique and intriguing element to “Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman”, enhancing the overall viewing experience for audiences eagerly awaiting its release.

“Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman” is an intriguing thriller that revolves around Dr. Cheon, a YouTuber portrayed by Kang Dong Won. Dr. Cheon runs a YouTube channel dedicated to exorcisms, where he performs what he believes are simulated exorcisms, attributing supernatural occurrences to psychological factors. However, his perception of the supernatural changes when he encounters a genuinely possessed individual, the younger sibling of Yoo Kyung, played by Esom.

The film is poised to captivate viewers with its unique blend of psychological intrigue and supernatural suspense, making it a must-watch for fans of the thriller genre. “Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman” is scheduled for release on September 27, 2023.

End of an Era: Blackpink Emotionally Wraps up ‘Born Pink’ World Tour

How are we feeling, BLINKs? K-pop girl group BLACKPINK officially wrapped up their 11-month long Born Pink  world tour in a two-day concert in Seoul’s Gockeok Sky Dome on September 16 to 17. 

The sensational girl group electrified the stage with hits “Pink Venom,” “Pretty Savage”, “How You Like That,” and many more.

As they finally put an end to the Born Pink era, Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa couldn’t help but be emotional as they reminisced about their entire tour journey. 

“One year ago, around this time, we started in Seoul, and one year later now, we got to wrap up the concert. So I’m happy to wrap up with good memories until the end,” Jisoo shared.

Meanwhile, Rose looked back on their first concert. “Our first-ever Seoul concert feels like it was just yesterday,” she said. “It feels like we’ve become one with BLINK, and although this is our last, it feels like we will be together forever.”

Then,  Lisa took the time to thank BLINKs, the group’s fandom, for their support. “To our BLINKs, it’s been over 2,596 days since we met. Thank you BLINKs for this amazing experience, and I really love you all. And thank you BLINKs for making my 20s shine.” she said.

Lastly, Jennie expressed her sentiments on the tour finale. “BLINKs, thank you for loving and cheering us on as always. We will work hard and continue to be BLACKPINK who always impresses,” she said. 

In the middle of a few performances, netizens noticed how Jennie seemed to have held back tears.

BLACKPINK’s achievements with Born Pink

With the final concert in Seoul, the Born Pink world tour now records a staggering total of 66 shows. In a span of 11 months, the four members traveled across North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania to meet BLINKs.

In April, Touring Data reported that the Born Pink world tour became the highest-grossing tour by a female group in history. BLACKPINK accomplished an impressive milestone of having sold 366,000 tickets for the first 26 shows alone. With this, the K-Pop idols surpassed legendary acts such as Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child, and TLC.

For the tour’s fourth show, Touring Data revealed that Born Pink has achieved another record as it becomes the first tour by a female act in Asia to surpass 200 million USD in ticket sales.

Showing off their global influence, BLACKPINK also writes their name down in history as the first artist to headline and sell out several stadiums across the world including Mexico, France, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore.

Born Pink: As if it’s BLACKPINK’s last concert

Amidst these momentous milestones, fans are extra sentimental with the Born Pink finale as the members’ contract with their agency, YG Entertainment, also comes to an end. 

Debuted in 2016, BLACKPINK marked their seventh debut anniversary in August 2023.  Which means their seven-year contract has also expired.

Numerous South Korean media outlets have reported that Lisa rejected two offers for renewal. However, YG Entertainment addressed the rumors stating: “We are still discussing contract renewals with Lisa. The rumors that are going around are nothing that is confirmed.”

As of writing, none of the BLACKPINK members have finalized their contract renewal yet— making fans keen and anxious of the group’s future activities.

Jennie is hoping to join a celebrated variety show. The BLACKPINK member was recently mentioned by her friend in an episode of “Salon Drip”. In response, Jennie Kim pushed for a possible guest appearance on the YouTube series!

Shin Hyun Ji Shares BLACKPINK Jennie’s Adorable Runway Behavior

In a recent episode of “Salon Drip”, model Shin Hyun Ji was interviewed by host Jang Do Yeon. During the interview, Shin discussed what happened when she was chosen to close the run at the Chanel Fall-Winter 2023/24 Haute Couture Show in Paris in July. Although the model was nervous, she quickly noticed that her friend Jennie was in the front row of the audience.

Shin went on to share how the BLACKPINK member supported her during her runway walk.

“She can just sit there and watch the show with a normal expression,” she said. “But if I walk by, she will make all these cute and funny expressions while filming me.”

