The solo single marks his return following his successful first studio album ‘Youth’ released in April 2024, and the “Dear Youth” solo concert tour, which kicked off with three sold-out dates in Seoul from May 25 to 27, 2024.

Doyoung Through the Years

Doyoung’s musical journey began in 2015 when he was introduced as a trainee in SM Entertainment’s pre-debut team, SM Rookies. His talent quickly caught the attention of fans, and in April 2016, he made his official debut as a member of NCT’s first rotational unit, NCT U. Known for his strong vocal skills and versatility, Doyoung brought a fresh dynamic to the group’s experimental concept. The following year, in January 2017, he joined NCT 127, the Seoul-based sub-unit known for its powerful performances and distinctive music style, solidifying his presence as a core member of the group.

The Gayo Daejeon Summer is a new addition to SBS’s large-scale music shows, typically held at the end of the year. This is the first time the year-end music program will also be celebrated in the summer. Notably, all three idols have previously served as MCs for the weekly music program “Inkigayo” on SBS.

An Yujin will host Gayo Daejeon for the third consecutive year, having served as MC in 2022 and 2023. Yeonjun, who co-hosted last year’s Gayo Daejeon alongside An Yujin, returns to showcase his hosting skills again. With the addition of NCT’s Doyoung, fans are eager to see the chemistry between these former “Inkigayo” hosts.

NCT’s Doyoung Offers a Sneak Peek at His Apartment on ‘I Live Alone’

NCT’s Doyoung recently gave fans a long-awaited look into his home on I Live Alone. The April 19 episode of the show confirmed what NCTzens have long suspected. After moving out of the NCT dorms, where he lived with his bandmates for many years, Doyoung has been living independently for about six months.

His appearance on I Live Alone showed that he’s as happy as a clam in his own space, which he set up according to his preferences and lifestyle. His living room, where he spends a lot of time chilling in front of the TV, is completely devoid of clutter. It also has a large double-door fridge that hints at his love for cooking and staying in.

Doyoung revealed, “I used to live in a dorm then, when my older brother began his military service, I lived with my family for a while before I decided to move out and live on my own. I wanted to have houseplants no matter what, and I also enjoy collecting incense and perfume. I relieve stress by buying what I like.”

That said, he chose to decorate his home in a minimalist style. For instance, his bedroom is neatly separated from his living area. There’s not much in it, either, except for the essentials—a closet, a double bed, and nothing else. This simplicity underscores his practical approach to living independently.

During the show, Doyoung didn’t stop at sharing his personal space with fans. He also opened up about his daily routine and offered fans insight into his dietary habits to boot. For instance, he drinks sword bean tea and water extracted from maple trees. Sword bean tea contains compounds that may stimulate the nervous system by maintaining levels of crucial brain chemicals like dopamine and serotonin, which enhance focus and energy. It’s also believed to be an antioxidant and has properties that make it beneficial for one’s liver. Meanwhile, maple water is known for its hydration capabilities, which can aid post-exercise recovery due to its electrolyte content.

He also likes to chow down on dried abalone, which is known for its health benefits, especially in Asian cultures where it’s valued for its ability to support healthy eyes and skin. It’s an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which can help reduce the risk of heart disease and arthritis. Omega-3s are also believed to reduce the risk of developing certain cancers. Furthermore, dried abalone is rich in iodine. It also has phosphorus, which plays an important role in how the body uses carbohydrates and fats, and is necessary for the body to make protein for the growth, maintenance, and repair of cells and tissues​ .

Doyoung also revealed that he’s obsessed with dating shows. He watches them while he does household chores. “They can be stressful, and sometimes I feel frustrated. But there is definitely also dopamine,” he says. When asked if he envies ordinary citizens because they can date whoever they want, he responded in the negative. “I don’t imagine myself in those situations. I am an idol, after all. I don’t feel a single ounce of jealousy.”

Doyoung is a cheerful giver

In December 2023, he contributed to children’s support with a donation of 50 million KRW during Christmas. Earlier that year, he did his part to help recovery efforts after the Turkey-Syria earthquake with a donation of 100 million KRW. In March 2022, he donated 30 million KRW for wildfire recovery and support for victims in North Gyeongsang’s Uljin and Gangwon’s Samcheok. 

He also joined the Honor Society, a philanthropic membership system managed by the Community Chest of Korea, known as “사랑의열매” (Sarangui Yeolmae) or literally “Fruit of Love” in English. The Honor Society is a program designed to encourage high net-worth individuals and leaders in various fields to contribute to society by making significant financial donations to support various social causes and welfare programs.

Members pledge to donate at least 100 million KRW (approximately 85,000 USD) either in a lump sum or over a period of up to five years. Donations collected through this program support services and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for the underprivileged. Dolce & Gabbana has officially announced their new brand ambassador. The Italian luxury fashion house revealed that NCT member Doyoung is their new ambassador within South Korea and Japan.

Dolce & Gabbana shared the first images of Doyoung as the brand’s new ambassador across their social media accounts. Kim Dong-young will serve as the very first brand ambassador within Korea and Japan.

Not surprisingly, Doyoung is thrilled to represent the luxury brand.

“I’m truly excited to become part of the great Dolce & Gabbana family. I feel a strong connection that I think can give rise to a powerful synergy between me and the brand. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Dolce & Gabbana and I will create together,” he said.

The brand also expressed their pride for the new ambassador.

“Dolce & Gabbana has always seen music as a source of inspiration, making this Ambassadorship the beginning of a new creative journey together,” they said in a statement. “As a global K-pop icon, Doyoung showcases his charisma and talent through his own unique music and style.”

The new role is a great opportunity for Doyoung. In addition to being an idol, Kim Dongyoung is also an actor appearing in “Lipstick Prince” and “Midnight Cafe – The Curious Stalker”. He has also served as an MC on “Show Champion” and “Inkigayo”.

Doyoung has been part of NCT since 2016. He joined the subunit NCT U in April of the same year before being added to NCT 127 in December. Doyoung recently joined Jaehyun and Jungwoo in his third subunit NCT DoJaeJung. They released their debut EP ‘Perfume’ on April 17.
