IU and G-Dragon Delight Fans with ‘Palette’ 2025 Ver

On the latest episode of IU’s popular music talk show, G-Dragon made a rare guest appearance, marking his return to the spotlight following his recent announcements about new music. The episode was particularly special, as it was their first official on-screen interaction in years.

Right from the start, IU expressed surprise when she learned that G-Dragon had mentioned feeling awkward around her in a pre-interview. However, he quickly reassured her, saying, “I don’t [feel awkward around you]! Haven’t we gotten a lot closer than before?”

The two then fondly reminisced about their first meeting in seven years at IU’s 2023 concert, where they surprisingly felt at ease despite the time apart. Reflecting on their long-lasting connection, IU mused, “Maybe it’s the kind of comfort that comes from growing older together?” G-Dragon agreed, adding, “I guess it’s that unspoken inner bond.”

Naturally, the conversation turned to their iconic 2017 collaboration “Palette”. IU revealed that she had asked G-Dragon if they could perform the song together, knowing that fans had been eagerly hoping for it. She then surprised viewers by revealing, “And I heard you even rewrote the lyrics to make a 2025 version!”

G-Dragon explained his thought process behind updating the lyrics, recalling IU’s original vision for the song. “At the time, when you were making the song, you said you wanted to leave certain songs for certain ages. Back then, we were thirty and twenty-five. We sang it at a very pretty age. But now…” he trailed off with a laugh before adding, “So I thought a lot about what to say [in the new lyrics.]”

“Palette” 2025 ver starts at the 31:11 mark in the video above.

With this special reunion, fans are more excited than ever to see what the two artists have in store for the future.

IU Accuser Absent During First Trial of Plagiarism Lawsuit

The individual who accused IU of plagiarism failed to appear in court during the first trial of the plagiarism lawsuit filed by the singer against them.

IU’s Plagiarism Lawsuit First Trial Rescheduled as ‘A’ Fails to Attend

In May 2023, a person identified as “A” filed a complaint against IU with the Seoul Gangnam Police Station, alleging violations of the Copyright Law. The complaint cited six songs suspected of plagiarism: “The Red Shoes,” “Good Day,” “BBIBBI,” “Pitiful,” “Boo,” and “Celebrity.” Among these, IU is credited with writing and composing “Celebrity” and producing and composing “BBIBBI.” However, the complaint was dismissed as it pointed out songs that IU did not compose or write. Following these allegations, IU’s agency vowed to take strong legal action.

In response, IU filed a lawsuit against “A,” seeking damages for defamation, infringement of personal rights, and false accusations. The Seoul Central District Court’s Division 29 held the first trial of this lawsuit on July 24. While IU’s representative attended the court session, the defendant did not show up and did not send a representative.

IU’s legal team indicated that “A” is currently in the United States, and they are in the process of obtaining identity information through a trial in the US. This process is expected to take an additional three to four months. Consequently, IU’s side requested an extension to allow more time to present their case adequately.

The court accepted this request and agreed to reschedule the trial. The new trial date will be determined once the defendant is identified. This development highlights the complexities involved in international legal disputes and the challenges faced by individuals seeking justice across borders.

The plagiarism allegations and subsequent legal actions have significantly impacted IU, one of South Korea’s most beloved singers. The court’s decision to grant an extension underscores the importance of a thorough and fair legal process. Fans and the public are closely following the case, awaiting further developments as IU continues to defend her reputation and artistic integrity.