Not surprisingly, Jennie appreciated being mentioned on the YouTube show. She took to her Instagram account to share a Story which was a clip from the series. The BLACKPINK member made sure to tag Shin Hyun Ji and Jang Do Yeon in her post as well.

Let’s meet up and film another challenge soon bestie,” she wrote before tagging Shin. Jennie also had an interesting message for the host of “Salon Drip”.

“Unnie, when do I get an invite for ‘Salon Drip’?” Jennie wrote.

Jennie certainly would be the perfect guest for “Salon Drip” and BLINKS immediately wondered if Jang Do Yeon would decide to invite the idol. After all, it’s clear that the “Solo” singer is eager to make a guest appearance on the YouTube show.

Wow! WWD Includes Blackpink’s Jennie in Top 50 Most Influential Women in 2023

BLACKPINK’s Jennie has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women in 2023 of Women’s Wear Daily (WWD), making her the only K-Pop idol to make it onto the list.

The sensational singer continues to prove her global influence as she joins the list of WWD’s ‘50 Women in Power.’ Such list includes prominent figures in the fashion industry ranging from CEOs, politicians, and celebrities. 

 

Among the list are famous superstars who have built their own beauty brand. Selena Gomez, founder of Rare Beauty; Rihanna, founder of Fenty Beauty, and Scarlett Johansson, founder of The Outset, are some who made it to the list alongside Jennie.

In the feature, Jennie noted that confidence is the key in empowering women.Women can be powerful by knowing that their voice matters and knowing their own worth. Especially in an industry like mine, being confident in what I believe in is very important. When we’re free to be creative and go for what we want, that’s how we can be powerful!” she said in an interview with WWD

Upon the announcement, the singer expressed her gratitude through her personal social media account. “Thank you WWD for including me in this year’s Women in Power’ list,” she said. 

 

A true fashion icon

The year 2023 has been nothing short of exceptional for Jennie’s fashion endeavors. 

Jennie was named as one of the last few Chanel muses handpicked by the legendary Karl Lagerfeld. In 2023, she has been part of two major campaigns:  the Coco Crush fine jewelry in January, and the Chanel 22 bag in March.

According to the data analysis provider Launchmetrics, her presence at the Paris Fashion Week generated a staggering $4.5 Million in Media Impact Value (MIV).  

Additionally, she’s been dubbed as the “Human Chanel.” In May, the rapper also made her highly-anticipated Met Gala debut. There, the idol stunned with an archival Chanel look from the brand’s Fall/Winter 1990 runway collection.

Moreover, Jennie has been named as a global ambassador for Calvin Klein. In May, Jennie released her first CK capsule collection consisting of denim, essentials, and knitwear which were immediately sold out upon its release.

According to Launchmetrics, Jennie’s single post about her Calvin Klein collection topped $2.1 Million MIV. Her campaign with the brand generated a total of $6.8 Million in MIV.

 

Apart from her impact in the fashion industry, Jennie dominates the music world as well. Interestingly, she also made her acting debut with the HBO original The Idol. 

In the WWD interview, Jennie also shared how she aims to transcend genres. “I like to be versatile. Inspirations change all the time. I’m a fan of the ’80s, ’90s, ’70s, everything,” she said.

Needless to say, there were speculations that Rosé and Swift are collaborating on a new project. The rumors were fueled by the knowledge that Swift is currently working on a new album.

Numerous individuals are well-informed about Taylor Swift’s diligent efforts as she readies her upcoming album. It’s worth mentioning that a variety of prominent artists, such as Hayley Williams, Sabrina Carpenter, Cara Delevingne, Gracie Abrams, Sadie Sink, Jack Antonoff, and Margaret Qualley, have been spotted exiting the very same studio.

So what exactly is happening here? Reports confirmed that Swift hosted an album release celebration at Electric Lady Studios on September 9, 2023. There is a huge possibility that Rosé was invited along with a few friends to celebrate the upcoming release. However, it has not been confirmed whether the BLACKPINK member collaborated on a song with the American singer.

Taylor Swift is currently set to release ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ which was a re-recording of her 2014 album.  The album is set to contain five previously unreleased “From the Vault” tracks.

Wow! Blackpink’s Lisa to Perform at Crazy Horse Cabaret in Paris

Are you ready for this, BLINKs? BLACKPINK’s Lisa is about to take another momentous achievement in her career! She’s set to become the first K-Pop artist to perform at the prestigious Crazy Horse Paris.

On Wednesday, September 6, the singer from the sensational girl group announced on that she would be transforming into a “Crazy Girl” soon. 

