(G)I-DLE’s agency, CUBE Entertainment, is taking firm action to protect the group from malicious online activity.
CUBE Entertainment Defends (G)I-DLE from Malicious Social Media Content
On April 18, the agency released an official statement announcing its decision to pursue strong legal measures against individuals who have created and shared maliciously edited videos and defamatory content about the group. CUBE emphasized that they are actively collecting evidence and will move forward with legal proceedings without any leniency or option for settlement, showing their commitment to safeguarding (G)I-DLE’s rights and dignity.
“It has come to our attention that maliciously edited videos and content targeting members of (G)I-DLE are being repeatedly disseminated online,” the statement read. “In addition, there has been a rampant spread of defamatory comments, including sexually offensive remarks, personal attacks, and groundless speculation.”
It added, “Regardless of whether the original footage was filmed in a public space, any act of malicious editing, distortion, and distribution, as well as the dissemination of false information or the posting of defamatory, sexually harassing, or insulting remarks, constitutes a clear criminal offense. These actions not only warrant criminal penalties but also represent serious violations of the artists’ portrait rights, reputation, and personal rights.”
“We are currently securing evidence related to these illegal postings and are in the process of preparing all available civil and criminal legal actions through our legal representatives,” the statement continued. “In particular, individuals responsible for the malicious distribution or circulation of such videos and defamatory comments will be held fully accountable to the fullest extent of the law, without any leniency or settlement.”
The announcement also comes at a crucial time, as anticipation builds for (G)I-DLE’s upcoming comeback. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that the group is preparing to release a new mini album in mid-May, marking their first full-group return in several months. CUBE Entertainment asked fans to continue showing support for the members and expressed confidence in a successful and impactful comeback.
