On January 26, the newly established agency shared an official statement announcing that the five talented idols would be joining their roster.

“It must have taken a lot of thought and courage for the artists to decide to continue their team activities,” the statement read. “We at ASND are sincerely grateful to the artists for their great courage and for choosing to walk this journey with us, and we promise to provide unwavering support and encouragement so that they can pursue their dreams going forward.”

The agency also addressed the possibility of the idols taking on a new group name.

“Regarding the use of the team name, we are still in discussions with the previous agency, and we are preparing for more diverse and meaningful activities in 2025,” they said in the statement. “In addition to showcasing the artists’ musical passion and growth through album promotions, we are also planning the group’s concert to connect with fans.”

fromis_9, originally formed through the survival program “Idol School”, debuted in 2018 and gained a devoted following for their catchy music and charm. In 2021, the group transitioned to PLEDIS Entertainment, where they continued their success. However, in November 2024, PLEDIS Entertainment announced that all nine members would be leaving the agency following the expiration of their contracts on December 31.

Earlier this month, there were reports that members have signed with Big Planet Made. However, the label was quick to dispel the rumors with a brief statement.

The move to ASND marks a fresh chapter for Hayoung, Jiwon, Nagyung, Chaeyoung, and Jiheon as they embark on new opportunities in their careers. Stay tuned for updates on their future activities!

However, BPM swiftly dismissed the claims, stating, “The article published today claiming that five fromis_9 members are moving to our agency is unfounded.” This clarification puts an end to the speculation surrounding the group’s next steps.

fromis_9 debuted in 2018 under the CJ ENM subsidiary Off The Record Entertainment after forming through the survival show “Idol School”. In 2021, they transitioned to PLEDIS Entertainment, a move intended to enhance their growth and provide comprehensive management support. The group enjoyed continued success under PLEDIS, releasing popular tracks such as “DM” and “Stay This Way.”

However, in November 2024, PLEDIS Entertainment announced that all eight members of fromis_9 would be leaving the agency after their contracts concluded on December 31, 2024. The statement assured fans that the decision was reached after thorough discussions with each member regarding their future paths.

As of now, the members of fromis_9 have yet to reveal any confirmed plans for their next steps. Fans are eagerly waiting for updates regarding their individual or collective activities as the group embarks on a new chapter. The announcement also revealed that the group is preparing a final comeback under PLEDIS, set to release in December, before their departure.

fromis_9 will release their fan song, which is their expression of their gratitude for their fandom flover, on December 23 and attend their final engagements, drawing a close to their official activities as PLEDIS Entertainment artists,” the statement confirmed.

Look: Pledis Entertainment Launches ‘Wonder Teens’ Global Audition

PLEDIS Entertainment, home to K-pop groups SEVENTEEN and fromis_9, is on the lookout for their next idol superstars!

On Friday, August 25, the agency announced that they’re launching their Wonder Teens global audition. 

Only individuals born after 2005 can audition. However, it is open to any gender and nationality. 

 

Additionally, those who plan to audition can apply in four categories: vocal, rap, dance, and “confidence.” According to their website, the confidence category is open to anyone who can “showcase their talent and ability.” 

“Based on the creativity and know-how to make dreams of performing at a global stage a reality, we are looking for the stars of the future,” PLEDIS Entertainment said in a press release.

The online auditions will run until September 17. Aspiring idols need to send their entries and fill the form through PLEDIS Entertainment’s website. 

Those who will pass the first round of auditions will be notified of the results within two weeks. Then, they’ll have to go through a second set of auditions, which will be conducted in person or through a live call. 

Moreover, this isn’t the first time that PLEDIS Entertainment opened their Wonder Teens global audition. In 2022, the agency held online auditions from March 18 to April 17 for individuals born after 2003. 

Reportedly, successful applicants from the audition will be accepted as trainees under PLEDIS Entertainment and will be awarded a scholarship. 

Back then, it was also reported that the agency is set to debut a new group in 2023. However, the agency has yet to confirm this. 

 HYBE’s new set of idols

Currently, PLEDIS Entertainment only have SEVENTEEN and fromis_9 as the active groups under their roster. 

However, the agency was also home to After School, NU’EST, and PRISTIN. PRISTIN disbanded in May 2019, while NU’EST disbanded in March 2022.

Although NU’EST has disbanded, members Hwang Min-hyun and Baekho stayed with Pledis Entertainment and pursued solo careers. 

 

Interestingly, PLEDIS Entertainment is also a subsidiary label of HYBE. Other record labels under HYBE include BIGHIT Music, ADOR, Source Music, and KOZ Entertainment. Recently, HYBE also acquired BELIFT LAB, ENHYPEN’s agency. 

Aside from PLEDIS Entertainment, BIGHIT Music and KOZ Entertainment have also launched their online auditions. 

BIGHIT Music’s audition program is only open to male applicants born between 2005 and 2013. It will close on September 22. Meanwhile, auditions for KOZ Entertainment will run until November 18. Only individuals born after 2006 can apply.