Lisa, known for her dancing prowess, is set to headline five iconic performances at Crazy Horse Paris this upcoming September 28, 29, and 30. 

According to Crazy Horse, Lisa will be performing classics including “But I’m a Good Girl” and Crisis? What Crisis?”. Her performances will reportedly feature several scenes, as well as appearances with the troupe. 

 

Earlier this year, the idol revealed that she visited the Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris, prompting speculations among fans. It is also reported that the artist has long been a fan of the troupe’s unique style. 

For those unfamiliar, Crazy Horse Paris is a well-known cabaret famous for its alluring stage performances featuring nude female dancers. Aside from Lisa, international celebrities like Beyonce, Aubade, and Frederick Wiseman, have all previously performed at the art theater.

Lisa became the fastest Kpop female soloist to achieve 1 billion streams on the music streaming platform Spotify, despite having only three tracks. Blackpink Now With 6 Nominations in MTV VMAs 2023

The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) has revealed more K-pop nominees for this year’s award show and the competition just got fiercer! 

On Friday, September 1, MTV announced the nominees for four VMA categories. They are Group of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Summer, and Show of the Summer, in which numerous K-Pop groups have earned nominations for.

With this, BLACKPINK now tops the K-pop acts with the most nominations with their six nods. The four-member girl group under YG Entertainment scored additional nods for: Show of the Summer and Group of the Year categories. 

Previously, the 2023 MTV VMAs announced that the group was nominated for Best K-Pop, Best Choreography, Best Art Direction, and Best Editing. And all nominations are for their hit track “Pink Venom.” Remarkably, BLACKPINK also became the first K-pop girl group to perform at the VMAs with “Pink Venom” last year.

Meanwhile,TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) scored a total of four nominations- the most of any male K-Pop group this year. Apart from the previously announced nominations for Push Performance and Best K-Pop, TXT are now competing for the Group of the Year and Song of the Summer categories, too.

Among the recently announced nominees are BTS’ Jungkook and FIFTY FIFTY. They both have secured Song of the Summer nominations for their viral hits “Seven” (feat. Latto) and “Cupid,” respectively.

Additionally, BLACKPINK and TXT are joined by SEVENTEEN, NewJeans, and FIFTY FIFTY for the Group of the Year category.

Note that MTV also has a Best K-pop category, which they only added in 2019. For this year, the acts competing are BLACKPINK, TXT, aespa, FIFTY FIFTY, SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids.

What To Expect in 2023 MTV VMAs

With the 2023 MTV VMAs just around the corner, here’s a brief list of what we know so far:

It will be aired live on September 12, although the emcees and the recipient of the Global Icon Award are yet to be announced.

Interestingly, this year’s edition will mark the first time for two K-pop acts to perform for the awards show. TXT and Stray Kids will take the stage and it will be both group’s first time to perform at VMAs. They will now be joining BTS and BLACKPINK as the only K-Pop groups to achieve this feat.

 

Aside from K-Pop boy groups TXT and Stray Kids, international artists will be bringing their music to the show as well. The roster includes Demi Lovato, Karol G, Maneskin, Doja Cat, Lil Wayne, Anitta, and Kelsea Ballerini.

Meanwhile, fans can now vote for their favorite group via MTV’s official website.

However, fans were gagged when they realized that the luxury hotel costs an insane amount of money per night!

The star of “The Idol” recently shared photos from a relaxing stay at a beautiful five-star hotel in the US. “2 weeks back,” Jennie wrote, suggesting that her quick getaway happened before the BLACKPINK Born Pink World Tour concluded. In the photos, the “Solo” singer lounges by a pool and shares an amazing view of the desert. Needless to say, BLINKs loved the idea of Jennie taking some time off to have some fun.

But upon closer inspection, the BLACKPINK member isn’t just at any hotel in the desert. It has been confirmed that Jennie checked into the Amangiri, a luxury five-star hotel in Canyon Point, Utah. It’s a favorite among celebrities for its exclusivity and amenities. And there’s also a good reason why big-name stars are known to visit the resort. A room per night at Amangiri ranges from $3,425 to a face-melting $7,075!

It might be expensive but Jennie certainly can afford a night or even a week at the Amangiri. After all, it has already been confirmed that BLACKPINK’s Born Pink World Tour sold out just about every stop. According to reports, the girl group has amassed an astonishing 350 billion KRW, equivalent to approximately 264.5 million USD in revenue. Needless to say, Jennie should be able to enjoy even a month at the luxury resort if she wants to.

In related news, Jennie’s venture into acting has also been cut short. “The Idol” has been cancelled by HBO after its disappointing first season.
